Best

was in town for work! stopped in one day and couldnt stop going back. ate there 4 days in a week. stop in the ""to go part"" ""take out"" faster and just as good!

Worst

We arrived early on a Sunday so we would not have a wait, which once opened we were seated immediately. That was the only good part. I waiter was less than enthusiastic and just...

If you haven't tried Joe's you MUST! Joe's is the ultimate experience. more

Didn't realize you had to pay to get a table, but you do, otherwise they will make you wait even if there are available tables. The calamari was ok, a little greasy. I also had a 2 lb Main Lobster. It was cut open so you didn't have to break it apart yourself which made it less messy. I felt the staff was rude as they were trying to rush us out. I wanted dessert but was so annoyed, I left. more

There are so many great restaurants in Miami and for some reason people feel like Joe's is up there. I eat there annually during stone crab season with my family. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The environment is cluttered and the service is iffy. Great stone crabs can be found at just about every other seafood-serving place in Miami for half the price. The entrees including the hash browns and salad are just as good as McDonald's. It is not worth the money and time spent dressing up just to enter the swanky restaurant. more

How do they pretend to gain extra money for give you a decent table? The other evening we did not tip the guy in the front door and treated us baaad! Gave us the worst table (a four peoble table and we we were eight!).\r I wont coming back ! I wiil go to Billy's next time. The same crabs, cheaper and nice people serving you. And I'm telling this story to all my joe's fans friends (a lot) who's main atraccion when they come to Miami is eat at Joe's. more

Growing up in Maine, I am accustomed to extremely fresh seafood, and I'm usually disappointed when I get seafood out. I was not disappointed here though. The lobster bisque was amazing, and the claw sampler I ordered was to die for. Everything just tasted so fresh, and the mustard sauce was perfect. I can't remember the last time I was just so happy after a meal, made my night! Of course, it's pricey, but definitely worth the splurge once in awhile. more

Love the cole slaw best I have ever had, sides are all very good and the stone crabs everything is very good. When I first started going I had to endure the somtimes hours of waiting for a table...if you know someone and for a small bribe you can get seated within minutes..... more

First time back after 10 long years out of Miami, and Joe's was better than ever! We were a big group, and the meat lovers were in heaven every bit as much as the seafood lovers! Avoid the stone crab if you love it but it's not the season, frozen just isn't quite the same, will be fabulous any season if you've not tried stone crabs before. more

Stone Crabs are great but when you do not feel like eating a stone crab, try their turkey Burger, awesome! more

There isn't much you can write about this place, except for the fact that it's made a name for it's self and everyone in Miami knows how good it is! more

Love it. Good coconut shrimp. The stone crab, lobster claws and king crab claws are awesome. The snapper that my wide had rocked too. They do not take reservations, but we sat right away at 8pm. Nice! Usually, I hear they are packed though, so plan to have some drinks at the bar. more

Such a banal food experience 4/27/2011

We walked in and we knew we had made a mistake, immediately. The ""old club"" restaurant look and feel of oh so many steakhouses that serve bad food. We should have left but it was late and we were hungry so we stayed and hoped despite our instinct telling us otherwise. The cocktails were good and this is the only high point of the evening. The fried calamari were clearly out of a bag, we each tasted one piece and gave up (they kindly removed it from our check). And what to say about the conch fritters? I tasted one and I could not go on (I can only tell you that I had better luck with the fritters from a street vendor outside Grand Cayman Airport). My husband had 3 as he was famished by now, but even he had to give up eventually. I wish I could say they tasted bad, but that would imply some taste. For main course we got the stone crab (why the claws arrived icy cold when we only ordered them 10 mins prior, is another of those mysteries. Unless there is an assumption that everyone love them very cold. ) and the yellow fin tuna steak. Where these dishes bad? No , just banal beyond belief. When I saw that they had added dry wasabi peas to the jicama salad, I realized what is so wrong with this place: the chef probably use Campbell's Kitchen web site for his recipes. If you like good food avoid this place. more

I wrote the last review, and after a full night I realized I got food poisoning from Joe's. Talk about adding insult to injury. more

Definitely not good. Got the $50 steak and sent it back, they have better steak at longhorn. Also got a side of stone crab and it wasn't very good either. The wife got swordfish picatta which was better than average. The signature hashbrowns should come with an oil cleanup kit. I don't know how they have made it this long. The calamari app was fair as well. more

my husband and i went to joes yesterday - 3/19/11. we got there before 6pm, still had to wait 1 hour. we sat at the bar, it was as cold as a fridge in there.!! we asked the bar tender if they could up the air, but that never happened - we had to have hot coffee to warm up!!\r i had crab cakes and my husband has stone crabs. we both said that the food was pretty tasteless. the crab cakes tasted of nothing, until you put the remoulade sauce on it. the sauce at least gave it a little flavour. we also had the creamed garlic spinach - average!. the lyonaise potatoes were the best thing we ordered - and they were just so -so!! all in all - very disappointing and not worth the money or the wait!!!\r joes has become complacent as they know they are popular!!!!!!!\r wouldnt go there again!!! more

Our fooditinerary begins immediately after hitting the tarmac in Miami as we cruise over to South Beach (SoBe) to visit the mythical Joe's Stone Crab. It was designated a historical landmark in 1975, which has led to a national obsession and recognition as The gastronomic destination in Miami's SoBe district. Joe's is only open during stone crab season, which began on Oct. 19th this past year and will close sometime this summer - TBA. We arrive at exactly 5:00 pm in an attempt to circumvent the notoriously long lines (1-2 hrs) and are seated almost immediately. I start with one of the House Favorites - Stuffy's Rhode Island Baked Quahog Clams and the Seafood Bisque and my dining companion has the Cioppino (San Franciscan fish stew). The clams were delicious, the bisque was too thick and the Cioppino (new menu item) was a disaster! We also ordered the fried oysters and fried zucchini… most items were prepared well and served in ginormous portions yet, were surprisingly affordable.\r \r But we came for the Stone Crabs (in Florida = the claw only, by law) and Joe's claws enjoy a cult following and justify the wait. The claws come pre-pounded, so they're expertly cracked and shell fragments can be easily discarded… exposing the succulent claw meat. The texture is firm yet flaky and has a distinctively sweet flavor, which pairs well with Joe's creamy mustard sauce or clarified butter. The keys to the kingdom do not come cheap - an order of 4 jumbo black-tipped claws (jumbo > 6 ounces) goes for $71.95 (Market price). But don't take my word for it, last season (their 97th) Joe's sold over 550,491 pounds of their signature stone crab claws. You do the math - OK, rounded off it's $26.5 million (just for the crab claws). The wait can be intolerable; thank goodness there is also a Joe's Take-Away.\r \r PRICE: $$$$ The pricey stone crabs obviously subsidizes the lower-priced items on the rest of the menu\r \r FOOD: The food seemed to be prepared well but some dishes were inconsistent. Their stone crabs were as good as advertised and their signature sides were quite substantial\r \r SERVICE: Rumor has it that the maître d' at Joe's earns 6 figures (open ˜ 9 months) due to the $40 preferred seating tips… $20 tips are reportedly, loudly rebuffed… bienvenido a Miami\r \r DECOR: Spanish Colonial Revival w/dark wood accents and furniture. High ceilings, black & white tiled floors, white tablecloths and servers in tuxedos. Restaurant easily holds 500 patrons more
