We're so lucky to have Kensington Park in our lives 4/1/2016

My mother has needed virtually all services available at Kensington Park, including both programs in the memory care building. When my mother first arrived two years ago, she was independent and active with a womens group who dedicated much of their lives to volunteer work. She loves music and participated in their live entertainment program. My mother enjoyed the nature bus rides and going out to group luncheons and walking the grounds. They do a lot of activities at Kensington Park and my mother enjoyed being active in all of them. Now that she's wheelchair bound and less able to communicate, she listens to music, watches the birds and enjoys having her small dog in her room. When she broke her hip, she had physical therapy in her room and at the physical therapy facility. The staff is always there for us when we need them and I often visit after 9pm and I'm always welcomed. They offer us to join our loved ones for meals, which are free for visiting family members. The community is lovely and the grounds are well kept and enjoyable to walk around. I've found the support groups by Dr. Anya to be a gift and they help me with my daily visits with my mother. more

Incredible, caring and loving staff - they are an extension of our family. 3/30/2016

My mom goes to Kensington Park and they do everything for her. They dress, feed and take care of her 24/7 and there's even a hair salon on the premises. The nurses and assistants call me anytime there are changes with her meds or health and their communication has been outstanding. They offer about ten to twelve daily programs to keep the seniors mind's active and they have a doctor look at her once a week to make sure she's doing okay. I am so thrilled with their service and I couldn't have asked for a better assisted living community to take care of my mother. more

I sing their praises to everyone I meet! 3/30/2016

Kensington Park is absolutely wonderful. The journey I took to find the right place for my mom was a long one. The deciding factor that drew me there was the leveled dementia care. The patients are not all stuck in a room together. I knew she was going to thrive there because of how I was treated. They helped me with everything. They answered my questions, helped me with paperwork and guided me through the process with so much care. My mother is doing great. She's happy and smiling and has friends and is active. more

My mother has become revitalized, alive and engaged since moving there 1/19/2016

We placed my mother in independent living and toured many places, including some sad and depressing ones. She saw Kensington Park and said she could live there. When we visited, we saw it was clean and bright and someone was playing the piano. The residents seemed generally happy and engaged. It is the same way now. They have a very friendly, high-quality staff that engages, listens and interacts. There's nothing brusque or brush-off about them. Also, I've eaten at Kensington Park many times, and I especially like the soup of the day. The food is good and they offer a great selection. I love the place. more

Fantastic dementia care 6/25/2015

I didn't know it was possible to get the level of care that Kensington Park provides. My mother became hostile and combative when she got dementia, and the staff at Kensington Park took it all in stride, loving her for her spirit and independence. The staff at Kensington Park all takes a pledge that they will love the residents as if there were their own family, and the pledge really means something to them. In addition, they are all trained superbly in how to diffuse a situation where a resident gets agitated (which happens frequently in a dementia care setting), so they're able to minimize accidents, falls, and adverse outcomes. When my mother was in her final days, virtually everyone on the staff came in to say goodbye to her, hugged and kissed her, and told her how much they appreciated what they'd learned from her. The tenderness and compassion was beyond anything I could have imagined. If you can get a spot at Kensington Park, grab it -- my mother was grossly neglected at another, very upscale facility -- this one you can really trust. more

My concerns are the staff's concerns. 4/21/2015

My mother has been at KP for the better part of a year and has enjoyed nothing but fine facilities, good fellowship and attentive care. Dining is carefully thought out, prepared and presented. As visitors, my family and I are always welcome and have availed ourselves of the many opportunities to visit and participate in activities and special occasions. My mom and our family are most pleased with our decision to move to KP. more

For dementia care, the staff is professional, caring, and they really get to know the residents! 4/21/2015

My mother moved to The Grove (Kensington Park's dementia care building) last June because of her Alzheimer's. When I first determined my mother needed to move from independent living to assisted living, I did a lot of research. I toured lots of residencies before deciding on Kensington Park. Although I had never worked with them before, what swayed me was Kensington Park was smaller inside than other residencies. It was a little less overwhelming, and more contained physically in a beautiful setting. It was also a hair less expensive than some of the other places, and their staffing level has a higher than average ratio- or at least comparable to other residencies. They did a great job helping my brother and I plan and execute my mother's move-in. The Director of Services at that time helped us plan really well for the move and get the details straightened out ahead of time. The move went really smoothly. The staff did a god job in general helping my mother make an adjustment. Moving is difficult for anyone, but especially with a person with dementia, new changes in the environment like different people are a lot to deal with. There were two things that did not go so well. One was that there was a misunderstanding about the need for private duty care that resulted in a humongous first bill we were not expecting. To their credit, the folks at Kensington worked through it. It was not totally clear that there was going to be such a degree of private care and they ended up charging my mother a ton of money the first month. It took a while to work it out, but we ended up compromising. The other negative thing that happened was that in her second week at The Grove, my mother got out the front door and walked all the way down to the highway. She was agitated, wondering where she was, and wanted to go home. After that, they gave her a wander guard and changed their security system. They did call and tell me that it happened. They are good at communicating and it is pretty easy to get in touch with people. Whether it be the Memory Care Director, the nurses, or the wellness office, I can always reach them. They always call if something comes up, like a new medication, a new symptom, anything. They are very good at communicating. more

