Very insensitive 2/25/2014

I have an elderly dog that has been in my life for over 12 years. You can imagine the bond between man and his best friend. Unfortunately, someone needs to remind the staff at Healthy Pets of Wedgewood that same lesson.\r \r Do not take your pet to this animal hospital. Dr. Chip was rude and completely disregarded many of my concerns for my dog. I felt that they could've done a better job at comforting him during his last days. Instead they treated him like he was just another piece of luggage. It was heartbreaking to watch my dog come under the care of such arrogant vets. \r \r I have since taken my dog and my business elsewhere. Save your time and your energy and do your research on animal hospitals that aren't planning to drain your wallet and animal hospitals that actually care about your concerns and your pet's health.\r \r more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/31/2012

DR Chip: Rather than explain good deeds (like any vet should do) explain why your prices are way more than the average Vet, and why a pill (1 pill mind you) was 600 percent over online. Explain why what should have been a courtesy free ear cleaning cost me 35 dollars. Your vet is a rip off. Better yet, try addressing your 59 percent satisfaction rate on here. That alone should tell you theres a problem. Guess not. more

Always been great 4/21/2012

Got my dog two years ago. We drive from Delaware to see them. All doctors are nice but we LOVE Dr Bishop. Everytime I bring my dog in, they are very sweet to my young girls, even letting them listen to my dog's heartbeat. I am able to take all the time I need asking questions and talking about my concerns without feeling rushed. They are good about price matching, getting you a discount or a generic medication. I feel they go above and beyond what is expected from a vet, even late on a Friday when my dog was throwing up. My husband and I will be going to them for years to come. Nothing is too good for our ""baby."" more

Healty Pets of Wedgewood- Good Experience 9/10/2011

I went on Friday at about 6, and arrived early, and they took me early. I had just a minor problem with my cat, and I saw Dr. Elizabeth Mahle. She was awesome, answered all my questions, and really took an interest. I can tell she has cats. The tech was very gentle with my cat who was a little freaked out as she had not been to a vet in a while, and they were very patient. They spent a lot of time with me even though it was late on a Friday, and I felt I got lots of good advice for caring for my cats. Very good experience, and will definitely be back. Really liked this vet a lot. I also felt the charges were very reasonable. more

Vet is EXPENSIVE and boarding/kennels = awful 7/11/2011

We like the Dr's in the practice. They are professional and loving to the animals. However, the prices they charge are over the top. We purchased a puppy at Petland and used HPWW for the initial exam and then used our family vet for subsequent visits. We had an awful experience with the kennel side of HPWW. We recently had to board our puppy and chose HPWW since it was close to home and we like the place. Our puppy was there for 3 days and when we picked him up, he was so dirty he looked wet. Upon further smell and exam, we discovered it was urine. He must have laid in his urine the entire time. My take, if your visit is free with a Petland pet, go for it. If it's going to be out of your own pocket, go to Oakcreek Vet in Westerville on Schrock Rd. Vaccinations are very low priced at the Vaccination clinic on Sawbury Blvd. SHOP AROUND!! DO NOT USE THEIR KENNELS!! more

Very sensative and professional 6/15/2011

Our Golden Retriever has been going to Dr. Chip for years and Dr. Chip saved his life just a few weeks ago. On the Friday before the Memorial weekend our 9 year old golden vomited after eating his breakfast. Since he was sick the night before, I thought I would just pop in to see if Dr. Chip could take a quick look at him to make sure he was ok. more

Always Positive 2/9/2011

I have never had a negative interactions with the staff or the doctors at Healthy Pets. They have always been very nice when I've brought both my dogs in for sick or well appointments. I just wanted to let everyone know that i don't hesitate for a second recommending Dr. Chip and his staff for the best pet care in the county. I also wanted to thank them for all their caring help through the years. Keep up the great work! more

My response to bpickworth's post and a story for the ages! 9/26/2010

I too am suprised by the things that are said about my hospital and I think that taking some time to respond to a rather irate person who does not understand how we extended a helping hand in his time of need. So here goes one great story of how no good deed goes unpunished. more

Great 5/20/2010

I am surprised by other's bad feelings. I have taken 4 (5 over the years) dogs to Dr. Chip. He has gone the extra mile to research treatments for my greyhound. The boarding facility it immaculate and the people there have always been truly professional and caring. Wendy is no longer there, and the new officve manager is very nice. They were very caring and compassionate during a recent hardship of mine, and I would recommend them highly. Pros: Caring and compassionate people Cons: more expensive, but worth it more

BEWARE 3/30/2010

I am referring to the Lewis Center site. Building is exceptionally nice. Front staff warm and friendly but controlled by the office Manager who is very standoffish, rude and very unfriendly unless you are a CAT owner! I drove by and saw the sign. I stopped in to inquire about boarding and grooming. Again, front desk very nice, friendly and helpful....until office manager got involved. I had shot records for 1 of my dogs and not for the other. The receptionist told me should could my vet to complete the boarding. I got the majority of my paperwork completed for boarding. The office manager must have thought I left as she come out to the desk and told the receptionist that being so friendly and accommodating would cause them more work and never go the extra mile!!!!! I was in the restroom and heard EVER WORD! Long story very short...I left the building and did not show for my boarding. No fault of the receptionist...the office manager is a beast. She is obviously sick from her outward appearance and that I take sympathy on that but acting out and encouraging her staff to be as standoffish as she is, to not work for the customer is not good business practice. I will never go back to the Lewis Center location ,that is for sure. I am now a bit leery of HEALTHY PETS as a whole. Is this their company QA? Is this how they train everyone? Is that standard business practices? If my first experience is not pleasant I assure you I will not repeat my business.....such is the case here. Boarding is high, shot visits higher than other vets in the area, vaccinations higher than any vet in a 3 mile radius, unfriendly management (I think she said her name was either Wendy or Mindy).......not somewhere I will entertain doing my business with. anon Pros: Nice buildings Cons: Way too many to count more

