Made a reservation an hour before on a Friday night, and was given a great table (ask for a table upstairs by the balcony). I loved the ambience from the moment I walked in, the dining room was warm and elegant, very classic French. The food at Jiraffe is definitely a cut above, absolutely DIVINE! I had the pork chops (highly recommended!) which were amazing tender and flavorful, and the spiced apple chutney was something I'll be raving about for weeks, the best I've ever tasted, sweet but with a spicy kick to it (the server told me they added some crushed red pepper flakes). My boyfriend had the house specialty (some sort of fish I forgot the name), and he absolutely loved it. I have to say the portions were more than generous. My boyfriend is like a black hole when it comes to eating, and after giving him half of my plate, he said he was stuffed, that's how generous the portions are! Let me not leave out the best part, (dessert of course!) which will not dissappoint. We got the banana cream pie which had a delicate flaky crust and carmelized bananas on top with a rich but light cream filling. It was amazing, I was basically scraping the plate. \r

Service was great. Our server was really friendly, definitely had a sense of humor, and always attentive. He was also really helpful about wine pairings and more than willing to let us sample the different wines.\r

The only potential downside is the parking situation. We parked at the third street parking structure which is $3 flat rate at night, and walked about two blocks. I personally didn't mind the walk, especially after dinner but if you're looking to park right outside, you may need to exercise some patience (I didn't see a valet).\r

Jiraffe is a great place to go for a romantic evening out, I'm definitely planning on going again!\r
Pros: food, service, ambience
Cons: street parking may be hard to find