Bright, cheerful, accommodating, and very comfortable. 4/8/2015

My father-in-law has been at Kensington park for a few months now, and they have been wonderful. If something needs to be done they're right on it and on top of things. When he needed a different type of toilet put in his room they took care of it quickly. Once he was waiting on his hearing aid batteries, and Amanda went and got them for him. They're really helpful. They also have a lot of activities that he really enjoys. The food is excellent. He moved in this past January, but I have met a lot of people who have been there for years, and it says a lot if someone can stay there for ten years and still give such high ratings. Kensington Park provides for a bright, cheerful, accommodating, and very comfortable home. I would highly recommend them. more

A wonderful place 4/3/2015

I am a resident at Kensington Park, and the staff here is just marvelous. They are very professional, wonderful, and supportive. I feel with them I don't have to worry about anything. They don't want you to stay in your room all day, and they encourage you to be a part of the community. They keep me alert. They do a fantastic job of keeping me alert, engaged, and involved in the community. I would say ninety-nine percent of the residents are happy and like it here, after they get adjusted to the change and leaving a place where they lived for forty or fifty years. The staff have everything available to us. They support us in every way, shape, and form. We are surrounded and supported by churches. I would highly recommend them to others, and I do every chance I get. more

I am grateful that my mom is safe and well cared for. 3/5/2015

Kensington Park was a very draining experience for my family to go through. The transition was hard for my mother-in-law when we moved here there. Other than that, their customer service is good. more

Great experience! 3/2/2015

I have been at Kensington Park for about three years now, and I really like this place. I like the personnel, the people who are here, the food, and the activities that they offer. So far it has been a great experience, and I'm glad to be here. more

Kensington Park Independent Retirement Living is the best you'll ever find 2/17/2015

I assisted my Mother in moving into Kensington Park's Independent Living community last September. Everything from A to zed, and everyone there was and continues to be kind, gentle, on-the-ball with whatever has needed to be done, and top notch in all ways. I am so happy she is there, she is so happy to be there and loves the people, the style and quality, and the great warmth and joyousness of the staff and whole community. After looking at many retirement communities in the Washington/Maryland area, and having traveled and lived in varied parts of the U.S. and abroad, Kensington Park is far and away the best around. Their standards of care are high and they keep their actions and words to meet that high level of care alive. more

I was amazed by how caring 2/9/2015

Kensington Park is very good. My mother-in-law lives there and the staff is so accommodating with her needs. Her transition there was very smooth. It is very obvious that the staff care about their residences because they are so considerate. I am very impressed by their knowledge and how they keep the place so neat. It is a true loving community. more

Welcoming, responsive, with constant commitment to quality experience. 2/2/2015

It is very important to visit the facility so you can appreciate the quality of it and the warm welcome by everyone at Kesington Park. Among the other senior living facilities, and due to our extensive research on it, we have no doubt they are the nicest and most inviting living arrangement that we saw. It was a very good transition for my mother and the staff was very interested in that issue. We found them outreaching to me, my wife, and my mother to make sure it was a good experience. Everybody we've worked with has been extra thoughtful, responsive and appropriately interested. more

The memory center office is excellent and the best I have experienced! 11/26/2014

My husband has dementia and needed more care and attention. I found Kesington Park and the people there to be wonderful. They are always attentive, happy, smiling and enjoying their job. I appreciate that they take care of the individual; they seem to know and understand how different people have different problems. Their memory center office is excellent and the best I have experienced! more

Great experience. Staff is wonderful. Everything works seamlessly. 11/24/2014

My mother has had a fabulous experience at Kensington Park so far. My mother is in her late nineties and she moved in late September. Her favorite aspect is the cocktail hour they have their. It gives her a chance to socialize with the other residents. It's tough to meet new people around that age, but she's working on it. They have other activities to look into once she gets into a groove there. They staff at Kensington Park is so good! Anytime she's needed anything, they have been accommodating and terrific. There is always someone there to help. The whole staff knows my mother's name, and pretty much the names of all the family and friends of the residents that walk in. I would recommend them. more

Very good experience! 11/19/2014

Kensington Park takes care of my dad and he's very happy. We have no complaints and if he's happy, we're happy. more

They were a godsend 11/18/2014

Most of the people moving into Kensington Park are going through major life transitions and the staff is very sensitive to that. They go out of their way to make sure how these changes have to be dealt with-- they were better than anyone else I have experienced. They were a tremendous relief for me, and my father has people to interact with him. I'm much more comfortable and he is engaged and busy. Whenever I have a question, they are great and I have never had a problem. more

They have given my brother and I the confidence to know my mother is well taken care of. 11/17/2014

The staff at Kensington Park park is very good at what they do. They have been very helpful with our mother's transition into their facility. They respect her dignity and our needs as family members. We have been using them for over a year, and have been able to handle any incidents very professionally. They have retained our level of confidence in their ability to take care of my mother. more

Welcoming and focused on caring for residents. 11/13/2014

I have an elderly relative staying at Kensington Park since last May, and they have been incredible. They are very responsive to any questions that come up, and are focused on their mission of caring for their residents. The manner of all the people you come in contact with is very welcoming and kindly, which is incredibly important. Their interpersonal skills with residents and visitors are great, and they do a wonderful job. more
