My dog was diagnosed with allergies, but the problem was rancid food. They tried to give me prescription food at a huge expense as a remedy. His coat was horrible. I tried good...

AWESOME!!!! 7/22/2011

Dr. Guidry was great to both of my dogs and cat. I've been going to them for a couple of years now and I have to say the new management and team they have in place is much better then before. I will keep on taking my pets there.\r \r more

Simply the BEST! 6/2/2011

My previous experience with VCA was very negative. Therefore, when my cat had some problem again, I looked for another local clinic. Upon reading some good reviews, I decided to visit Helping Hands. What a difference! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and gave me a good first impression. Then, Dr. Guidry came and greet us. Both my cat and I adored her immediately. She is very professional and kind, and tried to explained everything in plain words, and gave us options. Most importantly, this clinic NEVER urged or solicited any services that I (and my cat) didn't feel comfortable about. After all, not all of us have a lot of extra money to do extensive healthcare for pets (I don't even see doctors myself!). I am very pleased and lucky to find a wonderful local clinic that still practice kindness and honesty, rather than becoming a sales-oriented business! Highly recommended! more

Best Vets I've ever dealth with 9/12/2010

Dr. G (as he is called at the clinic) has cared for both of my dogs since I got them. His prices are lower and his services better than any of the animal clinics I've tried. This past year, my dog Roscoe developed cancer in his jaw. Dr. G was incredibly supportive, discussed all our treatment options with us at great length, and helped us make the best decisions we could. He and his staff were always available, always concerned, and seemed almost as devoted to Roscoe as we were. Under his care, Roscoe lived twice as long as his predicted survival time had he undergone chemotherapy. Dr. G provided us with all options, from traditional medicines to alternative and homeopathic treatments. In the end, the Doctor came to our home and performed Roscoe's euthanasia here, so that he did not have to die in a clinic. I am tremendously grateful to Dr. G and the entire clinic staff for making Roscoe's last six months as good as they could possibly be. I will continue to take my animals to Helping Hands, even though I now live in West Seattle and it is quite a drive. They are worth the extra effort more

Terrible records retention 5/14/2010

We loved the Vets at the office but the receptionists have misplaced or lost our dogs records on more than 1 occasion. The first time they informed us our dog needed 2 shots so we brought him in and when we got there they found the record that indicated the shots had already been received. The second time I took our dogs in for their annual check up and while I was there they told me I needed to pay for my dogs nails being trimmed in the previous month, before they would provide any services. My husband and I trim our own dogs nails and have never taken them in. The receptionist actually argued with me about it dog coming in for his nails to be trimmed. The date she gave was 2 days after I had just delivered our new baby... My husband and I had come home from the hospital with an infant on the day we supposedly took our dog in... The most recent mistake, we are being told we haven't taken my one of our dogs in in 2 years. She was spayed a year ago at that office and I was in the room the week before she was spayed when she received all her shots. They're saying she never received any shots at that time. We are currently searching for a new Veterinary office because of the receptionists mistakes. It does no good to have a great Vet if your records are continuously mixed up and lost. Cons: lost our dogs records on more than 1 occasion more

Very Satisfied Customers 12/8/2008

Every time I have taken my dogs to Helping Hands whether it be for regular check ?ups or for something more serious, we have been met with kindness, genuine caring and the knowledge of experienced vets and clinicians. I am so very fortunate to live just a few minutes from a veterinary clinic, which has won awards for it?s excellence, and lives up to this excellence day in and day out. My two Havenese puppies and I are very satisfied customers.\r \r Pros: They make me feel very comfortable Cons: Waiting room can get full because it is a walk in clinic more

Rude Surgical attendant and nurse. 11/17/2008

I only have been to this clinic once before and that was just to get my dog his pre-neuter check up. My pre-neuter exam was very uncomfortable. The nurse never introduced herself and kept saying ""Oh! She's so sweet!"". Maybe it was just because it was late in the evening that she had gotten things mixed up but the fact that she kept going on and on about how cute ""she"" was irritated me. As well as when I would ask questions she would act stumped and run around my question like it didn't matter. After that, I was so relieved to go home and be done with her. But to my dismay SHE was the one giving me my dog after the surgery as well. Again, she wasn't very informative and continued to call HIM a ""SHE"".... She was fairly small-framed and had medium length brown hair. WHATEVER YOU DO TRY TO AVOID HER IF YOU GO TO HELPING HANDS! That will save you a LOT of irritation, trust me. \r \r Also, when I dropped my dog off in the morning of his nueter, I had a blond sergical attendant that was unnaturally rude. I just brushed it off for the most part until she walked out of the room while i was asking a question. I'm absolutely thrilled to have Dr. G as my doctor so I still went through with the surgery. But if it wasn't for him, I most likely wouldn't go back to helping hands again. Hopefully those two girls will learn how to act and treat clients. Pros: Great Doctors! Some staff are very nice and knowledgable. Great setting. Cons: A few VERY RUDE staff people. Waiting area ALWAYS FULL. more

