Humble Pie (HP) leaves the most opinionated foodie…..humbled. This place has won my blue ribbon for favorite restaurant in Raleigh. I have visited HP twice now and both times ...

Worst

I enjoy TAPAS style restaurants but stay away from the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. Unless you like paying $9 for 3 small pieces of shrimp (and nothing else with it).\r \r The waiters ...

Awesome 7/18/2007

Humble Pie serves up tasty tapas. My girlfriends and I love to go there when they have the wine and tapas special. Try the tenderloin and the spinach tart. more

Great Birthday! 6/16/2007

When my girlfriend asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday, I said ""Humble Pie!"" This place is our favorite in downtown. The food is spectacular, especially the mahi mahi and the shrimp and grits. We have turned many of our friends on to the Humble Pie. The warehouse has character and the staff is attentive. Kudos! Pros: Fair wine prices, atmosphere more

The Great Outdoors! 3/27/2007

The Humble Pie has one of the best patios in the Triangle. I went Friday night with two friends and back there for brunch on Sunday. It was busy, but service was efficient. My spinach frittata and bloody mary were yummy! Pros: Patio, drinks more

We love it. 3/19/2007

This last review does not reflect the fine service and hospitality that my wife and I have received every time we set foot in Humble Pie. Both of the owners are always helpful and professional. We already knew one of them from one of our other favorite haunts. We took another couple with us last weekend. They are from Atlanta and said their meal and service were better than anything back home. Go for the martinis and the ""godzilla roll."" You will not go wrong. Pros: great drinks, service more

Service in the face of adversery... 3/15/2007

I went to Humble Pie for the first time tonight for a wine tasting. It was fun, the apps were good - especially this one that had cheese with melted honey around the plate. Unfortunately, when I went to put the wine rep's card in my purse I realized (to my horror) that a large amount of honey had been dribbled all over one end of it!!!! My purse ended up being ok, I think (this just happened about 20mins ago). Then the hostess of my party was gracious enough to approach the owner about giving me some kind of compensation, a free appetizer or en tree, something to that effect. When she returned to the table she said he was offended that she had asked and said I'd better not expect them to buy me a new purse. The waiter did come over with a brawny towel (too little too late) and offered to look up on-line a solution to this cleaning problem (which by then was under control no thanks to anyone other than the bartender - who at first referred me to the lady's room). Don't get me wrong, it was nice of my waiter to offer, but at no point did anyone say to me that they were sorry honey had been poured onto my (expensive) purse in their restaurant! And on my way out, when I tired to explain that a heart felt ""I'm so sorry"" goes a long way to the owner his first response was that he didn't know what happened, and then he thanked me for my input. Which left me with the impression of, ""Go way you fussy little woman and stop bothering me."" I have to say, the purse I can get over, but the fact that the owner himself made me feel insignificant and petty makes me never want to step foot in that place again. Pros: nice ambiance Cons: pretentious ""can do no wrong"" attitude from owner more

Best Bar! 1/4/2007

This is my favorite bar downtown. Martinis are delicious. Crowd is mixed and unobtrusive. I've had some food and it was tasty. Best bar! Pros: Good drinks, service more

Downtown treasure... 1/3/2007

My husband, another couple, and myself had a superb New Year's Eve dinner at Humble Pie. Service and food were excellent. We ate there about once a month last year and 2007 shouldn't be any different. Pros: Menu, atmosphere, service more

Give it a try... 12/13/2006

I eat at Humble Pie pretty frequently. It's not as great as some of it's competitors (Underground most notably) but it's still pretty good.\r \r The patio is great in the warm months. \r The bar is full of interesting types.\r The 'asian fusion' items are never fantastic, so pass on them. \r more

Great food, fun atmosphere 10/26/2006

Humble Pie is a great spot if you want a chilled-out experience. The food is very good (especially Sunday brunch, yum!) and the staff is very friendly. The bar usually attracts and eclectic crowd and they always play good music. more

better than ever 8/25/2006

i used to frequent humble pie before the new ownership. it was good, but erratic. the food could be incredible or awful. if you knew the wait staff, the service was great, yet i know a couple who had a cigarette butt flicked at them by a server who was offended by the small tip (rightfully) given to him.\r \r it couldn't be more different now. the staff and owners go to great lengths to ensure customer satisfaction and comfort--they're warm and friendly w/o being obsequious. the patio may very well be the nicest outdoor dining area in raleigh. the food is reasonably priced and consistantly very good.\r \r and most importantly, they don't mind that we bring our dogs!\r \r humble pie is a downtown gem.\r \r Pros: great patio, dog-friendly, terrific food and service. Cons: parking can be a little tricky on weekends. more

