Oh so yummy. We are coming back ASAP! more

Our favorite sushi place!! 3/22/2008

Delicious sushi! This is a great place to indulge in some awesome and fresh sushi! Their miso soup is amazing. Spicy tuna is a favorite, as is the scallop handroll, halibut sushi. Wasabi is sufficiently hot! Servers are very friendly and attentive. The place can get super busy though. Pros: Delicious and fresh sushi Cons: Crowded often, ambiance is just okay. more

Love sushi here 10/2/2007

I was a bit skeptical when i first went here but i must admit, Kabuki won me over. I've been back several times, at least 1-2 a month. They have really good albacore and halibut sushi. Not consistant is the tuna sushi, some days it's just ok and other times it was superb. It's a small place with a lot of regular returning customers and a friendly staff who knows you. We get there before 7 or the wait is way long. It's not a fancy place but it's the one of the better sushi restaurants in the valley. Pros: Friendly staff, good food Cons: Wait can be long more

the best 8/13/2007

UPDATE I do not go here anymore. In the last two years this place has done a HUGE 360. It lost some of its best staff and is just not consistant for the price. I do not mind high price food but the food and the service have to be consistant. \r \r A real shame.\r \r \r \r I actually do wonder if you where at the wrong location. There is a chain called Kabuki which is not related to the location on Reseda. The chain does lead a lot to be desired. \r \r However, the independently owned Kabuki located on Reseda in between Lassen and Plumber is wonderful. I like the other people who recommend this restaurant have eaten at some of the best sushi bars and find this place to be right up there with them.\r \r I have been going to Kabuki for over 20. There is no ambiance at all, but the food and the service make up for that. Most of the clients are return customers and you get a close family feeling once you come a few times. Most nights there is a wait. On Sundays the \r place opens @ 5 pm and there is always the same group of 15 people waiting in line to get in the door.\r \r Maybe you had a new chef, maybe it was an off night but I can say I have never had bad unagi sauce (in fact I, my friends and most of the other people in the restaurant get a side of the sauce) smelly fish or gotten sick from this restaurant. Pretty good track record for 20 years (and staying in business that long) I cannot wait to eat there again. Pros: food and the people Cons: no ambience more

are the other reviews a joke? this place is horrible. 8/2/2007

Maybe I was at a different Kabuki than everyone else...? haha no, I was not. My experience was horrible. I went there today (Thursday) after having read good reviews online. This is a warning - stay far away from this restaurant!\r \r The service was excellent. I'll start off with that. They attended to me well.\r \r But the sushi was just terrible. Whenever I go to a new place, I get a rainbow roll, an eel roll, and amaebi (sweet shrimp). This is because these orders are hard to screw up and because you can tell how the chain does sushi by how they serve the rainbow and eel rolls.\r \r The rainbow roll had very little fish on it (compared to those I get elsewhere). It was mostly rice with a lot of avocado. The fish (salmon, tuna, shrimp, and yellowtail) was not very fresh and pretty flavorless. I definitely wouldn't order the salmon or tuna here at all, based on this roll.\r \r The amaebi was fine. You can't screw up amaebi.\r \r The eel sunk the entire restaurant. I was served eel rolls which were soaked in what appeared to be eel sauce. Ordinarily, this would be a decent thing (very very good if there were slightly less, but I do love the sauce served with unagi). I ate one roll and my stomach turned. The sauce was so bad as to be almost inedible. I tried one more piece to verify what the first bite (and my nose) had told me. Yes. The worst sauce ever served with eel rolls.\r \r They had awful fish and they screwed up eel rolls. How can anyone like this place?\r \r You're in Los Angeles. Go to a sushi restaurant that's not awful. Avoid this one.\r \r And to be 100% fair, they had toro on the menu. The prior reviewer isn't entirely right. But then again, he/she posted the review in 2004, so who knows. Pros: good service Cons: horrible fish, horrible eel... that pretty much sinks it more

Kabuki tops valley's sushi 7/26/2006

Kabuki sushi is undeniably the best place around the area. The service is unbelievable! The enviorment is so familiar since there are so many loyal customers that come by weekly, some since it opened 23 years ago! But theres no question why. The sushi is delicious and most affordable. Some of my favorite plates are only signature to Kabuki and i refuse to go anywhere else. The place isnt good for large groups and it may not be the most ambient restaurant but the food compensates for it. I love the area as well. An amazing tanning salon is next door as well as a very beautiful spa! good place to plan a day of for facials, tanning session, and good sushi! Pros: almost everything! Cons: restaurant decor more

Expecting more! 6/22/2005

Cut rolls were a bit clumsy, the Eel was a bit on the skimpy side and expensive for a place so out the way. Air con was drafty but the flavours were pretty good. I wont be going back though too many other options. Pros: service, flavour Cons: price, presentation more

good sushi.. 4/28/2004

I like Kabuki. Ive been going here since i was in college in CSUN. Very consistent menu and the fish is good. Large selection of sushi in the new creative styles rolls...and i am glad that after all these years their sushi has maintained the quality. It is definitely above average sushi..and the rolls are great. Price is also reasonable. The only thing i was disappointed about Kabuki is sometimes they dont carry the not-so common sushi like Toro, Kampachi, Ankimo, Uni, Seki Saba...etc. They chose to go the lesser expensive selection of the Hamachi, Salmon, saba, albacore..etc. But, even at this, their sushi is still very good. Although, due to the exception...i rate this place only above average. Pros: Good food n fish, gud parking.., big selection more

Long time Fan of kabuki 7/26/2002

I have been a long time patron of Kabuki. REALLY good sushi for a decent price. Try the tender octopus, hawiian bonito, or if you got the cash toro is always great. Pros: tasty, affordable, excellent service Cons: long wait, very small place more
