I went to Downtown Hyundai/Subaru to test drive a car and see what the monthly payments might be. I had no intention of buying a car that day. The salesman started off very nice...

These guys are............. 4/27/2010

Well i was car searching online and ran across jim reed dealership. so i searched a couple cars and found one i really liked. i called they dealership, ran a credit check, everything was fine. then i told the salesman i would come down tomorrow and if i liked the car i was buy it. he said ok he hold it for me and ill see ya tomorrow. so i made the two hour drive and when i got down there i had to walk the dealership over and over and over again tryin to find the guy i talked to couldnt find him. had him paged twice. once he finally showed up and we meet with him he informed us that he sold the car last night (after we talked yesterday, and then i asked him if he still had it before we drove down there and he said yes) these guys are lairs and crooks and will say anything to get your business avoid them at all costs or you might be writing some of the same stuff posted above Pros: dont think there are any? Cons: shady, overpriced, and they do nothing they say they will more

Biggest a-holes in town 12/30/2009

Jim Reid should go bankrupt 12/7/2009

A while ago they had a promotion for some used cars and I was looking to see if I could find my sister a cheap used car. So me and my friend went to the dealer and waited for them to open this ridiculous lot they closed off for this promotion. What we found out was they were selling the cars on the lot negiotiating the price right then and there. The advertisement said they had 10 cars under 2000. When we looked around they had one and it was wrecked. So I asked how much another car was slightly damaged too. But the guy just started pressuring me to buy a car I was just looking at. Then when I told him I wanted to pay for it he insulted me and my friend. This dealership is rude, overpriced, and should go bankrupt. Trust me dont go here. Go to another dealership like carl black. Or better yet Bob Frensly Jeep. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Bad Business 10/19/2009

These people say that they want your business but whine and moan about how they're taking a loss to meet your price (which was a very reasonable offer.) One salesperson suggested that I sell some of my personal belongings in order to make up the difference in what I was offering and what they would offer. It was even suggested to me by a salesperson to commit tax fraud by purchasing the car with an address in another state where I used to live that had no sales tax. I was shopping during Breast Cancer Awareness month and the dealership was donating $$$ for every car sold (which is a good thing!) but the salesperson kept referring to this as an additional loss to them that I had to take into consideration with the price I was offering, suggesting that I had to make up the difference they were ""loosing"" donating money to fight Breast Cancer. They were very uninformed about the cars they were selling (didn't know the difference between a Subaru Forester and an Outback) and very unprofessional in the way they dealt with us. They kept asking for a ""verbal commitment"" (which means absolutely nothing) before they would ""waste time"" negotiating a lower price. Consequently they will not be receiving our business. Pros: Only Subaru dealer in Nashville Cons: Stereotypical car salesperson strategies and attitudes more

Great Deal 10/9/2009

We went in to buy a car that we found on the internet. Everything was as described and we will definately go back to purchase our next vehicle. Pros: Nice People Cons: a little slow more

Price Gouging in the Subaru Service Department 9/22/2009

Should 30,000 mile tune-up cost $938.00? Call the Clarksville or Franklin dealers and they both say that they charge $506 and $538 respectively. I bought my car from the Jim Reed dealer, have had body work done in their body shop, and used to be pleased with their service. But the past three experiences have been awful; I have been cheated by Jim Reed's subaru service dept. on more than one occasion now- they did unnecessary and expensive work on my car before, only to have the repair not fix the problem. Then to be quoted $938 for a 30,000 mile tune-up? NEVER AGAIN! Cons: Crooks more

Biggest Crooks in Town 8/20/2009

Went to Jim Reed Hyundia to buy a new car. Spent 5 hours waiting to sign papers. Thought we had a deal. We signed a contract and drove our new car home. 5 days later we are told we need to ""resign"" the contracts. Seems our trade ""had issues"" and they needed more $$. We refused, we had a deal. They got their car back and we took our truck home. They treated us like dirt. Don't do business with these crooks. Pros: there are none Cons: Breech of contract more

Don't trust Jim Reed 5/28/2008

I bought a low mileage 1997 Subaru Legacy from an individual. I got a decent price and knew there may be some hidden issues. The seller indicated that a recent Carmax inspection revealed the car needed new front brakes. I noticed it was low on oil and realized it had oil leak issues. Again, I got a good deal and I was aware I'd need to put more $$ into it. Since Jim Reed deals with Subarus all the time, I took it there for an oil change and a ""once over"" to see what issues it may have. As expected, it had some oil leaks that needed repair. In addition however, the technician indicated that the rear brakes needed to be repalced. I questioned this as the seller had indicated it was the front braikes and was assured it was the rear brakes that needed to be replaced. I authorized the repair. After having to call multiple times to to follow up on the staus of the repair, I picked up the car and got the speech about what else needs to be done in the near future. I got in the car and pulled away and noticed that the inspection sheet was on the dash. At the first red light, I reviewed the sheet and low and behold, it indicated that the front brakes needed repair and the rear brakes were ok. I called as soon as I got to my office. The guy asked me to fax over the inspection sheet, since apparently they didn't kept their copy. He said he'd ask his repair guy about it and get back to me. Again after having to call back myself, he got back to me and said the repair guy made a mistake on the inspection sheet and it was indeed the rear brakes that needed to be replaced. He said his guy got confused. Call me crazy but the spots for him to mark the front and rear brake conditions were no where near each other. I don't see how he was confused. I don't trust that I got the real story. I'll be taking the car to another place to have the brakes inspected. If they tell me the front brakes should be replaced, I'll be going back for my front brakes for free! Pros: Can't say I found any. Cons: Don't feel comfortable that I got the truth. more

Fast and quick service! 2/14/2008

We had researched the Ford Explorer and almost bought one from one of those car superstores but didn't due to the severe rust on the 3 year old vehicle. Pros: Fast, friendly, knowledgable Cons: Should double check mechanics before selling a car more

Horrible 3/29/2007

I've heard of high pressure sales before but this was horrid. I was very honest when I got there about not being able to buy a car that day and that I was simply looking to decide what I liked. They didn't care. First thing they double teamed us. They had no idea how to interact with our son. Apparently they always send kids into this nasty little hole of a play area and thats that. Anyway, the car we wanted to look at they only had out in black. We said up front that we don't like black for cars since they are hard to keep clean. That only caused them to start pressuring us to take the black car. I kept thinking what does this matter...we aren't buying today and it says online that they have the color we like in back! So we let ourselves get pushed into a test drive. Really we allowed that because the lady that was talking to us was very knowledgeable. She filled out the papers and then sent us with the annoying guy who knew nothing about the cars. After the test drive which included annoying man being critical of my husband, the lady said that she had a brochure for us inside. We walked in and they immediately pointed our 18 mth old to the crusty play area and my husband away from me. After about 10 minutes of my husband getting the brochure the baby and I went searching for Hubby. When I found him the lady was trying to shove that black car down his throat. I got mad at this point and told them that we could not buy the car if we wanted to because we didn't know if our car was going to be considered totaled. Her response was that she would put off the downpayment. I said but if the car isn't totalled then we would have multiple payments to make so they said take it and then return it if your car isn't. I said but I am not driving since the accident (it stresses me out) and the guy proceeded to get MAD AT ME! What? Somehow we managed to get out of there but that didn't stop them from calling every day. Seriously! We did a buy a new car...at a different car lot. Pros: one of the people knew the vehicle specs Cons: they were just horrible to deal with more
