Ernest Changed My LIfe, I Mean My Hair 5/9/2011

I went in to Joseph & Friends one Friday afternoon to get shampoo. Ernest ended up helping me & taking the time to discuss my current cut. He spent quite a bit of time with me & gave me great advice, so I called Saturday morning to book an appointment. Ernest was able to fit me in that same day even though he was completely booked. more

Best Hair Experience of my Life 10/22/2010

Just moving down to GA from NJ, I still had not found a hair dresser. My mother-in-law suggested Joseph and Friends and I decided to at least check it out. I was going for a drastic change (taking off almost 9 inches, and drastic and difficult highlights). I made an appt. for a consultation and was blown away by the moment I stepped in. The reception staff was cheerful and sweet and the atmosphere was comfortable and pretty luxurious ;o) I was introduced to Ernest who would be consulting with me. more

FINALLY! 7/7/2010

I started going to Joseph and Friends in Roswell before moving to Cumming in 2004. I always loved my hair but I didn't have the time to make the drive. I'd been searching for a great salon ever since and haven't had ANY luck until I asked a neighbor of mine where she got her hair cut. She told me that she went to Joseph and Friends in Johns Creek and saw one of their top stylists who was also the salon educator. I decided to call and make an appointment. When I got there, my stylist talked to me for a long time about what I wanted. She really listened to me! I came out the happiest I have EVER been with my hair! Not to mention completely relaxed from the great shampoo and free chair massage I got before my haircut! Thanks to Nicole at Joseph and Friends, my search for a new salon and hairstylist is over! I have my confidence back again! Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful salon and AMAZING service! more

141 Best Salon yet! 6/11/2010

My excellent experience started when I called in to book an appointment. The girl on the phone was so positive and helpful. She was patient and a good listener she was recommending stylists and times for me. It just got better when I walked in for my appointment. The receptionist who scheduled my appointment introduced herself and offered me something to drink and magazines. I didnt even sit down yet when my stylish stylist came to get me. She was spunky and excited to get started. She gave me a chair massage and a soothing relaxing shampoo. My haircut was even came out exactly want I wanted actaully better. And she gave recommended cute color ideas for my new cut next time I come in. I couldn ask for anything better. Thanx Joseph! I will be back and bring my friends. Pros: Everything! more

Worst Manicure and Haircut in Lifetime 5/13/2010

I was unpleasantly surprised. The nail technician used cuticle instrument upside down entire time, leaving 90% unclipped. Used acetone to clean polish from skin on every finger. Really messy "paint job." Took twice as long as regular nail salon. Observed a client get a razor cut when she requested a layered cut. Will probably never refer anyone. The NY salon is much better. Pros: Beautiful environment Cons: Inexperienced stylist and technician more

great experience 12/10/2009

I visited Joseph and Friends in Johns Creek, for the first time, in October. When I called to book the appointment I was put on hold at first, but the receptionist apologized and ended up being very helpful! Based off of what I said I wanted, she recommended a stylist that she thought would be best for me. I chose a technician in the middle price range ($50). Pros: customer service, stylists, price, everything!! Cons: none! more

Great Salon 6/29/2009

I have a habit of doing "drop in" hair appointments to places that catch my eye at times. Having just moved to the Martin's Landing Area, I had been eyeing this Aveda salon, tucked in amongst a few great places my husband and I had eaten at. (And I don't mean the Wendy's!) Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful salon. Cons: Price, but hey, it's Aveda! more

Mostly good stylist s - bad customer appreciation 11/19/2007

I found this salon to be perfect for me when I first moved into the area 3 years back but after constant rising prices every time I went in "due to more training," a bad hair cut, and poor customer relations, I decided to stop going. I am not a picky person, either - I go with the flow and like to experiment with cuts and color so am usually complacent with whatever happens with my hair - it will grow back, right? The 2nd to last time I went, I made an appointment with a "new" stylist because I needed a trim and needed it sooner than the 3 week wait. He made me feel uncomfortable - he was too touchy feely. He gave me an unsolicited shoulder and neck massage. He also seemed to not really know what he was doing. When I explained how I wanted my hair trimmed (he asked), I used terms my normal stylist (who was not there that morning) used and he kept asking me to explain them which really bugged me because he should know the terms. When I left the salon I was ok with what he did. Then I went on a trip the next day and discovered that the hair on one side of my head was shorter than the other! I kept thinking it was because I part my hair on the side, but when I parted it down the middle a huge area of hair was missing! When I got back from my trip, I made an appointment with my normal stylist - she agreed my hair was not cut properly. She fixed it then charged me full price. Perhaps I should have asked but I thought she would at least charge me less than the normal price or not at all. She made me feel not welcome - which was odd since I have always felt comfortable around her. Those last two experiences combined with the constantly rising haircut and color prices made me finally decide to look elsewhere. One other experience I had also factored in my decision. I accidently knocked off and shattered a glass Aveda bottle displayed on shelves 3 feet in front of the register - they charged me the full price ($40) of the bottle! I thought that was extreme. Pros: some good stylists, good products, friendly front desk staff Cons: constant rising prices more

