Bad customer service 11/11/2015

I ordered a lot of furniture and still have no couch etc to sit on. Sales representative kept telling me she would call me and never would. Had I known the sectional was back ordered I would have cancelled the order. Finally called manager and he was condescending and told me the sales rep had left me two messages. She DID not but he more or less called me a liar. Last time I will purchase from this store. more

Unethical!!! Do not buy mattresses here! 8/12/2014

Word to the wise, do NOT under any circumstances let yourself be sucked into buying a mattress here! Their policies are not honored & sales staff are crooks! Went in to look at a mattress, picked one out. Found it online at Sears cheaper and before I finalized the order, I requested the price match. At the time I picked out the mattress, the sales clerk raved about how that particular series also came with their special pillows. Once I got the price match, $225 cheaper, they removed the pillows from my order telling me "if we do a price match, we're not going to give you pillows". What?? It was still a $1,200 order. I asked for a manager, was disconnected, put on hold for almost 1/2 hour & when I finally spoke to the manager, said nope, we don't honor that or make exceptions. I still allowed the delivery to be scheduled and called corporate to report the bad service. Corporate never returned the call. I went online and read their policy - not only do they price match but give back an additional 10% of the difference....they never did this. When I questioned that, they claimed they did. I said no, I have the Sears printout and you didn't. Once again, they refused to honor their own written policy. The corporate customer service people didn't even KNOW they had the extra 10% policy. I told them they could cancel my order, I would purchase elsewhere. They didn't care. When I got home, I found a message from the salesman saying since it wasn't the exact item, he was cancelling my order. What?? I still have the printout showing it was the exact same mattress & boxspring for $300 less but he told corporate that it wasn't??? If you call corporate, all you get is a run around about the manager being busy (and the name changes). They never call back & falsely advertise mattresses priced at $899 having free setup & delivery -- in fact you must make a purchase over $1,000. They advertise 120 day trial & return, however, they charge you $80 for a mattress protector. Badmouthed Sears & other stores. Crooks! more

Liers and cutthroat 2/24/2014

We went in to look at a rocker recliner. The guy said how they look around at other prices to give us the lowest price out there. They are so confident about their prices and they are the lowest. I saw a sign about price match and beating a price you MIGHT find lower. First chair we really looked at they were higher than Ashley Furniture by $30. He said they can match it and beat it by $3. REALLY!!!! You pride and brag about being the lowest and you are beat on the first chair and you will go $3 lower.......sorry, I will reward the store with the better price first. more

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HOM FURNITURE! 5/25/2013

We just bought a new house and have very little furniture so we went to Hom and purchased a dining room table. We knew that furniture can take some time to be shipped in if it isn't in stock so we were shopping several months before moving. We purchased the table and it was supposed to come in about the time we needed it. Several weeks later we get a call saying it had come in early, but they had said all along that it was no problem to hold the table until we moved. Several weeks after that we get a call that says they sold our table to someone else and it would be another 2 months after the original estimated date. Really? They just go and sell other people's furniture that has already been purchased. We talked to so many customer service people and none of them were very helpful. We finally talked to the store manager and said they could give us a floor model as a loaner until our new one comes in, but they didn't even offer to deliver it or deliver the new one. Their customer service was terrible through the whole experience and that is just the worst business practice to go and sell furniture that has already been sold. It's really terrible as a business to go and do stuff like that when we have a whole house to furnish. Never ever will I purchase anything from this store. more

bad as they get 2/18/2013

they only have a 7 day retern. they dont care about you at all. I was sick when it came. (with the flue) so reterning it was the last thing on my mined. when i got over it 2 weeks later i wonted to return it and they said no way sent out a tech and still did not like it. so they wonted to charg me 30 % to restock it. what hapend to 30 day retun.you dont see it posted at the store. come on. more

DO NOT BUY FROM HOM! 5/4/2011

Hom is an unscrupulous company to purchase from. I made the mistake of purchasing from them on two separate occasions. Both purchases had issues with in the first 3 months of ownership. Of course most when you attempt to exchange or return an item you are told that it’s a clearance item and they no longer have it, but you can replace it but then if you purchased an extended warranty it becomes void and you lose that money. There are several other, professional, furniture companies that treat their customers far better, do not waste your time and money with Hom. more

Futon Frame Completely Cracked in 45 Days 2/10/2011

Hom Furniture Canterbury Futon Frame completely cracked all the way through after 45 days of usage. Hom Furniture will NOT replace on the warranty, so have been waiting another 39 days so far for replacement parts for which the delivery date keeps getting pushed back. If you buy a Futon from Hom Furniture, I suggest that you prop the middle point of the frame with a box of laser printer paper or some other object as it is NOT designed for structural support. more

CUSTOMER SERVICE 12/10/2010

Good: The store manager was pleasant.. Bad: We paid $1000.00+ 4 years ago for a movie theater seating group. within 2 years 1 button for lifting feet broke off - they replaced that section. Now a second section had the same problem and they will not stand behind the product. We would have to pay for service or even just a tech to look at the problem.. Improvements: If there is an existing problem, stand behind your product. We would have replaced with a new unit from Hom if any offer had been made when we went to the store. 2 weeks later we were not interested in doing business with Hom any more.. Other: The bottom line is that the only thing any business has is their reputation for customer service. Excellent customer service should be the most important product they provide. We won't return to Hom.. more

Purchased from Hom when they first opened in Eau Claire...at that time great service in store and in my home for repairs I needed...Now I purchased a sofa about 3 months ago for around $1000 and it is falling apart!!! Broken when they delivered it to me! Found out that they don't even look at it locally anymore before they deliver it...called for repair and was told " Our service person in your area quit and the other one was laid off. We can't help you until we hire someone." That was 65 days ago...better off to purchase from someone local that supports local jobs..apparently the jobs that used to be here are now in the Twin Cities..glad we can support Minnesota..will never buy here again more

Hom... very nice 8/5/2005

I live right by a HOM furniture, and it's very nice. Good quiality furniture for a very affordable price. I like how they give out free cookies and pop. The clearance area is very nice, because usually the furniture isn't damaged that much, maybe a door on a hutch doesn't sit right, and its dicounted by a lot. I like how everything is in different catagories, like Country HOM, Modern HOM, and everything in between. I would reccomend going to HOM furniture rather than any expensive places. more

Great place for furniture in Twin Cities 8/1/2005

If youre an average person and do not want to pay for the furniture at places like Room & Board, then HOM Furniture will work out great. They have multiple locations throughout the Metro area, its usually best to try to shop around at 2-3 of their locations and see if theres a difference in their selections. The store down in Lakeville is one of their larger showrooms, but you should be able to find all of their items at most locations. Love their product selection. Usually have a wide variety of bedroom, living room, kitchen furniture. All of their furniture is well made. Their sales people are great also. Never felt pressured or had any sales person breathing down my neck at HOM. Youre free to walk around and browse without someone following you around. There is a fee for deliveries, but it is small and worth it if you dont have access to a truck to pick up the furniture yourself. They also have a play area for children, and a small seating area with free coffee and cookies. Nice for taking a break from shopping and giving the kids a treat. Pros: Selection, no pressure sales staff. more
