Review content:
I am a Pensacola native so going to J's Bakery was a tradition for our family. The staff was friendly, the treats were fresh, and the cakes were always delicious and made just as ordered. I was elated when the business re-opened only to be met with disappointment. More times than not, the cakes were unsatisfactory. There were cakes that were overcooked, decorations that were entirely different than requested, and cakes that did not rise so they were over compensated with icing. I was hopeful that J?s would regain the level of satisfaction they were famous for so, I remained a loyal customer. But, the very next cake purchased tasted as if it had been sitting for a week. After one slice it was decided that no one was going to eat another piece of this cake. I took it back instead of throwing it away as I did all of the others. I was told that there was no way for me to speak to a manger and was asked to leave the cake and one of the mangers would look at it, decide if it was dry, and call me back to inform if the cake would be refunded or replaced. No one ever called! I made a second trip to the shop only to be told (by the clerk) that the owner said that the cake was fine and that they would not be issuing a refund or replacing the cake. I asked the whereabouts of the cake and she explained that it had been thrown away. After many unreturned calls and several trips to the bakery, I was able to reach one of the owners only to be told that they would give a courtesy $9 IN STORE credit for HALF the price of the cake which I explained was a slap in the face. The owner stated ?a bigger slap in the face would be to give you nothing?. I guess that extra $9 was worth loosing a life long customer to him.
Cons: Not the Same J's Pastry shop
