This is by far the rudest, most incompetent and unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. We called to have our furnace fixed, we had a technician there that evening who was pleasant enough, did some work and charged us $125. A fair price to fix the problem, so I had no complaint. Until the next day, when we realized that not only was the original issue still occurring, but a new WORSE problem had begun. I called Hometown Heating to politely let them know that we were experiencing these problems, and would like someone to come back and take a look. I was told that we would see someone the following week, which was fine as we were not in an emergency. However, two days later I received a very rude voicemail asking me to call immediately. I did, and was greeted by the message ""if you want us to come back there, you're going to have to pay us again"". I stated I didn't feel it was fair to charge the service fee again, and was told I'd be hearing from the supervisor. Two days later again, I received another voicemail, worse than the first, stating ""if you want us to come there and pay us, call us back. Otherwise don't call."" Well I certainly will pay someone to fix my furnace, but it will NOT be Hometown Heating. They will never see another cent from me, and I hope I can let as many people as possible know to avoid this company so they don't get cheated like I did.\r more

Hometown has serviced the boiler in our house for the past 6 years. We purchased the house in November 2012. Before purchasing, the boiler sounded odd and we asked the previous owners to have it fixed. They called the company and Hometown serviced it and said it was fine and repaired a flue pipe based on a home inspection recommendation. It is now June and the flue pipe has come undone and was venting exhaust into our basement. We called a different company to look at it and they found that the motor hadn't been oiled in years, the combustion chamber had a hole in it, and the main chamber was heavily corroded. I tried to call Hometown and the person who answered the phone said that the inspector should have been more thorough, that it wasn't their fault, and then hung up on me. I am shocked by the horrendous way they ""serviced"" the boiler and the way I was treated on the phone. They may have only had a contract with the previous owners, but it is clear that they have done a terrible job and need to be reported. We have an 8 month old baby who could have been harmed by the exhaust fumes and now will be out $4000-$5000 for a new boiler because of their negligence. This is terrible. more

Oh my goodness. I have never had such bad service by a heating company. I woke up with no heat one morning and called Hometown because they were able to get to my house the quickest. My husband had mentioned that perhaps we lost power during the middle of the night and he (my husband) wondered if this was the problem. Our technician was nice... but very rushed and took my husband's diagnosis too much to heart. The technician pushed the button on our boiler system and left within minutes, charging us 100 dollars. We though, oh, bad luck on our part. Wish we had known it was so simple but we weren't upset. Well, an hour later our heat was off again. We called Hometown and they got to us for the second time in one day. This time the technician 1. blamed our usual heating company for not doing a thorough cleaning and 2. partially diagnosed the problem. Turns out that the problem was much more technical than a simple push of the button. The technician then charged us another 100 dollars and said he had to get home for dinner. We had no idea when he would be able to come back to finish the repair and again we were without heat after an hour of the technician leaving. So we paid 200 dollars for nothing! \r \r Well, we called our old heating company who came over bright and early the next day, diagnosed the complete problem, drove to pick up the replacement parts and had our heat working within a few hours. Professional!\r \r When we called Hometown to complain about paying 200 dollars for nothing we were met with rudeness and avoidance. We still have not received a single dollar back from Hometown and I am not holding out hope. So let this serve as a warning to you. Do not use this company!!! more
