Editorial review from Citysearch 9/20/2012

Avoid like the plague! Worst customer service ever, good like getting anyone with any competence on the phone. Oh and when you pay off a car loan and pay $11 to do a western union transfer from a different bank to pay off the balance of your loan, in two weeks they will send you a letter saying you owe $.04 cents instead of your car title... Once again avoid like the plague! more

Can I give a negative review? Can we 6/7/2012

Can I give a negative review? Can we say -the highest number you can think of? I have been yelled at, accussed of stealing someone's identity (TO PAY OFF A LOAN!). When they finally accepted my last payment for my auto loan, I receive a letter in the mail saying I owed them ONE CENT! They actually paid postage to send me a statement for ONE PENNY! And the amount I paid for the final bill was the amount they gave me over the phone, I paid with a check by phone. It's not my fault they gave me the amount -.01. But I'm thinking, ok, one penny. I will call them. I get yelled at again because I'm apparently trying to steal my grandmother's idenity (it's in her name) because I'm trying to PAY IT. Seriously?! When was the last time someone stole your idenity and paid your bills off?! more

Bank fees are a poor tax 4/25/2012

I don't usually do this but had to go out of town and the trip cost more than I realized. I""m on unemployment and don't have any other funds. I had several very small amounts overdrawn that cost hundreds in bank fees. If you're not rich enough to cover the overdraft immediately, you get screwed. It only happens to poor people because if you could cover it, why wouldn't you? Am a single mom and don't know how I'll pay my rent, now. more

How do the keep thier license to operate 1/3/2012

I see I am not alone in my dealings with this banks customer service. Just trying to get my online banking unlocked has been a nightmare. Calling their customer service was a waste. When I ask to speak to a supervisor I was told he was a supervisor. Nice. This same bank lost a Power of Attorney twice that I had for my mother's affairs. Classic example of a small town bank over reaching. more

Horrible experience dealing with a car loan 12/23/2011

I have never written a review of a business, but Huntington Bank has been so horrible to deal with that I am hoping others will avoid this bank and their ""customer service"". I have been dealing with a totaled vehicle and insurance. Both insurance companies and the Gap companies have been wonderful, but even they are frustrated with the bank. The bank has not faxed information needed after several calls from me and State Farm. The employees are rude on the phone. If you have any choice, do not use this company. more

Worst Bank I ever saw...... 9/9/2011

I will never do business with Huntington Bank again....While trying to clear up a problem with them, I was passed along to numerous people during one phone call. Could never get any accurate information from them. One lady tried to tell me that I had a $2300.00 a month car payment.....What????? Ridiculous any body in their right mind would know you don't have a car payment that high......I left messages that were never returned. After two exhausting months of trying to clear up this problem I finally did it thank goodness.... will never deal with them againl more

car load rip off 5/3/2011

I have had a car load with Huntington National Bank since 08. Just got a letter April 30th telling me that they have been over charging me from the very begining. An \r audit found this error, really it only took 3 yrs.\r How many other people have they done this too? \r We bail out the banks and they rip us off.\r I'm calling the BBB! more

WORST BANK EVER, THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY 4/5/2011

IF I COULD RATE IT A ZERO I WOULD. I GOT A CAR LOAN FROM 2007, I MOVED TO PA AND NEEDED MY TITLE TO GET REGISTRATION/PLATES. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 1-2 WEEKS, TRY 4 WEEKS WITH ME CALLING2-3X PER WEEK. THEY SAY ITS BC THEY DO ELECTRONIC TITLES AND PA YOU NEED A PAPER ONE SENT. SO FINALLY IT IS OVERNIGHTED AND THEN I GET A LETTER STATING THEY ADDED A 45 DOLLAR CHARGE TO MY LOAN FOR ""PROCESSING"" MY TITLE. THEY FIRST SAY IT IS A PA STATE FEE-I PAID PA TO SWITCH MY TITLE. HER RESPONSE WAS ""oH YOU DID"" YES THAT IS PART OF MY REGISTRATION FEE (105.50) THEN THEY SAY ITS OHIO'S FEE FOR TITLE-YOU ACTUALLY PAY FOR THIS WHEN YOUR CAR IS PURCHASED. THEY JUST DONT WANT TO SAY ITS THEIR FEE FOR SENDING IT AFTER ""LOOKING"" FOR IT. THEN THEIR IS A 125 DOLLAR EARLY PAY OFF FEE TO BOOT. DO NOT EVER USE THEM, THEY DO NOT SEND YOU YOUR TITLE. YOU GET A LETTER STATING THE LEIN IS REMOVED ANDYOU PAY THE BMV TO GET IT. SUCH BS more

One of the worst banks in the US, avoid like the plague 3/25/2010

HNB has hands down the worst customer service. I wouldn't recommend using them for anything. High APRs, unwilling to negotiate, deceptive lending practices. READ THE FINE PRINT! As soon as my car loan is paid off in a few months (and by the way, they charge a fee for prepayment on all loans) I will NEVER use them again. Cons: Everything more

