Jerry Kelly Heating & Air Conditioning

I wish i had read the reviews before calling. The reviews which state Jerry Kelly Heating & Air condtioning is overpriced, are accurate. I called and told them that i believe the capacitor had failed on my condenser and asked for a repairman to come to my home. The repairman arrived at about 3:30. He went through the routine of checking the thermostat, he checked the unit in the basement and then went outside to the condenser unit and confirmed what i believed was the problem. The dual start capacitor had failed and needed replacing. He replaced the capacitor with a Titan HD 50+7.5 400vac capacitor and charged me a whopping $425. This is after the $37 online coupon was deducted. I was shocked to say the least. I know i can get the same capacitor for less than $50, so I'm left wondering what exactly they charge customers for. Service call $79, capacitor $50, labor must have been $296/hr. The service man left at 4:25, so a little less than an hour. They also try to sell you a ton of other recommended services. Complete ripoff!!! There must be a way to complain with the Better Business Bureau or someone else to keep businesses like this in check. Jerry Kelly has given me a bad taste for repairmen generally. if anything else fails in my home, i'll replace it myself.\r \r To be fair to the business, I was refunded the entire amount weeks later. I don't believe that's fair because a visit was made to my home and the repair made and so I owe for the service. i just didn't think the cost of the service was fair market rate. I admit i should have just paid for the service call and asked that they not make any repairs. more

Fortunately I knew a little bit about repairs to AC system to keep from being grossly overcharged by Jerry Kelly. My outside unit stopped working. I called Jerry Kelly and on Tuesday was told the problem was an open dual motor starter. The cost to replace it would be $ 383.00. The serviceman proceeded to tell me that there might be other issues which would not be known until the part was replaced, specifically the high voltage relay, $ 331.00 and possibly a Freon charge, $ 750.00. I did not let him ""fix"" the unit. Today I bought the part which is actually a ""run capacitor"" at Grainger Supply for $ 20.26, tax included, and installed it myself. The AC unit works perfectly. There is no doubt that trying to charge $ 383.00 for a twenty dollar part and then probably try to convince you that there are more issues is a blatant attempt to fleece customers, especially senior citizens of which I am one. more

Jerry Lelly is way over priced so get pricing from other contractors. I had a starter, silonoid valve and relay go out on my outside condensor last summer. They charged me (I agreed to pay it) almost $1,300. I got a quote a day later for $375 total for the same work and service call. Yesterday the same unit seemed to have the same issue so I called them and they said that it was the motor and another starter (different than the one replaced last year). I was quoted over $1,000 to have this done. I leared my lesson so I said no and I had another contractor come and fix it for $250. They are stealing from you at these prices and you should not use them for it. more

Noticeable difference from our old system. Didn't take us long to get used to our new system. We are enjoying it! more

We've had a couple of different guys from Jerry Kelly Heating & Air Conditioning over the past years, and they've been good. They explain the situation to us, and let us know what our options are. My parents have been using them since before I was born, and we've suggested them to neighbors ourselves. They have excellent service. For example, when they were afraid my furnace was going to go out, they brought over a little portable heater. They always treat us as family. They let us know if there is something we need to do, and we're grateful. They always accommodate our schedule too, especially if it changes in the middle of the day. more

I've been a customer of Jerry Kelly Heating & Air Conditioning's for almost 6 years. My AC works fine, and during the summer, my electric bill is $76. And my furnace keeps me warm during the winter. Everything works as it should! They'll come on a dime if I need them. This company is honest and know what they're doing. more
