First off, what struck me most about the place was how ridiculously friendly and welcoming it was. It wasn't over the top friendly where you find it impersonal, but the employees and the owner, Jackie, are genuinely sweet and make you feel right at home. I came the first time to bring two friends for brazilian waxing and was greeted with a cappuccino and smiles, I was able to stay in the room with my friends as they were waxed and took mental note of the process being absolutely blown away by the quality work Jackie did. I just went back today to get my own waxing done, and I can confidently say that Jackie is the best. She studied under the J sisters, who are the original 7 to bring brazilian waxing to the states and she knows her stuff. She got every little hair quickly and nearly painlessly. When it was too much for me, she put soothing lotions on and let me take a breather. I was left with no irritation and no bumps and i didn't feel sticky walking out. You would think that with such high quality service the prices would be high, but my waxing was only $55. Jackie insists that all women should be able to afford salon services and there is no reason to charge $150 for a hair cut. I'm also ridiculously joyed to have found a place to properly shape my eyebrows! I have been looking for a place to give me a proper arch like the Lebanese pop stars, and Jackie knew exactly what I was talking about and shaped them perfectly. I have never had a more relaxing experience in a salon and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I was actually referred to this place from another salon, I had never heard of it before, but it was very easy to navigate my way there, I had no trouble finding it at all, and upon doing so I thought the building itself was remarkably beautiful with old fashioned charm. I was looking to get a brazilian wax, first timer, and obviously a little nervous, but Jackie was so personable and friendly, and definitely put my mind to ease. It wasnt expensive at all, like most places in this area are, and the quality of service was exceptional. My wax turned out great, and Ill definitely be coming back for more services. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great salon, check it out! more

I had been going to a personal friend's salon for many years and NOW I see I was MISSING OUT ON A REAL PROFESSIONAL COLORIST even though she loves doing color. EVERYONE (EVEN people who only see me in passing) stops to tell me how much they love my new style, color and highlights! PLEASE NOTE: IT'S NOT ABOUT MONEY FOR THIS SALON! Wow! I passed by this amazing historic building on East Post in White Plains and couldn't tell what it was but saw a menu box on the side of the building with a menu of services and was shocked to see how affordable the haircuts and color prices were, so I went in to explore this space. WOW! absolutely beautiful and the haircut and color I had done was great and they use Aveda color and Davines which is another natural color line from Italy that smells amazing!!! For a $55 haircut I had my scalp massaged a cappuccino and a makeup application! i asked the owner why were her prices so much lower then everyone elses and she offered so much i didn't get it. She said she wanted to gurantee quality that was available to everybody... I strongly recommend this place and with prices like that I can go back more often. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I have tried 3 other salons in the area with no success, but after one visit to Selha, I am hooked! They are so friendly and talented! I love my hair and eyebrowls every time I walk out of there. Alex is so excited and passionate about hair that you really feel comfortable, pampered and beautiful. So before I tell everyone how great this place was, I want to thank Alex for my cut color and a whole bunch of laughs. Not only did Alex make me feel like I was her new best friend, she made sure that I understood everything that she was going to do before she got started. She was patient with all of my questions and with my nerves. I was giggly because I was nervous, excited, and just overall happy that I had finally found someone that knows exactly what they are doing and what will work for YOU and not them. The salon is in a great location, there is a big parking lot right across the street. It has easy access to the highway. I drove over an hour to get there (I live far) but it was worth every minute and will definitely return. I was greeted with a smile and coffee, water, tea.. the works.. Pros: Great Location and Alex is the best perk! Cons: I parked in the wrong place got a ticket, but paid it with a smile.. lol more

