Best

Very expensive. But worth every penny! Huge portions! Great Food! Great service! Best to go in groups as their sides are really big! Also, set aside a couple of hours to rea...

Worst

Certainly not the best money I've spent. Could think of better places to go.

Steak Supreme 10/24/2002

A bit pricy, but it has, by far, the best mouth watering steak I have ever had. I make it to Minneapolis every couple of years and always make it a point to have dinner at Manny's. Pros: excellent food, good service Cons: make reservations, expensive more

What Happened???? 10/24/2002

Maybe I should give it a second chance, but our first visit was a dissappointment. Our waiter was pretentious, and the noise level was deafening. After carefully ordering our steaks and their respective levels of doneness, we were all dismayed to be served meats that were ALL over-cooked!!! The ""rare"" steaks were actually ""medium cooked""; and the ""medium"" steaks were well-done, dry and tasteless!!!! InExcusable for the prices!! We didn't complain, however, because we didn't want to offend our hosts: Two Big Manny's Fans. The side dishes were huge, but blandly prepared! We had large portions left over, but none of us liked our meals well enough to take home . Was this just an ""OFF"" Night??? -or have others had similar experiences??? We have dined at some of the best-rated steakhouses in the U.S., and were expecting this to be on par with the best. Pros: big portions Cons: overcooked meats, haughty attitude, noisy and crowded more

Too Dark 10/24/2002

The steak was great...I expected nothing less, but my gosh turn some lights on. I had a hard time eating my steak cause it was so dark in the restaurant. Pros: Excellent steak, its history, pictures in restauran Cons: Too dark, Smokey more

all we are saying is give meat a chance 10/17/2002

Manny's is the unequivicol standard for a complete ""chop-shop"" experience, one that can't be beat - or rarely matched - in any other city I have visited. There are two critical and somewhat undocumented tips to follow when heading to Manny's. First, promptly dismiss from your table anyone that orders the Salmon. I mean, I'm quite sure it's fresh, but after all this place is all about the steak! Second, be sure to ask to sit in J.P's section. That makes the experience complete. Pros: service, cool "old school" bar, won't leave hungry more

Great Restraunt 9/22/2002

I have eaten at Manny's many times, and I have never had a bad meal or poor service. The steaks are the best, but they also have seafood. Truly one of Minneapolis's best restrauants. more

Go BIG or Go Home! 9/20/2002

Everything here is huge including the portrait of Buster the Bull at the door with his unadorned testicles on display which sets the tone of the place. Power emanates from all the tables and the portions are huge. You would be an idiot to order anything but beef and vegetarians would probably be shot on sight. My favorite is the bone in ribeye done with char on the outside. . .it would perhaps be my last request if I were on death row. Bring some bucks or an expense account because nothing here is cheap but it is worth it if your palate favors great beef, red wine, and plenty of each! Pros: Best Beef in town, Nice wine list, Setting exudes power Cons: Tables are too close, Noise level is high, Setting exudes power more

carnivores say yummm... 9/5/2002

I don't think I will ever get enough of watching the male waiters slap huge chunks of beef. I wouldn't recommend getting multiple side dishes unless you are sharing with 4 people. more

Scrumptious and Delicious 9/4/2002

I won a certificate for $50 and had to spend another $80 or more but it was well worth every penny!!! I LOVED the steak and the rest of meal as well. It was real neat the way they bring the menu's raw meat selections - steak, lobster etc., and tell you about each cut, size, cost, etc., and let you choose which cut you want that way. Also you get a menu to decide from too. Steak was the BEST I've ever had in any restaurant in all my 45 years!! I can't wait to go back again. To the chef's at Manny's - keep up the great work - your food is #1! Margie Wiosky Pros: Excellent steak, good parking, great service Cons: expensive but worthit more

A little pricey 9/2/2002

No argument, the beef was excellent. The sides and the various other amenities could break you though. $68 for a $23 bottle of wine, come on! I guess we didn't have to order it. As far as the ambience, it was extremely loud and difficult to carry on a conversation with any degree of privacy. Pros: excellent beef, huge portions Cons: Loud, huge portions, expensive more

Awesome!!! 8/28/2002

No dress code. But you feel like you are in a ""tie only"" kind of place. Not stuffy, just world class. Pros: HUGE PORTIONS, Cooked to perfection more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/26/2002

Certainly not the best money I've spent. Could think of better places to go. more

SPOIL ME. 8/26/2002

This continues to be our favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities area. Sure, it's expensive. But we feel it's worth every cent. If I'm ever a homeless person I'm going to eat out of their dumpster. Pros: Food, Bathrooms, Service Cons: No windows, Male waiters, Expensive more

Very Spendy, but Very Nummy 8/15/2002

Whoa... it is expensive. I can honestly say, however, I have NEVER has such a wonderful steak. I also loved the waiter. There was four of us in our group. We each had a small steak and split a whole lobster. It was a very tasty meal and the entire wait staff we encountered was very funny and professional. I don't claim to be a steak expert but the steak I had was so far above and beyond anything I have ever had that it will certainly be hard to match. I would definately return. Pros: Food, Staff, Location Cons: loud more

What's the big deal 8/14/2002

I have heard so much about Manny's that I think that maybe I might have expected too much. If I was dressed better maybe the service would have been better. What a dissappointment. I usually stay close to home for dining and now I know why. I don't think it was worth the money and I don't think I deserved the attitude. more

steaktacular 8/13/2002

A wonderful place to not only be educated but entertained by your server! more

What a disappointment 8/12/2002

Standing outside Manny's you think you're in for the best of the best...sadly it was a real disappointment. All I could think of was how I could have spent the $250 someplace else. We ordered a giant lobster tail- chewy, steak-nothing to write home about, and the sides---come on-on par with hash browns from Denny's! Only thing that could have saved it was if the service was good-which it wasn't. Pros: location, landmark Cons: pricey, long wait more

A real boys' club 8/11/2002

Not a very comfortable place for women. I find it easier to conduct business at Ruth's Chris Steak House. The steak was pretty good but they charge prime prices for choice meat. I do like the parking and the Hyatt is a great hotel. The host wasn't very kind and the ambience felt like they were doing me a favor by waiting on me. more

Not Worth All Of The Fanfare 8/6/2002

Manny's is overpriced for the charred piece of meat that you receive. The wine list is pretentious, with only a few worthwhile, average priced offerings. I thought that one bad experience was only a fluke, but a second stop confirmed my suspicion that one would be much better off going to Jax Cafe, Erte, or Ruth's Chris. more

Carnivore's Haven 8/5/2002

We were wise and skipped the starter - still had much left over! Loved the show 'n' tell menu and exeptionally helpful wait staff. They were honest and correctly advised us that we had ordered too much! They know what rare is and would never ruin their perfect cuts of meat with overcooking unlike many other Twin Cities restaurants.... If you have any room, the desserts are to die for and I highly recommend the cheesecake...order it, take a bite and take it home! Pros: no waiting, perfect food, great service Cons: no parking, expensive, too much food! more

The Best 5/20/2002

Yes it is expensive but worth it. In comparison to other expensive restaurants the overall value is much better. You pay more money but you are getting a BIG meal versus the small portions at other up-scale restaurants. You definitely come home with leftovers. The steak is great but the fish is excellent as well so you don't need to be a steak lover to enjoy Manny's. I highly recommend it. more