Unnecessary Pain 9/20/2007

Joseph & Friends sees itself as a step above -- a little pretentious but normally with good technicians. It is more expensive than some of its counterparts who do an equally good job. The bad part is that the technicians think they can do no wrong. I went in, and the technician doing my hair was in such a hurry to leave that she used the hottest setting possible on the dryer and burned my scalp so bad that I screamed, not once but twice. Any concession for the pain? No. It's not the money that upset me so much -- it is that someone who injures a client should be willing to make some concession, or the client can go somewhere else. Believe me, I will. It's not as if they care whether you come back in. I'd rather do business with someone who values my business. more

Best haircuts in roswell 11/4/2006

This is an amazing salon. I have only had my hair cut at this place, but I love it. You walk in, get a free chair massage, and get an awesome haircut. Everyone is really sweet and friendly. I highly reccomend requesting Chanika for a haircut. She does an awesome job and takes her time making sure it's perfect! Maria is also a really great stylist, you won't be disappointed with anyone! more

Best Salon and Spa in Northern Atlanta 10/9/2006

I have been going to this spa regulary for nearly three years. I love this place. The staff is friendly and the service is well. I love the facials; they are so relaxing and I fall asleep everytime (its because of the heated beds!). I also get my hair cut regulary here too. For all the curly-haired people out there, visit Ray or Oksana! I have never walked out mad with my new hair style. Pros: Service, Ambience, Staff Cons: Like most salons, Pricy more

Wonderfully Relaxing 10/6/2006

I went to Joseph & Friends this week for the first time and was very impressed. When I made my same-day appointment and heard the price for a master and mid-level stylist, I requested a Junior stylist instead (reasonably priced at $28). They made my appointment with Shanika, a stylist with 4 months of experience. She did a wonderful job! First she listened carefully to what I wanted done and made a good suggestion for my hair style. In the shampoo room Tabby gave me a complimentary 10 minute back and neck massage. Then Shanika gave me a nice scalp massage when she washed my hair. It was very relaxing and felt great! The cutting process took a little longer than I expected, but it was well worth it! With the $15 coupon I printed off CitySearch dot com the cost including tips was only $24! The salon is clean with relaxing hip music. It looks likae the kind of salon that could be really trendy and snobby, but everyone I met acted nice and professionally with a mellow attitude. I would highly recommend Joseph & Friends and the stylist Shanika to anyone! Pros: relaxing atmosphere, free massage, reasonable price for junior stylists more

The BEST for Your Hair!!!! 8/14/2006

I spent 10 years trying to find a good stylist. I went through cancer treatments and all of my gorgeous long natural spiral curly hair that was down my back fell out!! Over a few months it went from that length to about 1/4 inch long. About 8 years later, my hair would still not grow past my ears. It was damaged. It was scraggly. It was horrible looking, ugly and people were making fun of me horribly all the time. I sent my story and all my photos to every single salon in Atlanta till someone would listen. Through the 8 years I went to dermatologists, internal medicine doctors, and dozens of hair salons...no one would believe my story and no one could help. Pros: People and their skills!! Cons: NOTHING!! Worth every single penny!! more

Waste of Money 4/1/2006

I have had my hair cut twice and my hair colored once here. The first time I had one of the higher up guys and he didn't do anything to my hair but trim it. The second time I had one of the junior girls, Jamie. She was horrible. She just picked out a highlight color and went with it without asking me if that was the color I wanted. Afterwards you couldn't even tell my hair had been highlighted. I asked for layers to be put into my hair and all she did was trim up the front . Also, she was very rough. Overall I will not be going back. I paid a large sum of money both times and I expected my hair to look like it. Pros: parking Cons: Rude more

A Great Way to End the Week 1/14/2006

I've been going to Joseph and Friends for several years for my hair. A couple years ago I decided to expand my pampering and have pedicures. The staff at Joseph and Friends are all very welcoming and happy to help, but I'm so glad to have Skye doing my pedicures. more

Above and Beyond 1/10/2006

I have been going to Joseph & Friends for years for a variety of services. About two years ago I started having my nails done by Skye Wee-Tom. All the nail technicians are good but Skye goes the extra mile. She is extremely friendly and goes to extremes to make every visit relaxing. I enjoy her friendship and fun conversations. Her visit is the the last thing I do on Saturday to cap off my day. Recently, I was glad to find out that she had started doing facials, and even more pleased that it was the best facial ever! Skye is one of Joseph & Friends best assets! more

Ernest Lawhon is Awesome!! 12/13/2005

After reading reviews from this page, we (my 13 year old daughter and I) decided to go see what all the rave was about with Ernest. Well, I can honestly say, the rave was correct. I have very short hair and the cut was right on. My daughter has long thick hair and the cut was movie star worthy. She loved it and got many, many compliments from her peers and adults. Now there is one problem with Josephs, Ernest left. Good news is I found him under his name for his new salon in Marietta. TRY HIM, Hes AWESOME!!! more

Go Ahead and Go For It.... 4/8/2005

I've been going to the same "top 10" salon for 11+ years and had gotten into a rut with my longtime stylist. After much hesitancy, I made a decision to try Joseph & Friends based on a recommendation. Ernest Lawhorn was also highly recommended and rightfully so. After spending time evaluating what I was looking for, he gave me the best cut and highlights I have had in a long time. I'm happy to say that Ernest has a new, happy client for a long time to come. more

Thanks for my new hair! 2/4/2005

After many years of working in the corporate sector, my job was eliminated. In addition to updating my resume, I needed to update my "looks" including a refreshed hairstyle. Pros: Skilled stylist, Color expertise, Attentive service Cons: Distance more