I have been seeing Alex at Selha for about a year now. Her work speaks for itself...It spoke to me so I went to see her at Selha and I am so glad that I did! Her talent is imeasurable and her aptitude to create georgeous looks is not like any stylist that I have seen before. She really takes the time to get to know you and really listens...Then takes the approach to styling with your lifestyle, and personality in mind. Her looks are versatile and effortlessly beautiful. She is very personable, passionate, and I am always treated like a queen. It is such a treat to see Alex at Selha...And I really have never felt more beautiful since finding her. I went to this salon a week ago for color. I read about it on city search, and i went to see Alex. She explained everything in such detail, and recommended the best new ideas! I am a single mom, and I don't have time for a lot of maintenance. After styling my hair myself for the past few days, it still looks just like it did when I first left the salon! Also, I was so surprised at how reasonable their prices were!I have never been stopped on the street before and received so many compliments ! I highly recommend selah colour bar and alex! I have been going to Alex for my hair for about 4 years and she has always been excellent. I hired her as my wedding stylist for myself and all of my wedding party. She was amazing. She colored my hair the perfect shade a few days before the wedding. She showed up on time, with tons of energy and worked her heart out doing make up and hair for 5 bridesmaids and myself. She matched the style of my hair perfectly with my dress and didn't even need input from me. She nailed the make up for me as well. All of my bridesmaids looked beautiful with their hair and makeup. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist and makeup artist for my wedding. Alex's work was one of the few things that went without any hitches on my wedding day. If you are getting married and want someone who will be on time, on the ball and make you look amazing then I hope she is free on your wedding day!!! Pros: Perfect - if, ands or buts about it. You have to check this out! I live across the street, and usually go for coctails at night. I never realised that it was a salon during the day. The nicest girl did my eyebrows. I highly recomend Luz for eyebrow styling! She made me a mojito while I waited becuase I was early. This is such a hidden gem...everyone should experience! My boyfriend took me to Selah last week for our anniversary. i got a haircut and color by Michelina and Alex and he got a hot shave and a haircut with Dave. while we were there we also got a complentary martini and hand massage. It was the perfect start to a wonderful eveing!! Then he surprised me later and took me back to Selah (which turns into a lounge). There was a bottle of champagne and fresh fruit waiting for us upstairs in VIP. The atmosphere was amazing, the stylist were down to earth, the prices were reasonable, and the lounge was beautiful! I went to the salon last week, and the stylists were so friendly! The place is beautiful! I couldn't believe that they turned into a lounge at night! I had my hair cut and highlighted by Michelina and Alexandra. They made me feel so comfortable, and hot! While my color processed, they made me a martini, and I had a hand massage! I used to go to salons in manhattan and I have never had this great of an experience! They are new, so call them soon! Pros: Close to home, and innovative! pay no attention to the obvious bs by toddz. This place has one of the most original energies in the area. Good enough to make City lovers like myself and my friends want to skip the late night parties in manhattan and kick back with some real people. The space is classic and beautiful, the staff is comprised of top artists in their industry. On top of that, their style is something to be admired and aspired to by all the cookie cut shops in westchester. If nothing else, its worth the try, maybe you wont love it as much as I do, but I doubt it. (OH ps.. its one of the most reasonably priced places in the area, both as a Salon and a Lounge). This is by far the tackiest place I have been to in a long time. The people (both the clientele and employees) are very low class. If you are a fan of diamond heads this is the place for you. The bartenders and other staff are highly unprofessional and could use some fashion advice. The drinks are over-priced and watered-down. In fact, the owner invited me for a drink recently and I wouldn't go there if it were free. Don't waste your time. Found out about monthly parties thrown here by Valley Entertainment through Myspace. Music is awesome. Good mix of hip hop and random old school songs. Crowd is good and always seems to be having a blast. If you look them up on Myspace, the two on the main page (must be involved in promoting)- Michelle and Jean Marie- are gorgeous. Finding a salon that's not too girly but not a barber/buzz shop was a task. I've been in white plains for eleven years and have finally found my place. The salon has a great vibe and the conversation is always intelligent. Eric and Jacky are incredibly friendly --they invited me back for a drink later that evening.
