I just want to say a big Thank You to Scott ""T"" for helping me with my purchases over the past several days. I came in Saturday and found him to be upmost helpful and honest with his opinion with my firearm purchase. I wanted to buy something else, but ran short on time. I waited to come back until today and specifically asked for his help when I walked in. I appreciated his knowledge/expertise and just knew he would not steer me in the wrong direction. For my money, Hoffman's prices and service can't be beat. If you ever really have a problem with the staff, I suggest you go to the front counter and ask for Scott (the owner). more

Very Good Place 6/3/2011

After reading all of the negative comments I was to say the least, surprized. Of course, having dealt with Forest and Field in Norwalk any place is better. My experience with Hoffman's is the opposite in almost every way to the other posters. I have purchased a dozen or so guns from them both new and used. I have always found the staff to be helpful and knowledgable. I especially like Hoffman's ten bullets for ten bucks policy that has enabled me to test fire guns before I purchase, or in some cases didn't. more

The only issue is...they get crowded and busy especially on Saturdays, resuting in some long waits at the counter. If that's your hangup, I suggest going on a weekday or early Sunday morning. more

Large, varied selection. Prices are not typically competitive, (especially compared to Internet vendors), unless you catch them during a big sale. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. more

Big fan of Hoffman's 4/22/2011

I have purchased several weapons there and think they offer fair pricing. The staff is not the most customer oriented or sales savy but they mostly know what they are talking about, and are always willing to help if you have questions. The range is very good and modern. You can generally get a lane with no problem, except on weekends, and is very safety oriented. Selection of rental weapons is also wide. The selection of weapons is very good and that includes used guns. They have a have a good special if you want to try out a weapon prior to purchase. I think this is one of the best ,if not the bes,t gun shop in the area. Did I also mention that their NRA certification course for a pistol carry permit is very good , with classes just for women. I continue to be a big fan of Hoffman's and will continue to make my future gun and ammo purchases there. more

I've bought several pistols from Hoffman's over the last several years. I've found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. And while the prices aren't cheap, they are competitive. You can always find things cheaper online, but it's just not the same and you're always taking somewhat of a chance. more

Many items to choose from 4/15/2011

I have been shopping at Hoffman's for about 2 1/2 years now and have bought approximately 19 handguns and rifles from them. Both used and new. I have never gotten a bad deal on either. The used guns have a 30 day warranty which I never had to take advantage of. Their prices may be a little higher than some internet outlets, but you don't have to pay shipping or transfer fees, and I like to look and touch items before I buy. They have always beaten the other local retail outlets in both price and quality. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. Huge selection of both new and used firearms. And they have a brand new state of the art indoor gun range in the store. Check them out! more

Superb Customer Service 4/11/2011

Hoffman's is in a new location since I last visited them, perhaps this is telling on how infrequently I actually shop here (more of my husbands thing). At any rate, customer service was wonderful and very friendly. I purchased some range time for hubby, $25/hour seems very fair to me. They were also very kind to my 3 children, who were gawking at the taxidermy heads all over the store. We got a lot of kind smiles and ""Hello there!"" from the staff. more

Huge selection and competitive prices 4/6/2011

I went to check out the store, having heard about them from friends. They have a huge selection, prices are more competitive than any of the other stores in CT, and the staff was quite friendly. They have a clean store, an indoor range and a huge selection of rental guns so you can try before you buy. I brought my brother up there, he bought a gun at a great price, so I went back up and bought from them. I'll surely be returning for other weapon purchases. more

Went today for the first time. First time at any range for my wife and I. Being noobs we were a bit intimidated at first. We explained this to the person at the range counter and was delighted to find him helpful and knowledgeable. He suggested some pistols to try and explained the function of each without a hint of hesitation or grief. The 10 for $10 deal is fantastic for someone like us who weren't sure of which gun to buy. The range safety officer was helpful and kind as well. Just great people who know how to treat customers. As far as the prices, they seem to be on par with any of the other offline stores we've looked at. more
