As a male, I am often intimidated walking into a salon for a wax. Not here. The staff is open and wonderfully friendly. Jackie does a spectacular job! She works quickly and immediately made me feel comfortable. Moreover, I've had a back wax at other expensive salons and have always had a breakout problem. Once again, not at Selah! On the other side, Alex is an amazing stylist. Several of my friends and coworkers are clients of hers and she always gets rave reviews. This was my first attempt at trying Brazilian waxing in Westchester as I've always gone to a salon in Manhattan even after moving to White Plains. I'm so glad I found this place since this is where I'll be going from now on. The salon is very clean and they make you feel so comfortable and welcome. Sitting at a table, over lunch with some close friends we discussed having a Brazilian done. I figured that I was planning on tending the garden myself, so what the hell...give it a try!!! I started to get really nervous as we neared our appointment but this place was highly recommended!!! I had my first Brazilian wax done today!!!!!!! From the time I entered the salon, I fell in love with the decor and how my party was greeted when we first arrived. We were immediately offered something to drink and then one by one led downstairs to the waxing room. Jackie is AMAZING!!! I was nervous, scared (I don't do well with pain!!) but I started to relaxed as Jackie kept the conversation going, which definitely eased my nerves. The positioning for the waxes, for my first time...not as awkward as I expected because she guides you through the process. Jackie recommended ways in which I could maintain the area. I have to say that I will definitely be back!!! Definitely a 'clean sweep' and it really did not hurt as much I expected...I love the fabulous job that was done!!! I have been having my hair cut by Alex for the past two years. I first met her when I was helping out on a photo shoot for Westchester Weddings, which was coincidentally her first day. Even on her first day, I saw such poise and talent with Alex as she performed the hairstyles for our models. From that I was sold and had Alex immediately cut my hair. She is the most fabulous hairdresser I have ever had--so great in fact that I switched from a person who had cut my hair for 10 years to Alex. She really listens to what you want but amazingly enough if you tell her nothing and to just cut the vision she sees, it always comes out perfect. There is no "signature" hair cut she does as she cuts to fit your own face. I have been so pleased with her results that not only do I get my hair cut every four weeks but almost all my friends and family go to Alex for their hair. An added plus--she has the best personality and greets each client with a huge smile on her face!!! Go get your hair cut by Alex, and I promise you will never go anywhere else. After going blindly from expensive day spa to expensive day spa looking for a stylist with confidence, who knows what looks good, and how to execute it, I finally found Alex last summer on CitySearch. She is all of those things! I'm not afraid to hand over my hair to her and let her do what she wants because I know it will turn out looking great every time. She knows how to use hair color to bring out your features and cut your hair to match your lifestyle. I recommend her to everyone looking for a stylist! Selah was referred to me by a friend. I still had to do my own research though! So, onto city search I went. Read a lot of good reviews and a few negative ones. Like most people the negative ones were what stood out. I was about to start looking into other salons when I saw that the owner responded to the negative comments. She stood up for her business and offered to fix the problem in any way she could... She won me over! Faith renewed! I booked a cut with DJ (absolutely amazing cut, listened to what I asked for with zero attitude..actually he is possibly the nicest person I have ever been to). I also booked a brazilian with Jacquie. I have been getting them done for almost 10 years - from denver to connecticut, she is the best by far! Perfectly priced too! I decided while there to get my color done too. Jacquie started mixing right away - I didnt have to schedule another appointment, or come back! I have no earthly idea what she did, but it looks amazing!! Somehow she made my hair look the amazing blonde it did when I was 4! Multi tonal, shiny - perfect! I cant imagine you have a need they cant meet, but I bet if you did - they would find a way to make you happy! If you are looking for high quality results in a fun atmosphere you'll find it at Selah! I had my first Brazilian wax yesterday and it was a surprisingly good experience! Jackie greeted me when I walked in, offered me something to drink, and led me through the very nicely decorated salon area to a small waxing room downstairs. She made sure to keep up a patter of convo, which did well to ease my nerves because I was kind of terrified lol! She told me exactly what she was going to do before she did it, and the positioning for the wax wasn't nearly as invasive and uncomfortable as some of the horror stories I've heard from my friends who get waxed at other places. She was relatively quick, and she worked in small sections while pulling the skin taut to maximize clean results and minimize the pain. And to all the ladies who say that waxing is painless, I must disagree :-D however, with Jackie, it was a quick, fleeting type of pain, and the smooth results were well worth it! She also made sure to advise me on how to