Overall Great Care 10/31/2008

I have been taking my dog, Gypsy, to Helping Hands for 8 years now. I am there a lot as I have an older dog with lot of back problems and she gets regular acupuncture and chiropractic care. I always got A-1 care there. But I have to agree with the previous review. For the last 4/5 months I did not like the new receptionists. I just talked to their manager the last time I was there about the same thing. She told me they just revamped their reception structure and hired completely new stuff. I will still recommend this place whole-heartedly because of the great care I always get when I am there. Pros: Good with listening, nice , helpful staff Cons: sometimes a wait because it is a walk-in clinic, just bring a book, it's worth the wait more

Good Vet, Poor Front Desk 10/10/2008

I took my new kitten here to get neutered and in retrospect am very satisfied with how the procedure went. He recovered quickly without pain or irritation. However , I wanted to comment that the front desk staff was useless. It seemed like there were always 4 or 5 behind the desk 3 of which were talking about their personal lives or otherwise ignoring customers. The girls were all plenty nice, but most of them seemed mostly incompetent. We were told dropping him off would take 15 minutes and we ended up being there for 45 minutes (on a Saturday morning at 8:30 am!), and only then could we leave because we mentioned how we had to go open our family business. When I went to pick him up it was the same thing. The girls at the front desk struggled to calculate my total and I stood there for 15 minutes while they redid and redid their calculations; I was worried I would be incorrectly charged. Then, when I was being debriefed on the neuter and post-op directions the girl kept calling my cat ""she"" and saying how ""she"" had been spayed. Finally, I blurted, ""it's a male"". I just think when it comes to your pet, it's all about personal attention and when they can't even get the gender correct, I mean come on. My recommendation: Go there for good care, but bring a long book and a whole lot of patience. Pros: good vet Cons: unprofessional staff more

Great Staff Great Doctors! 9/30/2008

Friendly, concerned staff. The vet assistants always treat my dogs like movie stars, which my dogs love. I always get my questions answered by the vets. Dr. G is unpretentious, down to earth and has a great sense of humor. I like that it?s drop in but would like more appointment time. Maybe if they offered ? drop in and ? appointments. I appreciate the lower cost yet the clinic feels high end. Kerry Parsinen more

Caring, affordable, holistic 7/5/2008

I have had a wonderful experience at Helping Hands. After taking my dog to two different Vets? for the same problem only to get a ""quick fix"" and a big bill I decided to try HH. Dr. G is wonderful. Not only did he help my dog but I learned more in one visit than I did at any other vet I've ever been to. I feel very confident with their knowledge. Their entire staff is very knowledgeable and caring, I am very pleased. \r I am also very happy that they are a walk-in clinic. I can make my visits around my schedule which is very nice (they also take after hours appointments too, which is great).\r Pros: staff, cost, care, compassion, availability Cons: I really can't think of any more

By far the BEST place to take your pet! 1/22/2008

By far the BEST place to take your pet! No place compares to the quality service and the price! Dr G. and the staff at Helping Hands are unbelievable! The quality of the care they give your animal is amazing and there is NO other place that even compares. The staff is so friendly and my beagle Sunshine loves to go there to visit. Sometimes we just stop by to get her nails trimmed, other times its for her shots, or possibly an injury. Either way HELPING HANDS is the place to go! The care that they take of your animal is unbelievable! The quality is very high while they keep the costs low. The best thing is you don't have to make an appointment, you just show up with your animal. They also have evening hours by appointment if you need that. more

Everyone there is so wonderful and caring to the animals and to me. They really know there stuff. Helping hands is not just wonderful to the animals but also to my checkbook. The prices there can't be beat. I have been to many vets in my life and have never been treated as good and with so much respect as I have with them and especially with Dr. G a truly caring and wonderful Doctor. I recommend this clinic to everyone I come in contact with regarding pets and pet care. As long as they are around Helping Hands is the ONLY place I will ever take my animal.
