THE BEST PLACE TO GO 3/7/2011

I love this bakery, simply love every thing that they make, because it is all made from scratch daily. i have never had a problem with there cakes or any thing in there store. So to the Family members with the last initial B. I hop they never close down, so when you say bad karma you may want to say to your self what go's around comes around. more

Not Good. 3/7/2011

Ordered light green pettifors with white baby booties. Got white petifors with crayola green booties. Not happy, but no time to fix it now so I have to take them... surely they will at least discount my insanely incorrect order. No. Wrong. Nothing was done about it. It hurts me to say this as I am born and raised here and used to really love J's ... They don't deserve to A) call themselves J's Bakery... and B) bake for your money. Bad karma bakery indeed. more

customer no service 2/16/2011

I will NEVER use this bakery again. I have been looking for a great King Cake to take to work. This place came highly recommended and I prefer to patronize local businesses whenevery possible. When I walked in, the place was absolutely filthy and the high school drop out looking clerk behind the counter was not very helpful. I bought the King Cake listed "cc" which was suppose to mean filled with cream cheese. I asked if the "baby" was already in the cake and was told it was inside. Needless to say the cake was NOT filled with cream cheese and there was no baby inside the cake. I have attempted to call and complain and give them an opportunity to make it right and there has been no answer. Whatever you do DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY for anything...\r \r p.s. The cake tasted like cardboard as if it was made last week some time and had been sitting waiting for some sucker to come along and get ripped off. more

Will never go back! 2/1/2011

I will never step foot in this bakery again! We had just moved to town and J's Bakery came with high recommendations. I bought a carrot cake for my daughter's birthday. It was very dry, almost like it had been frozen, thawed and iced. It was terrible. We returned the cake with only two pieces missing and was told the manager would contact me. I never heard from anyone. I then went to their store three separate times and was told I could not have my money back.On the third visit my husband went with me and we were only offered another cake. I chose a red velvet cake and it was as dry as the first one. Terrible! You will never speak to the owners and the employees can not refund money. Once you but it is yours. The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I'm definitly a bad missionary spreading the word of their terrible cakes and horrible customer service. more

Nasty bakery 12/5/2010

This bakery needs to just close for good! Stopped in this morning 12/4/10 and was surprised at how run down it was. There were no lights in the case to be able to SEE, decided on cupcakes & danish. Took one bite and had to throw everything in the trash. The cupcake tasted so old, my husband said the danish was dryed out too. No use complaining to owners, they don't care. I will pass this on so no one else goes there to waste their money. Went to Publix and was very pleased with their bakery. J's close down your business, it is disgusting and dirty. more

J's Garbage 11/21/2010

Worse cakes I've ever tasted. In October I flew into Pensacola for a special birthday party for my sister and I purchased the birthday cake from J's. "WRONG THING TO DO." I was embarrassed. Guest at the party could not eat the cake. It was awful ! ! Worst cake I've ever had bar none. One month and seven days later, I'm still trying to get a refund. STAY AWAY. The Better Business Bureau rating is F for this business. more

horribly disappointed 6/22/2010

Just to add to my husband's review, I have been going to Jay's pastry shop for at least 20 years. It has never been the same after it closed, I'm not really sure why, but what I am ultimately sure of, the product has suffered which is sad, but what was even more devistating than a salty, nasty, unedible cake was the nasty, unnecesarily rude people that work there . I blame this completly on the so called ownership of this bussiness, if I treated anybody that way where I work, I would be fired. My responsible store owner would rather die than have an unsatisfied customer, that does not describe what my husband and I feel it's much worse. I would gladly encourage everybody that I will tell about this experience, never and I mean never give your bussiness to a bussiness that treats you and your money like you are not wanted. Maybe they have made enough money and should once again close thier doors, this time for good. YOUR A BAD CARMA BAKERY. more

The worst cake ever! 6/22/2010

My wife and I ordered a combination Fathers Day-Birthday cake to celebrate both events on 6/18/10. We asked that it simply say Happy Day to include both themes. We ordered it in person and were very specific as to how it should look. What I did not know was that apparently I should have clarified that it should also be edible! We prepaid for it as asked, I should have known better. I picked it up the day after ordering it and it did not look anything like we had wanted it to look. When I pointed out the error the kid in the bandana just looked at me like "well what do you want me to do about it"? I had time constraints so I thought well maybe it will taste good, no big deal. WRONG! My family and I had a wonderful dinner and were looking forward to a slice of cake. I have never tasted a more digusting bite of cake. We all looked at each other and were simply shocked by what we tasted. It was like eating salty sand. Like they put salt instead of sugar in the batter. My wife more

Bad Business 2/18/2010

I am a Pensacola native so going to J's Bakery was a tradition for our family. The staff was friendly, the treats were fresh, and the cakes were always delicious and made just as ordered. I was elated when the business re-opened only to be met with disappointment. More times than not, the cakes were unsatisfactory. There were cakes that were overcooked, decorations that were entirely different than requested, and cakes that did not rise so they were over compensated with icing. I was hopeful that J?s would regain the level of satisfaction they were famous for so, I remained a loyal customer. But, the very next cake purchased tasted as if it had been sitting for a week. After one slice it was decided that no one was going to eat another piece of this cake. I took it back instead of throwing it away as I did all of the others. I was told that there was no way for me to speak to a manger and was asked to leave the cake and one of the mangers would look at it, decide if it was dry, and call me back to inform if the cake would be refunded or replaced. No one ever called! I made a second trip to the shop only to be told (by the clerk) that the owner said that the cake was fine and that they would not be issuing a refund or replacing the cake. I asked the whereabouts of the cake and she explained that it had been thrown away. After many unreturned calls and several trips to the bakery, I was able to reach one of the owners only to be told that they would give a courtesy $9 IN STORE credit for HALF the price of the cake which I explained was a slap in the face. The owner stated ?a bigger slap in the face would be to give you nothing?. I guess that extra $9 was worth loosing a life long customer to him. Cons: Not the Same J's Pastry shop more

Horrible customer service 12/27/2008

Three generations of my family have been going to J's Bakery for cookies, pastries, rolls, but above all else birthday cakes for years! \r WE WILL NOT BE BACK. \r This tradition ended Christmas Eve morning when we arrived at J's to pick up my 2 year olds birthday cake and they were unable to find the cake, the order, or to offer an APOLOGY or any type of compensation for their gross mistake. This is after my mother had actually gone to the bakery and placed the order in- person and discussed at length the type of cake and size we needed. We were forced to celebrate my two year olds birthday (on Christmas Day) without a cake because J's Bakery lost the order form and failed miserably to provide us with any other cake or cupcakes to make up for THEIR mistake. The employees did not care at all about my predicament as I calmly explained to three different employees my situation BEFORE I erupted into rage because of their lack of regard for a birthday cake for my 2 year old. We will never be more

Best bakery in Pensacola, Florida 10/6/2007

I've been visiting this bakery ever since I was a very young child. Everything is always so fresh and delicious! I order cakes from here for each of my six children's birthday parties and cupcakes for school parties, etc. Whenever I have a sweet tooth I come here because the prices of everything are affordable and the pastries are to die for. more

Yum Yum! 9/15/2005

This place is awesome. It has been around forever. It was eventually closed because the owner was retiring, but someone bought it and uses the same recipes, so there really is no change at all other than the prices went up slightly. The building is old, but who cares, the goodies are what I notice when I walk in to the store!!! more
