Booked with reservation with colleagues based on it being rated Best in Portland...The service was great, but the food was a huge disappointment. The calamari was great, fresh an...

Exquisite dining experience! 2/12/2006

REALLY wonderful! The food was a delight to the senses; pleasing to look at, with varying textures, and amazing combinations of flavors. Four of us had appetizers, dinner, AND drinks for under $100! We knew they'd only been open a month, so we didn't make reservations. We didn't know how amazing they were, but apparently other people already did; make sure to make a reservation. Pros: Atmosphere, Uncrowded seating, FOOD!!! Cons: New staff, but nice more

Loved it! 1/24/2006

This was quite honestly the perfect dining experience. The food was exceptional with just enough choices, and prices that were more than reasonable. And while food is one thing, there is something to be said about atmosphere, and Iorio has just winning combination. It is niether ""table-cloths"" stiff, nor ""paper napkins in the metal dispenser"" too casual. There's a relaxing elegance that will most definitely bring you back. The chef is to be commended on creating a resturaunt that totally captures the spirit of the Northwest as well as the Hawthorne district -- then kicks it up a notch for something totally unique. Pros: ambiance, service more

The Best New Hawthorne Eatery 1/21/2006

The "in training" server was a little distracting, but otherwise the ambience was fresh and very comfortable. I especially liked not being cramped. The menu was perfect for a romantic personal experience. A fresh and new addition to Portland Italian cuisine, and far more impressive than I expected at such an affordable prices. Someone who survives on super sizing might be disappointed in the portions, but I found the entire dining experience a gem is easy to see why the Willamette Weekly thought so highly of them. Pros: spacious, wine list, not expensive Cons: Hawthorne trafic, no Johnny Walker, closed Sundays more

Iorio on the money 1/12/2006

Iorio is a great place and a great addition for this neighborhood. My wife and I were very surprised with the excellent menu. I've taken the family and the atmosphere is ""right on the money"" for simple elegance with the kids. Now I've starting taking clients there for lunch and it's great. Chris, the chef visits the table with every visit and we plan on seeing a lot of him. more
