I'm new to Pittsburgh and Hepatica was recommended to me by a cousin who used to live here; his friend used to work at Hepatica. I set up an appointment with Jerry and knew right away I had come to the right place! He was a pleasure to work with and helped me fulfill the vision I had. At the appointment he pulled some flowers that he had on hand and made a ""mock-up"" of my bouquet. I actually had more fun collaborating with Jerry on the bouquet than I did picking out a wedding dress! For my May wedding I wanted flowers like sweet pea, peony, lavender, thistle, and ranunculus, and I was lucky that all of those flowers were in season. Jerry used a gorgeous star-shaped thistle and sprigs of lavender in the bouquet which I loved. I sent him the hem of my wedding dress after I had it altered (it was chiffon) and he was able to use part of it to wrap around the end of the bouquet and he secured it in place with pearl stick-pins and gold wire: stunning! In order to avoid delivery fees I picked up the bouquet myself and kept it in my fridge overnight; Jerry gave explicit instructions on how to keep the bouquets fresh overnight. His suggestions worked and the flowers remained beautiful for the entirety of my wedding day. I could not be happier with the whole Hepatica experience and would recommend them to anyone looking for breathtaking flowers and exceptional service! more

I selected Hepatica (specifically, Rachel at Hepatica) for my wedding reception after someone in my mother's law office received an amazing floral arrangement delivery. I had met with and received a quote from a different florist for the wedding, but really didn't feel great about it-- I didn't think he really ""got"" me, and understood the look and feel I was going for. So I called Hepatica, and after they determined that they were available for my date, I met with Rachel. I didn't have exact pictures, just a few that were ""kind of"" like what I wanted. She asked me all the right questions, and completely got inside my head. I felt confident that she knew exactly what I wanted and could make it happen without hesitation. What I ended up with was a very natural, ""tuscan-feel"" wedding, full of ivory, leaves and branches, moss, and countless candles in glass. It was simply amazing. One word of advice... she is not the greatest at returning calls/emails- but don't fear... she has it under control! :) I highly recommend her for any event- especially a wedding. I remember that I didn't see many reviews for Hepatica about weddings... mostly just her exquisite (and yes, they are) floral arrangements. I was worried about that- but there was no need. Hepatica did an awesome job and made my wedding unforgettable. more

I had the pleasure of dealing with Hepatica for the first time yesterday. After calling my regular florist, who may now be my former florist I called another local florist who was not able to help with a rush delivery but was kind enough to refer me to HEPATICA. I am always leary of picking a rabbit out of a hat so this referral was greatly appreciated. Upon calling Hepatica I was so relieved. Dealing with Mary was a pleasure, she understood my situation and was very professional and compassionate. The I received wonderful service and the arrangement I requested was amazing. Considering I was a first time customer and called at the eleventh hour, Hepatica far surpassed my expectations. Thank you Hepatica for the exceptional service and gorgeous arrangement. more

My experience of Hepatica Florist on Braddock Ave 15218 over the last few years is consistent creativity and beauty of the foral products they produce. What brings me to write this in this 2010's Christmas floral arrangement that they have just delivered. It's composition is amazing, I could not have asked for anything more appropriate in response to what I asked for. Thank you Hepatica and particularly for its management and the talent of its skilful and artistic personnel that was demonstrated in the arrangement I received. more

My daughter is a designer who lives out of town, works very long hours and needed to plan her wedding from afar. We worked with Jerry and he was wonderful. The flowers were exceptional. Jerry and my daughter connected on a ""designer to designer"" level and he met her every need. I think the flowers really made the ceremony and the reception. It has been almost 20 years since I left Pittsburgh but when I want to send flowers or an arrangement to somone at home, I always call Hepatica. I received a gorgeous flower arrangement from Hepatica upon moving to a new home. The selection of unique flowers and lovely design was like none I had ever seen, and it was breathtaking. Like a painting you love, the flowers were something you wanted to look at and enjoy again and again. Moreover, the flowers lasted on and on, allowing us to really enjoy the arrangement for longer than usual. Like most other people, I am extremely busy and do not have any time to rate products and services. In this single case, however, Hepatica stands out as a one-in-a-million business with that ""something special"" that we all look for but almost never find. I have absolutely no doubt that whoever receives one of their unique and beautiful arrangements will feel very special. more

Best flowers and service in Pittsburgh ~ this is not a ""flower shop"", they are floral designers. Artists. Called in a panic for a funeral spray from NYC, asking for something very specific, and they did exactly what I wanted over the phone. Just beautiful. Simple and touching, with just the details I had asked for. Delivered to the funeral home here in Pittsburgh on time (actually early) so I could see them before the service. I spoke with Jerry, who was just lovely and understanding considering the situation I was in calling from another state. They provided a very touching tribute for my beloved uncle at his burial service, and I couldn't have been more pleased. No ""filler"" flowers, either. Only the best from the best. Cannot recommend them enough, and so close, just in the heart of Regent Square. My thanks to all at Hepatica for their warmth and understanding, and the amazing arrangement at my most difficult time. more

I have been receiving a fresh flower arrangement once a week from Hepatica for several years. I am amazed at each and every one- they all are unique, creative, in a word, fabulous. EVERYONE comments on them. Each of the over 100 arrangements has been unique, with amazing flower, long lasting orchids, an artichoke or two--- you would not believe how they come up with a wonderful new design each time. I give their flowers as gifts regularly, and they are always stunning. more

Hepatica did my flowers for my wedding a number of years ago. They were beautiful &extremely creative and I got a ton of compliments on them. Rachel the owner was exceptionally nice to me even though I did tend to micromanage. From then on, we used them for Christmas decorations, parties, arrangements, gifts, etc. Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, we would always bring our young son in and he would help decide on the color scheme and motif of our Christmas wreath for the entrance. The designers and sales people were extremely polite and accomodating to our finicky child (contrary to my experience with a number of retailers). I am trying to plan a wedding from out of town. I had had several great reviews from people about Hepatica, but was sorely disappointed when I contacted them. Since I am from out of town, I had sent pictures of what I was interested in and was asking them for quotes on pricing. They were extremely rude and thought that I was uninterested in truly planning for my own wedding. How appalling and presumptuous that is. I cannot afford to fly in every weekend to pick everything. I have done my legwork and have not had such poor customer service from any of the other vendors that I have contracted for services for my wedding. I come from a retail environment and would never dream of treating anyone the way I was treated. It does not matter if you have a superior product if you have inadequate and snooty customer service. more

Hepatica did the flowers for my wedding. They did an outstanding job. The flowers made such a statement in a huge reception area. The flowers were one of my favorite parts of my wedding. When I was planning my wedding, I had several meetings at Hepatica and they were always creating very unique and fabulous centerpieces and bouqets. They are great to work with. They will keep a file of your likes and dislikes so each time you need flowers they will arrange them according to your specifications. more

When my daughter died, only seven and a half months old, I was devastated. We were fortunate to receive more flowers than we knew what to do with. I can honestly say that with the deluge we received, the flowers from Hepatica and one other florist are the only ones that stood out as meaningful and lovely. more