Deceitful Practice if You Know Ohio Law 3/25/2010

After reading the reviews of the people below, I do agree that they are friendly and nice but only if you believe every word they say. Their attitudes change quickly whenever you confront them about their unwillingness to cooperate. We recently needed a prescription for our dogs flea medication and asked them to call it into a pharmacy where we could get it cheaper. They told us that it was illegal to call in the prescription and that we had to get the medication directly from them. They had no idea that I am a pharmacist and am entirely familiar with Ohio law and prescriptions. It is PERFECTLY legal to call in a prescription to any pharmacy of your choosing, they just refuse to in order to try and force you to buy from them. This is just one situation that i encountered, but if they are willing to lie about this, it speaks volumes for the ethical principles of this practice. Pros: Nice and friendly Cons: Nice and friendly only if you fall for their lies more

Wonderful Vet, Great Pet Care 1/31/2010

We have used Dr. Chip as our Vet for the past 8 years and he has been the most outstanding of doctors. Our pets have always received the absolute best in care, and our animals are known by name. Pros: Best Vet in Town, Professional, Full Hospital Services Cons: Busy more

switching vets 9/1/2009

I brought home a new puppy about 3 months ago and went to Healthy pets of wedgewood based on a recommendation from my girlfriend who takes her dog there. The first visit was very pleasing ($42 for the exam and stool sample, free sample of Sentinal flavor tab) with the exception the vet seemed very rushed. She spoke VERY fast, but was good with the dog. The second visit was not so great. We saw the same doctor who was about the same, but the assistant was different and not as good with my dog as the first visit assistant. He squeezed my dog too hard and didn't seem comfortable handling him. The office visit was $42 again, and Distemper was $27. (Best friends - where I now take my dog, charges $37 for a visit, and $18 for distemper vaccine) This time I also bought a one month supply of sentinal flavor tab from them price matched to 1800petmeds. I got home to realize they gave me interceptor flavor tab instead of what they were supposed to sell me. I took it back and they were happy to switch it out for the correct thing, but overall this was a hassle to have to go back. After telling my girlfriend, she checked her records and found out they did THE SAME THING for an entire year for her dog! I believe in making mistakes, but after hearing this I began to think they might pull this trick on purpose??? The combination of fast talking/unpersonable vet, over priced vaccines and procedures, and the medicine mix up has caused me to switch vets. (FYI - neuter at wedgewood = $222, neuter at Best friends = $205) SO if you want to at least save a few bucks, it makes sense to drive 3 mins down the road to best friends. Hopefully your experiences will be better than mine, but pet owner beware! Pros: Staff was friendly, great facility, easy to make apt. Cons: Price (compare to Best Friends), Gave me wrong meds, more

good experience 12/8/2008

I have used several vets over the years. I find the staff at Health Pets friendly and courteous. I have been taking my 4 pets there for the past two years and have only had positive experiences with both boarding and vet services. Pros: close by, great hours Cons: costs for grooming high more

Do not trust these people! 7/23/2008

Beware of some of the people associated with this facility. You may end up in legal proceedings since they use the law to get what they want. Some members are ruthless, greedy and deplorable. I would never trust my beloved pet in their hands. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!! more

All good experiences 6/9/2008

I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. They have never tried to force services or additional costs and are kind and patient with both of our dogs. I am setting up appointments this week to get both of our puppies spayed and expect the same this time. I have always left feeling good and knowing my pets were well cared for. Pros: Staff and Service more

PLEASE READ THIS! FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! 4/20/2008

HORRIBLE. I am writing this review, taking the time out of my day, to protect the consumers out there who are looking for someone they can trust their best friends (their pets) with. I have experienced THE WORST in customer service and perfomance. Doubletalking, snide, inconsiderate, self-serving, patronizing, condescending ""professionals"" who have only sought what is best for the BUSINESS of veterinary medicine, rather than putting our beloved pets at the helm of ultimate care. MAKE NO MISTAKE, THEY SEE $$, AND IF YOU DO NOT MATCH UP, THEY SMITE YOU AND YOUR INNOCENT PET WITHOUT EVEN BLINKING AN EYE. ZERO COMPASSION, ZERO EMPATHY BUT INFINITE GREED AND SELF-ABSORPTION. Pros: Heatlhy Pets of Wedgewood, Healthy Pets of Wedgewood, Healthy Pets of Wedgewood, Heatlhy Pets of Wedgewood, Healthy Pets of Wedgewood Cons: Horrible customer service. Lack of Empathy. Faulty equipment. Misdiagnosis. Do not judge a book by its cover. more
