Oh my lord! These clowns called me today. Same publication scam. I talked to the infamous""Katie Dotman"". I lost it with ""Katie"". She insisted on payment asap. I demanded an invoice be emailed to me and she wouldn't do it. She got very defensive when I lost it. I told her I never signed a damn thing and never received an email. Just some idiot telemarker that I should have hung up on immediatley a few months ago. She kept saying ""just use your company credit card"". Katie, how did you know I was born yesrterday? She kept threatening me that this would go against my company's credit rating. When I told her I was the local account executive for this $15 BB company and the address she had on file is my home address as I work from home she said ""Oh"". I told her I'd call her back. My wife works at a law firm and can really pile it on so I may have her call tomorrow. SHUT THESE CROOKS DOWN NOW!!!!!! more

Wow, hard to believe these people are still alive and kicking. We just received the exact scam, word for word, based on the comments I've read here dating back to 2007. Of course, I'm not going to pay *anything* until I see confirmation of an order w/authorization. That is when the (at first) congenial female collection agent turned ugly. She ended up (most likely in frustration) stating that the phone call was recorded (hey, you can't record anything in MA unless the person is told first that s/he is being recorded) and threatened me with slandering the good name of a 54-year old reputable business. Good riddance, I say.\r \r My only question, is where is the DOJ? They are too busy going after the US citizen trying to gamble on an internet site w/in the confines of their private residence or some other such thing, I guess. more

ICR and Progressive 8/16/2011

If there was a zero star rating, that's what I'd select. Got a call from a ""Lindsey"". I asked her to email me the sequence of events and she said she would not do that. Well, of course she wouldn't. That's what all the online article said would happen. I asked for the audio file of the conversation she said took place with the verbal ok. Of course, those are destroyed after 90 days, and, of course, the ok happened more than 90 days prior. Thanks to everyone's posts here and elsewhere. It's a shame these people get away with it! more

For Real Tho..... 7/27/2011

last week I had Amanda Sprague from ICR to call me ab a $2.99 bill that just had to be an oversite. It was for a business publication I had received and she was giving me the opportunity to clear things up, waiving her processing fee and all that. She wanted a Credit card or Debit payment over the phone. So I told her I didnt have my card but I could overnight a Money order. Well when I found that it was going to be $37 to overnight it, I said regular mail it is. The next day she was calling several times ab a mistake. The bill was $299.00. Heck No I'm not paying it. I dont have a product, why would I pay it? 2.99 for a sample pamphlet was one thing but thats all I;'m getting up off of. So I ask her for the company's contact info so I could clear this issue up with them, she tells me She was the contact person so I tell her o.k, fwd or fax me the bill and contract, she started to get UGLY with me, so I got ugly with her and told her I thought it was a scam and hung up. She then called my boss... little did she know my boss knows how to deal with her kind. so she got told off and hung up on again. So the next day her ""Boss"" calls to settle the matter and promises to send me the invoice via email thought she would not talk to or email my boss. I've already contacted and file a complaint with the BBB. Who else can I contact there? more

ICR and Progressive 5/4/2011

Just had a Amanda call me telling me this must have been an over site that I didnt pay $299 past due invoice. This is such a scam!!!! I asked her to send me the invoice and I would call them to clear it up and Amanda said she wasnt going to give me their info. so I could call them and bug them about it!! The nerve!!! I then got on line and found all the scamming thats going on. I was so mad I decided to call this Amanda back, she answered to my surprise...I stated what going on? she said what do you mean? I said I wasnt ignorant and seen all the fraud that was going on she said you can speak to my supervisor I said no I didnt need to because I wasnt paying the bill and that they were full of Shi* I hung up on her, needless to say I never received the fax she was supposed to send me. more

I would love to tell you more about it so if you are intrested you can email me at danielle71680@yahoo (dot com) and I will be happy to tell you all about the scam that this company is running! Hope to hear from you! more

They're still at it!! 12/30/2010

This company is still trying the same old scam - I got a call stating I had ordered a subscription to ""Progressive Business Newsletter"" in May, but had not paid any of my monthly invoices. They even had my BIRTHDATE and email address as ""proof""! Amazing! They wanted my credit card number TODAY - supposedly because the fiscal year was ending today and my company's credit would be hurt if I didn't pay within this year. To make a long story short, I didn't pay, but this is ridiculous! Where are the cops when you need em? more

Scammer 2/15/2010

I received a call from Kathy Rema from ICR.. same story as everyone else.. She got nasty when I would not let her speak with my boss. She said she was going to call him at home. She also threatened to ruin my personal credit. Finally she said ""This will not go away!"" and hung up. She called the next day and when I told her that according to the NY State Division of Corporations IRC of Vestal NY is ""Inactive"" and ""dissolved"" for not paying franchise taxes, she said that is a different company and put me on hold! Really?! How many ICRs in Vestal NY are there? And she expected me to sit on hold?! Yeah right! \r Funny thing is, two days later, Progressive Business Publications called and asked for our CFO. (We are a small dental office.) I asked if this had to do with an IRC matter. No, she wanted to send him a free trial copy of CFO and Controller Alert! Seriously?! I started laughing, told her they were scammers and hung up! We all got a good giggle about that! more