care for the area afterwards which was nice. Extraordinarily friendly service, efficiency, and a reasonable price means I will definitely be back in 5 weeks! I've been a regular at Selah for over 18 months and have gotten the best hair color, cuts and waxes! I'm moving west and the thing I'll miss most about White Plains is SELAH! I looked forward to each visit, and even though it was a one-stop-shop for all my beauty services, I liked to space out my appointments just to go more often! I came here for my first Brazilian wax. Jackie is awesome and super nice. It was a great experience! She works fast and is very professional. I was afraid it would hurt but I hardly felt any pain. I could honestly say that this is the best place to get a Brazilian wax. It's been about a year since i started going there and I still remember walking in there for the first time by myself for my first ever brazilian wax. The minute I stepped in the door everyone was super nice and accomodating. Once I met Jackie I was hooked on the place. She is so sweet and comforting. She knows what she is doing, she rarerly makes you feel any pain and top things off, she always gives you suggestions on how to avoid irritations and what products to use in order to properly moisturize. I was very happy with my waxing experience and with the salon's services. I have brought several friends there and I will continue to recommend this place. I have gone there for several waxings and I am headed back this week. Jackie is so quick, that she makes it the closest thing ever to a painless waxing. And she makes you feel very comfortable which is hard to imagine when getting an bikini/brazilian. She did my lip and eyebrows during lunch. It was so gentle and didn't make me all red and puffy so you couldn't even tell where I'd been when I returned to work. Amazing! From my experience I was going for a body waxing. In the beginning I didn't know what to expect but once I stepped into this magnificent establishment I was very impressed first of all by the design. But i do promise you if your in doubt of getting a body waxing dont be. Selah Salon makes it happen. Exellent Job and Outstanding service. Would suggest it to anyone.. Comfortable atmosphere and the passion for the profession is significant in the service. The staff was extremely friendly. The space is gigantic with customer satisfaction in mind. I've been to the salon awhile ago and forgot to leave my review. First of all I loved the atmosphere there. Everything looks really pretty. So my first impression walking in the salon was already good. And then it just got better. I had the full attention of Marija and Lori from the first minute on. They totally understood what I wanted and advised me very well. I felt immediately comfortable and in very good hands. Lori did my color and Marija cut my hair. I had to get used to the color at first because it was my first time being a total blonde. But after two weeks I was so used to it and I still just totally love it. I can say for sure, I've never ever been treated so well in any other hair salon. I felt like part of a big family. I'll go there as long as I have the chance to. This was my first time ever getting a Brazilian Wax so I was a little nervous. Jackie was amazing! She met me at the door and made me feel as if I had know her for years. She made the whole experience comfortable, relaxing and almost painfree. She was knowledgeable , professional, and informative as to what I had to do to maintain the area, when I should return. I am soo happy i found Lori, i was googling her name and i came to this website.I happen to read the review about her and had to write in. UNTRUE!!!! I have been Lori's client for ten years and have followed her everywhere, she has always been the most amazing hairstylist for me and many of my friends! NEVER has she done anything that i didnt ask,especially cut more hair then i wanted. I am a 1/4inch off girl,very particular and she has ALWAYS listened. I trust her and only her with my hair, so when i read this review i was shocked,i truly believe it is a jealous stylist in the area trying to hurt business!!!!! Don't let the classy atmosphere fool you. I asked for a trim and Lori took off five inches! Jackie tried to fix it and only made it shorter. Now I have to wait a whole year before it grows back. Such a disappointment... where did they train? And to make it worse I was a returning customer!! I was told to ask for a 'dusting' on my next visit and both Lori and Jackie HACKED AWAY. I wish I could have my hair and money back. more

I had my hair extensions done by Renee from Elite Hair at Selah and my hair extensions look so natural you can't tell the difference from my hair and the extensions that were put in. The price was so affordable and the maintenance is easy. Im going back for my touch up in 2 weeks. This could be addicting especially now because its not killing my pocket... more

Let me start by saying that I use to manage a high end hair salon in Boston...therefore, I am very particular in regards to who cuts and colors my hair. As soon as I walked in the person at the front desk greeted me with a smile which made me feel so much more at ease. Sometimes its the little things that matter...I asked where the bathroom was and she went as far as walking me there instead of just pointing. I booked for color and had Lori and she was amazing!!!! Great personality and very talented. We discussed the color and worked with my hair can handle and what I wanted. I absolutely loved the end result. The place is very chic, open and relaxing.
