Review content:
The seating was prompt, the service (waitress) was fine, the food was pretty good. The manager's level of customer service dumbfounded me - really, in an incredibly negative way. I had a $50 gift certificate that I received in April of 2006. It had an expiration date of July, 2006 (which I found ridiculous). Before going to the restaurant I called and told them I had an expired certificate and asked them if they would honor it. They told me to go ahead and bring it in. When we got our bill, I included the certificate with my credit card. I informed the waitress that it was expired, but I was told it would be honored. She said ""of course, no problem"". Two minutes later she came back to our table with the certificate in hand saying, ""I'm sorry - my manager will not allow this. It's too old."" I asked to speak to the manager. He came to the table and pointed at the expiration date. He then angrily said, ""where did you get this anyway!?"". I informed him that my brother gave it to me for my birthday and that he paid an honest $50 for it, that India House has been able to use for the past year and a half. I pointed out that the present value of that $50 is definitely greater than $50. He said, ""no, no, it's expired."" In the end, he agreed to give me $25 credit for the certificate. I am ABSOLUTELY APPALLED, and I will never return to this restaurant or recommend that anyone else does. Pros: Food is pretty good. Cons: Customer service doesn't exist.
