Sushi was average. Management and service were laughable. This was my first and will be my last experience at Ichiban. It was a friends birthday and were looking forward to a grea...

YUM YUM YUM! 8/1/2002

WOW...I have eaten sushi all over the world and Ichibans in Salt Lake is one of the best! The atmosphere is great and the food is even better! The owner is always around and makes you feel welcome! One more great thing...if you are a regular customer you can keep your chop-sticks on a rack behind the bar! I am still striving for that but I think its coming soon! Its a great restaurant! Enjoy!!! more

Class Act! 7/26/2002

Besides the consistent, friendly service, the food is outstanding. Waiting can actually be a pleasure due to the salt-water tank full of brightly colored fish. more

Subarashi desu ne! 7/24/2002

Friendly service, beautiful atmosphere, and consistently the most satisfying and tasty sushi I've had in SLC. Great for special occasions. more

sushi lover 7/19/2002

Ichiban has a great atmosphere. Peggy is a great sushi chef and I havn't ever had hamachi as fresh as hers. If you havn't tried the fresh wasabi, you need to. My husband and I are addicted to it. The fish is always delicious and the desserts are straight from heaven. more

Yummy Yummy 6/28/2002

Well, I read all the negative reviews about Ichiban and have to say I was somewhat surprised. Value-wise, it seems cheap to me, especially after living in Boston and paying twice as much for half the sushi. I'd say that, for the most part, the bad ratings are coming from 'sushi snobs.' I think that most people will have a great time at Ichiban and thoroughly enjoy their meal. Tempura fried rolls are excellent, whether or not they are ""authentic"" sushi. This is the place I take people who have never had sushi before and are somewhat less than excited about eating raw fish... so they can have some cooked rolls first and then work up the appetite to try something raw. Mmm... Pros: Location more

MY FAVORITE!!! 5/19/2002

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City. The sushi bar is wonderful; great service, great atmosphere and super fresh sushi. Go with some good company, sip some sake and enjoy a great meal. I eat here at least once a month, and have never been disapointed. more