This company should be put out of business! 10/27/2009

This company is a complete scam that preys upon nonprofit organizations. I wasted several hours of my time that could have been better spent on work on behalf of my organization investigating their bogus credit collection call. With the hundreds of complaints about this company, I do not understand why the government or New York Secretary of State has not investigated. Note: There is no zero stars option or this company would have a solid zero rating. Cons: Fraud, False Use of Names of 3rd Party Organizations more

They represent scam artists. 3/10/2009

They represent scam artists to collect money from orders never given. tidbit. 3/9/2009

ICR is/was a customer at a bank i used to work for. every one of the employees is rude (and funny enough, most of their accounts are frequently overdrawn). I hated waiting on them. If it is/was a scam, it's quite an elaborate, and successful one! I'm just not quite sure it could go undetected for so long with all the business with banks they do. Nonetheless, it does seem very fishy... more

Scam alert: crooks with a legit facade....should be making license plates in jail! 12/15/2008

Got the junk newsletter I religiously threw away, got the crazy invoice and the phone calls for subscription, got the collection calls from a rude and pushy she-man that tried to boss me around and get me to pay for my alleged subscription. Never got anything from them but an attempt to intimidate me into payment. I wish I were on the East coast, to pay them a visit and talk face to face about my case, what I owe them -allegedly- and what their claims are...life is so unfair...so little time to have fun and great distances to travel. I am looking forward to their phone calls now that I know that they are scam prone. If there is an action in justice, I am in! Cynthya would look good in a stripped suit! lol Pros: Ineefficient staff Cons: Harassment more

VERY ELABORATE SCAM!! 11/25/2008

No difference in the story, I received a phone call from a Lynn Gregory attempting to collect this debt the that the company i worked for owes for this publication that i never authorized. But same story, they have my birthday, yyada yyada. I was actually concerned for a moment as they sound very convincing on the phone. I did my due diligence in googling the phone number and this page amongst tons of others came up. I printed every single page of material I could find and faxed a letter along with all the pages of rants to progressive business publications. Does anyone have connects with fox 5 on your side or anything like that? We need to put an end to these people preying on unsuspecting innocent people with hostile and highly unethical business practices of both Progressive Business Publications and this fictitious collections company International Credit Recovery Inc. Which by the way is probably created, owned, and run by Progressive Business Publications as a separate entity in this EXTREMELY elaborate scam. In my closing statement of my letter to them, i wrote ""I hope your company ceases from these highly hostile and unethical business practices, otherwise I will have no sympathy and nothing but PURE JOY when your company gets shut down by a HUGE class action suit."" Cons: EVERYTHING more

Prey on unsuspecting companies 8/21/2008

I would be more than happy to gather a group to pursue a class action suit against this company. It's amazing that such as sham operation is allowed to exist. I think this would be an excellence opportunity for a class action attorney to purse. I imagine they are making millions by pushing their relatively small fake invoices through accounts payable departments across the country. I have worked at three different companies where interaction with this company and it's partner-in-crime Progressive Business Publications has been a constant battle. Cons: frauds more

They are scammers 6/4/2008

A year ago I received a friendly phone call asking me if I wanted a free copy of a Marketing report. I received the free copy, then emailed the only email on the publication to cancel. They continued sending it, and then billed us. I, then called and left a message to cancel on their ""subscription line"". They stopped for a few months, then started again. I told the financial person here that I have cancelled on numerous occasions, that they should not be billing us. Today, June 4th, one year later, I get a call from International Credit Recovery saying that the bill has gone into claims, and they are a collection agency. I faxed a letter, with back-up that I cancelled, and am sending them a FedEx package demanding their direct signature. This is a nightmare. It is very sad that people are out there doing business this way. This is reflection of the people and the product. Do not respond to anyone asking if you would like a copy of a free marketing report. more

Beware of scam collections associated with Progressive Business Publications and this company 11/27/2007

Under no circumstances should you provide any financial information to this company. Their scam is that they claim to be calling from a collection agency for a business publication (another scam business--Progressive Business Publications) with which you had a ""trial subscription"" that was not canceled and therefore you owe money. They want you to pay on the spot and will even ask you to use a personal credit card and expense it. Ask them to prove that you did subscribe and they will not be able to because it is indeed a scam. Cons: Total scam--beware! more

an outrageous fraud 10/1/2007

I also was contacted by this company. They claim that I ordered some nonexistent subscription to a newsletter from Progressive Business Publications. They then make what they call is a courtesy call to collect on this bill. They claim that we authorized such a purchase because they know our phone number. Of course we didn't authorize such purchase, and the company is rather evasive about where they are located. Don't fall for this scam, they are an incredible fraud and if two more people would like to join me in stamping out this menace we can perhaps get the local district attorney to send the business owners to jail.\r \r please contact me at edward@magicmouse dot com to cooperate to get rid of this fraud. more

A Scam. 6/13/2007

This is really a fraudulent organization posing as a collection agency which mines public records for companies and people, then calls up to say that the company subscribed to and was invoiced for a client's fictitious magazine. They say that the company was invoiced several months ago, and has received copies of its magazine, and that they are now going to enforce collection actions. They try to first say that ""it must be an oversight"" on the part of the company - but their veil of fraud is clearly transparent. They'll also quote someone in the company's birthday, and say they couldn't have received it if no one placed the order. This is a lie. These people are perpertrating a scam. Hang up on them when they call. For more horror stories, Google their phone number, 607-748-4686. more
