I've been going here for a little more than 2 years and on top of really friendly staff with great service, they have amazing bagels. I've tried their bagel dogs, sandwiches, cook...

Good New York Style Bagel Joint 6/3/2008

I like this place. I was drawn in by the mural of happy bagel people on the wall outside. The inside is small but cute. It's a typical jewish New York bagel place. They have got all the basic jewish foods and oh are they good. I especially like the breakfast bage. My boyfriend always gets the cornbeef sandwhich, which is a good size! The people are nice there they seem understaffed though! Pros: bagels! Cons: slow more

Poor customer service detracts from a decent bagel 9/22/2007

House of Bagels think they make a New York style bagel-I do admit they make a better bagel then most in SF but New York it is not. The hamentashen are good but I would stay away from the knishes-they bear no resemblance to what a true deli style knish should taste like-the dough is wrong-it is thin and non-descript and the filings are bland. The other baked goods are overly sweet.\r The biggest issue I have with House of Bagels is service. I put in an order more than a week in advance for the Jewish High Holidays. I shop there since moving to SF as it is the best choice available in my neighborhood. When I arrived to pick up my order they stated that they did not have enough food to fill my order. I ask to speak to the owner who simply said they could not take care of all the orders placed. I told him that I could understand that and would have made other arrangements had they had the courtesy to call me and let me know. I had people coming in from out of town and it was already Saturday afternoon. He was far from apologetic and gave me the feeling that he could care less if I had food for my company or not. My grandparents had a bakery in New York City and would never have treated a customer this way. To the credit of the staff they did try to help but with an uncaring owner and poor management there is little they can do. more

Bagels heavenly 3/20/2007

I've been going here for a little more than 2 years and on top of really friendly staff with great service, they have amazing bagels. I've tried their bagel dogs, sandwiches, cookies and all have been deelish! Parking has never really been a problem for me but i guess it also depends on what time of day you go. Pros: bagels, staff, family friendly atmosphere more

House of Bagels on Geary Blvd is AWESOME!!! 4/7/2006

I hadn't been to House of Bagels in a couple of months, but was just stopping by to get my normal fix of their delicious bagels (you know, real NY bagels: First boiled and then baked--DELICIOUS!!!!). Well, to my surprise, in addition to these amazing bagels, and their amazing hamentashen and other cookies, they now have a full-on NEW YORK STYLE DELI, plus SEATING and the place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is super friendly and it was so nice to be there I stayed and got a sandwich, one of their espresso drinks and a bunch of stuff to go (including some of their retail Passover supplies-the best matzoh around). I can't wait to go back and bring friends!!! I even hear they will be getting high chairs and a changing table, too, for families with young ones. House of Bagels is a 10 out of 10!!! Pros: Best Bagels, NY Deli, Comfortable Seating Cons: Parking can be diffic more

AWSOME Sandwhich at the House of bagels!!! 1/30/2006

I've been to the House of Bagels for several years, knowing them to have the best bagels in the city. I was blown away by the Pastrami Reuben I had for lunch today. At first, 9 dollars for a sandwich seemed pricy (you can get a half for about 6 bucks), but when this mother load of steaming pastrami and house-baked corn rye came at me, I realized I was getting a steal. Delicious Boars Head brisket pastrami-- awesome!!! They also have a 12 ounces of meat version of each sandwhich (a bit ridiculous). The pickle was even awesome- imported from the east coast. I got an actual HALF-SOUR pickle!!! I've never even seen a real half-sour pickle in the bay area! I wasn't able to buy pickles to take home but the deli guy told me that they would be for sale soon. Pros: Real east coast fare, good deal, delicious more

Great Bagels, Great Deal 10/26/2005

For fresh baked bagels and breads in San Francisco go to the House of Bagels on Geary. I buy their bagels by the bakers dozen and I found their challah twists are great for making French toast for my kids. This place could use some seating so I could sit and eat my fresh bagel when I buy it. They are open early everyday. Pros: bagels, cookies, coffee Cons: hard to find parking more

Only place in SF to get a Real bagel 3/9/2005

This place actually makes and bakes real bagels, not the doughy steamed Noah's variety. We are talking crusty/chewey goodness in all the normal flavors (Sesame, poppy, onion) and some less traditional varieties (e.g. jalapeno). Also they have bialys, pletzels (called flats here), hamentoshen and black and whites- all made there. I can't say enough about this place! Pros: delicious, Cheap, authentic more

Good Bagels 2/26/2005

This is a good bagel place. They have other baked goods (cookies, breads, cheesecake). Ive only had the bagels though and the cookies, both were good. They also make special items for holidays (especially Jewish holidays). This is a good place to check out if your in the area. Pros: Bagels are good more