Great Party! 8/24/2006

I recently attended a dinner/birthday party at Humble Pie with 10 others and had a great time. The patio where we sat was very busy, but our server was on top of things. My meal was delicious. I highly recommend the godzilla roll and the mussels. The restaurant was busy, especially the bar which looked very inviting. Pros: peach martinis, patio dining more

Still best brunch... 8/22/2006

My husband and I have eaten brunch at Humble Pie 5-6 times and the food and service are always wonderful. Although it is often very busy on Sundays, the host and staff do a great job. We always go early to enjoy their homemade biscuits. Pros: service, food, atmosphere more

Ripped off and sweaty 8/19/2006

I actually like Humble Pie, but this Sunday was the worst. It was so hot. They were out of biscuits and potatoes (which happens) I realize however these come with the meal and no substitutions were offered. I am in the restaurant business and this would have never happened at my place of business. The attitude of the staff was extremely nonchalant about the fact that the restaurant was out of half their menu and then we saw the staff eating french fries as we were leaving. Why were we not offered an alternative to the above items? There are a lot of grocery stores in Raleigh, nobody could get some toast? Why were we charged for the items that normally come with our meals? It was a terrible disappointment and the Bloody Mary's are expensive and short.\r Cons: no carbohydrates offered with meal. more

Fantastic Food and Service 8/1/2006

Wow! What an unexpected surprise! My friend has eaten there often and raved about Humble Pie, now I know why. The food was delicious, a lot to choose from, and they accommodate certain dietary needs. We ate outside on the patio. Our server was extremely professional and so knowledgable. I have a diet challenge and she worked with me on what to choose and was very patient. The prices were reasonable and the drinks were wonderful! I would go back in a minute and I plan to go back often. I found the atmosphere outside to be very romatic, could use some more white lights on the trees and surroundings for that more romatic touch. The inside was ecclectic. A bit of a colder atmosphere though. Could use some warming up inside. Other than that, this place is one of the best I have been to. If you have not edperienced this tapas restaurant, you need to go, you won't be disappointed! more

they were rude! 7/31/2006

A group was there for someone's birthday, and a waiter broke a bottle of wine that we brought as a gift. They kept promising to replace it before the end of the evening, saying the owner would be over to ""make his promise good"". But he never came over and we finally asked for him before we left, and he acted very rude. The story was they would ""get the same bottle to her that week"". She has yet to receive her birthday gift(it's been over a month!) and we don't plan on going back to the restaurant!!!!! more

Second Time Out 5/16/2006

I ate here last night with some friends. It was my second time at Humble Pie in a week. The food is a great deal for the money. We had different waiters each time and they were both helpful with suggestions and service. We sat outdoors on the patio. Pros: service, patio more

great brunch 5/8/2006

had brunch, was really good, menu was small but lot of unique options, try something different. coffee is superb as well Pros: atmosphere, menu more

Wonderful 3/24/2006

Dinner here is great for those of us who don't eat dinosaur portions like the rest of the restaurants want to serve. Tapas to die for, in a decent price range. Wednesday nights offer a special-dinner for two and a bottle of wine for thirty bucks. The menu is great. Brunch is highly recommended, the drinks are really tasty and just what you need if you enjoyed Saturday night too much. The food's great too. The atmosphere is gorgeous, I wish this place was my apartment. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Dinner special, location, food more

Great night out!!! 2/9/2006

My husband and I recently went to a friend's birthday party at Humble Pie. It was our first time dining at this fantastic restaurant. Food and service are wonderful. The owners, or maybe they were the managers, stopped by our table more than once to check on us. We already have plans to go back next week. Prices are more than fair as well. Go to Humble Pie! Pros: value, atmosphere more

Good food, food service 1/27/2006

Although located on the less populated looking side of downtown Raleigh, ""Hpie"" serves up some very tasty food. I agree that the portion is really quite good for small plates. The staffs that worked there was friendly and attentive as well (we did dine early for a Friday evening, around 7:30-9:00). The decore of the place is OK, and lacked a bit in charm (we sat facing the kitchen, not the mostly romantic place), but I will go back for the food anytime. The Reisling I had with my dinner was too sweet, but it's only a personal preference, really. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Decore more