I Hate this BANK 1/8/2010

I have been with this bank for almost 20 years and have had 2 auto loans with them and they treated me like CRAP!! The so called customer service manager kept asking if I wanted her to ""explain me"" the bank policy. They have a scam of charging overdraft fees for pending transactions not POSTED transactions. They think they can make you sit on a wad of your own money to their benefit. But they charge you even if your account IS NEVER ACTUALLY OVERDRAWN!!!!! Needless to say, I am moving on. Please think twice about doing business with this BANK. They are condenscending and hostile to customers. Cons: No customer service, scam artists more

Go to a different Bank!!! 12/21/2009

I was with the bank for a month and a half. The only reason I went there when I moved back to Columbus was because my Mom recommended it (she has been with them for years) This was a HUGE mistake. 1) The personal banker failed to inform me of the $0.25 fee to use your debit card. I always use debit out of habit and security. I had 32 debits when they charged me for the first month and then had to call and ask what it is. They said it was Visa who [charges the fee. Load of crap I have had a visa debit card from Bank of America, Suntrust, and now Chase and not one of them charge me for it. 2) Customer service is awful, they were not even willing to deduct the charge for the debit card transactions that was not told to me when I plainly asked when opening my account, ""are there any fees associated with using the debit card?"" answer: ""NO"". 3) charged me a $23.00 overdraft fee even though there was a direct deposit frpm my employer in my account before the charge of $1.59 went in. They did not want to ]take the charge off. Instead they wanted to beat around the bush with a TON of EXCUSES. OVERALL BAD BANK!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I went to Chase and they were amazing, customer service was OUTSTANDING they went over everything with me and nothing was hidden, PLUS i got $100.00 for opening an account with them. Cons: EVERYTHING more

Huntington National Bank Insurance Scam 4/20/2009

I have a car loan with the bank. My car was parked in a garage while I was serving my country overseas. I had the car insured for fire and theft during that period. While overseas, the sent letters to my home requiring that I get full liability insurance on a car that was not driven. I did not receive these letters till 3 months later when I was back in the US. I immediately updated the insurance as per their requirements, again, despite the fact that I was stationed overseas and the car was in storage. The bank insisted on charging over $650 for the 3 months (when my current insurance rate is $50 per month) and they would not back down, even though I offered to pay back the whole loan. This is why this country hate bankers. Cons: Insensitive, fraudulant, and unfair practice more

Bank Partners with Insurance Giant to defraud its customers and split the profits 3/4/2009

This Bank is part of a 'scam fraud with AIG Insurance Company'. The bank sends its customers a \r ""FREE disability insurance policy letter"" underwritten by AIG Insurance Company. It then \r gives the Insurance Company the customers checking account number and routing number !\r \r ""Unauthorized"" so that the Insurance Company (AIG) has access to private checking accounts \r and can debit funds without the bank customer knowing about it. \r \r When customers dispute the ""Unauthorized Debits"" to their respective accounts, The bank claims\r the Insurance company was authorized. AIG agrees to cancel any policies, but keeps the money. \r \r The bank and the insurance company split the profits. \r \r AIG and Huntington scam in Thousands of Dollars !!! (even if the customers close out their accounts).\r \r Pretty Cool . Bank claims that they have to honor ""any and all debits applied to bank customers, \r but never mention that it is the bank that feeds their partners with the account numbers and \r routing numbers in the first place. \r \r They (AIG) debit in small amounts , so that many of the bank customers that don't check every entry on their monthly statements and don't notice the funds being removed. \r \r If a bank is that ""Unscrupulous"" what can they get away with that is harder to find ???\r \r \r \r Pros: Many Banks throughout the County Cons: Deceptive and Ilegal Practices more

Customer service lacking; punishes young clients with unbelievable banking charges 6/3/2008

I understand that banks are in business to make money, truly I do. But, charging a 19-year old ""new banker"" well over $1,000 in banking fees in less than a month [and growing], refusing to negotiate to help the young person understand how to better handle finances and how she got in that situation to begin with is counterproductive to teaching financial responsibility. She had over a year of good credit with the bank and simply fell in a bad spot, changed jobs, had unexpected car repairs, and a check cleared sooner than expected and now, WHAM, on top of the $37 per transition over for a bunch of very minor charges, and on top of that charging $7-$9 for every day that the account is overdrawn and refusing to stop the daily charges until paid in full takes advantage of people in poverty - or may even put them into poverty. I know this happens at other banks when someone makes a mistake, but by refusing to help a child in any way, ruining her credit in her youth, providing no way out is unfair punishment for a mistake/poor judgment. She had asked to apply for overdraft protection to prevent this, but was denied - because I am sure the bank makes more on these fees by punishment! Making barefly over minimum wage, how long do you think it will take to dig out of debt when they are taking on $7-$9 per day on top of the rest of the hundreds in banking fees when she has to put gas in her car to get to work to begin with. Their street-thug tactics of the customer service staff with their threats have left a very bitter taste in my mouth. For someone who is still young, still understanding the ramifications, it is simply horrible for them to treat people in this manner. I intend to withdraw every penny I have personally and from my business in this bank. By the way, I am not a person who pulls my kids out of trouble - but let them suffer consequences for choices made. But, there is a limit and I do have some compassion, unlike this bank. Pros: Relatively convenient Cons: Poor customer service practices; drives youth into poverty with unfair practices more
