From a recommendation by a friend I went to see RUDINA JORGO at James Joseph. After going to numerous high end salons and paying premium prices, I never got the ""ohhhs & ahhss"" that I have gotten since my visit with Rudina. I had heard she was the best but I was still nervous to see what she would do with my hair. She took the time to do a full consultation on my hair, evaluate what she needed to do and explained to me what she was going to correct. The results were amazing! So, if you are tired of paying lots of money for your hair with out feeling like you are getting your money's worth, come and see Rudina. She is AMAZING and by far the BEST COLORIST in BOSTON. I thought maybe this salon would have a bit more class than their other one, but this one is just as bad! They're never on time and the prices are way to expensive. Don't believe all the hype about this salon, you'll get your hair choped off! Im so disgusted with my cut and color, my snobby stylist didn't care want I wanted and did what he want to my hair. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!! Cons: rude staff more

ROGER is the best colorist of all 9/17/2005

I was in rough shape, color wise. Then I met ROGER, what an experience, a blend of talent and creativity. I enjoyed our conversation and how much he EXPLAINED what he was doing. this is one of the best deals ever for a haircut. wonderful service, extremely accomodating staff, and superb hair stylist (leo). i needed a cut, had little flexibility in my schedule (i was in boston only briefly for work), and had a fabulous experience. Leo was really accomodating, offered great suggestions without pressure, and was absolutely meticulous and artful in shaping my cut. the rest of the staff were kind and patient. the price is unbeatable. i'ld go back to boston for another cut here. great value, especially given the location (!). the salon is simple without frills, but i was there for the cut and not the frills. Pros: talented kind staff, inexpensive, great location more

Lindsey gives the BEST Blow Dry Ever!!! 7/15/2005

Lindsey gives the best blow dry I've ever had - whether I ask her to dry my hair straight or wavy. She gives you Jessica Simpson hair! Lindsey's also great at color and cuts. I live in NY but visit Boston twice a month and Lindsay is one of my first stops when I get to town. She has even come in on her day off for me. I only wish that she worked in NY. i've had so many problems with my hair lately, so i spontaneously booked a last minute appointment today. mary. is. a. genius. i love my new haircut. i really didn't have to describe what i wanted in detail -- she took care of everything. she really knows how to cut asian hair and the cut was worth the money. the whole staff was great and the atmosphere was laid back. this is definitely the best haircut i've ever had. more

don't believe the hype 5/1/2005

I just got the worst haircut I've ever had in my life--it looks so overlayered and unhip I want to cry every time I look in the mirror. I said specifically I didn't want a typical Boston newscaster-type look, and that I wanted to keep the length, and I lost about six inches in places and it looks just like a newscaster. I can already tell it's going to be painful to grow this out--I'm stocking up on hats and headscarves! Pros: nice enough people, nice environment Cons: woefully unhip more

I am new to the city and was nervous about finding a good salon. I called around and James Joseph answered my questions and made me feel comfortable. When I got there everyone was really nice and friendly. My stylist was Emily and she took her time talking to me about what I wanted and made great suggestions. Best Bang for the Buck 3/20/2005

After visiting James Joseph Salon I felt like a new person. I received a full highlight, and cut from one of the several amazing stylists, and have received an abundance of compliments ever since. Most people think a great color and cut on Newbury Street will cost you a weeks paycheck, but not at this trendy salon. The best hairdresser in town 3/16/2005

The best hairdresser in town is Eva at James Joseph Saloon. I have known her for few years now and she is amazing. She is a real artist with hair. I always asked her to do what looks best for my face and features and she always did her magic. During these years I have had many hair styles, from updos to coloring, haircutting and styling. If I go in feeling like I am an average looking person, I leave feeling beautiful. I get so many compliments about my hair , even from starngers in the street that want to know where I got my hair done. Eva keep up the good work. She is not only an excellent professional but also very sweet. If you want to look your best make an appointment with Eva. But, she is in high demand so make your appointment ahead of time. more

Disappointing Service 1/17/2005

I went in for a highlight and told the stylist I wanted to lighten up significantly my hair color. It came out even darker than the color of my hair when I walked in. Not to give up so easily on James Joseph because of all the awards, I called back and asked to have it fixed. They set me up with someone different (my stylist was sick)...and she does a rush job, fastest highlight i've ever gotten. Basically she just sticks some blond chunks in there, no consideration as to the color, or blending colors, a highlight job I could have gotten for $20. Then, they wouldn't blow dry it for me without me paying an extra $50! So i had to sit at a station and do it myself. For $250, I expect a certain level of service that was not met by my visit to JSS. more

You all must know that Eva is the best hairstylist --cut or color-- that anyone could ever ask for. Hands down the sweetest and most skilled. Worth your every penny and I think in my five years with her, I have referred everyone I know and they are equally as loyal. more

Paulo gave me exactly what I wanted. I showed him a picture and he made it fit my face, explaining to me everything as he went along. It was a bit pricier than the hairdressers I used to go to in the suburbs, but definitely worth it. Pros: atmosphere, expertise more
