Great food, Nice people 10/12/2009

I moved from New York, very surprise that is great japanese restaurant in the G'town TX. Great sushi, very fresh, and my friend had teriyaki, she told me sauce is very delicious . The chef told us they made all sauce themself. i will come back. Pros: great food at small town Cons: fresh fish and good service more

Good food, excellant waiter, manager/chef? awful 10/1/2009

The food was good. Kenny, our waiter, was attentive and helpful. The manager/chef, Yao, was unbelievably rude. We would never eat at this restaurant again. He came to our table and made an embarrassing scene with the waiter. He was obviously upset with the waiter but he should have handled it privately. Kenny, the waiter, was very gracious and apologized. We tipped Kenny well. I hope he did not have to share his tip with Yao. Pros: Good food, excellant waiter Cons: manager/chef? awful/rude more

Small portions 8/23/2009

This place charged too much for such a small portion. My 9 year old was still hungry and so was I. They need to add more for the price they charged. Don't recommened this place to anyone. Go some where else for better asian food. Cons: Charge too much more

Kobi Burgers - who knew they could be so good 5/8/2009

what a great appetizer or even a full meal if you want to keep it light. A perfect version of Japanese sliders. more

Yummy sushi 3/5/2009

Seeing that we live in the suburbs, I am so glad there is a sushi joint by the house. Going to Austin can be exhausting. This place is really nice and doesn't have the typical sushi smell. We were warmly greeted in Japanese. We had great service so I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about. I ordered the Cherry Blossom Drink, it was so tasty and my husband had a Sapporo Draft. I almost ordered a second one but I had to save room for sushi. My husband and I ordered the stuff tuna for an appetizer which came with 3 pieces. This stuff was to die for. It just melted in my mouth. Then we ordered the Foxy Lady and the Hayashi roll. The Foxy Lady was my favorite. I love how it comes wrapped with pink soy paper. The Hayashi was a bit too spicy for me but my hubby sure loved it. I have never seen that before. Overall my favorite sushi restaurant in the area. I'm definitely going there on my birthday and I'm going to try the 5 course meal they offer. I think its called the Omokase. Pros: Super Excellent food. Unique drinks and friendly staff. Cons: A bit pricey but coming at Happy Hour can make up for that. more

WORST RESTAURANT!! 3/1/2009

I found great sushi in Cedar Park 1/19/2009

Oh my gosh, I found a new great sushi place in Cedar Park. You wouldn't think, because of the location, that it would have such a good modern atmosphere. It is much different and much more high end than the other restaurants in the area. We used to have sushi downtown but now we found a great place that is much closer to where we live. We now found the downtown atmosphere closer to home. This was a great place to impress my cousin from out of town. The fish was very fresh, the server was welcoming, and the atmosphere gave a downtown feel which we were looking for instead of driving downtown. I would recommend this place for a date or just to hang out with friends! Pros: atmosphere, food, service Cons: parking, lighting more

Best Sushi in Georgetown 1/14/2009

A few years ago you couldn't find much sushi in Austin, let alone all the way up in Round Rock and Georgetown. Didn't find this hidden gem until I found out the sushi chef lived down the street from me. Now go regularly. They take great care of us and it's kid friendly too. Pros: Interesting Rolls, Great Chefs more

Disappointed in service... 1/11/2009

My place of residence is in San Diego, but have a 2nd house in Cedar Park & was there over the holidays. We had heard of Hayashi Sushi at the Cedar Park location. It had just opened approximately 6mos ago and was near the movie theaters, which was perfect, because we were wanting to go see a movie too. Pros: The Sushi was good... Cons: ...but what good is it if you can't get your food? more

Unlike any other sushi! Tasty and Healthy! Awesome Happy Hour!!! 10/27/2008

What a great place, a total hidden treasure!!! My husband and I had just moved here to Cedar Park from Los Angeles, and we were looking for a good sushi restaurant without having to go downtown. I tried one nearby that wasn't that great, so I wasn't expecting much in the area, when low and behold we found Hayashi in Cedar Park. WOW! The food was unlike any other sushi we have had anywhere. They make their own everything and I mean--everything! They make their own soy sauce that's low sodium. They make these great sauces for all their rolls. It's amazing. Miso, mangos and even strawberry sauces, I would have never thought to pair these particular tastes with sushi, but it is so tasty, not to mention so healthy. The staff was so helpful and the service absolutely impeccable. I got to sample a couple of sakes and loved this one, but I can't remember the name. If you go there, ask them to reccommend a good sake and you'll probably get something great. Apparently they have this amazing happy hour as well which we are definitely going to try. Sunday sounds like a good day to go. I read that they have $1 mimosas! Yum.....Oh, and don't let me forget to tell you about the ambiance....very modern and chic. Soooo L.A or New York! Love it. Reminds me of home. Check this place out!!!!!! Especially if you live nearby...save you a trip into town! Pros: Healthy and close by. Big city vibe. Cons: no cons more

AWESOME and Unexpected 7/31/2008

My husband and I went to the Cedar Park location. I have contacted citysearch and they will be creating a listing for that location as well. I just wanted to say how awesome our experience was. We actually only thought it would be decent place to go, but weren't expecting much at all. It was unassuming from the exterior, but we were blown away when we walked in, all the way to the end of the meal. The decor was amazing and very refined. It was upscale and beautiful. We went on a friday night and it wasn't packed. There was plenty of seating anywhere, but we wanted sushi so we choose to sit at the sushi bar. The sushi guy was great. very Knowledgeable, and helpful. The Miso soup was good, although I have certainly had better. Perhaps it was just that night. The Unagi (eel) was AMAZING. It was THE BEST I have EVER eaten anywhere, ever! It melted in my mouth and was AWESOME. I would have preferred a little more of the sauce that goes on it, but still words can't tell you have great it was. We also had the house favorite called the 'Go-Go'. It has spicy tuna, among other stuff. These were AWESOME, too! I had no idea but spicy tuna isn't spicy as I think of it. My husband has eaten spicy tuna in MANY places and he says it usually isn't. Spicy in this context just means it has spices in it. We also enjoyed eating the eel and avocado. The ONE and ONLY downfall was that the rice wasn't all that sticky. So the bigger 'go-go' roll was harder to eat since it wasn't really bite sized. It kinda fell apart if you tried to take bites though. However that could have just been a miscalculation when they cooked their rice that evening... and it wasn't so bad that we won't go again. The service was impeccable, the decor was beautiful, everything was just way way better than expected. You really feel like you are at a high end place when you eat here and the price is actually WAY WAY cheaper than the sushi place down town. Go here, you will have a new favorite, I promise! Pros: Great Food, Great service, Great Ambience Cons: the rice wasn't sticky enough the night we went more

Great sushi even if you can't make it to Austin 7/16/2008

I love Hayashi! They have amazing, fresh sushi - both traditional and more innovative offerings. You can't go wrong with any of the maki rolls and even if you don't like sushi they have delicious cooked options such as the mango chicken which is fabulous! They also have a great kids menu with things as standard as a burger to more ethnic offerings such as fried rice. I particularly like the ex-girlfriend roll and the one with sea bass and strawberry sauce - truly out of this world! They just opened up a new location in Cedar Park which is great and even has a happy hour menu with half priced drinks and $5 rolls and food. Such a good deal. I think this is a great place to go with the family or a late night place for drinks with friends. Couldn't love this place more! Pros: Great prices, great maki rolls, lots of non sushi options, nice ambiance, great service more

Innovative cuisine, freshest sushi around! 6/5/2008

I went to Hayashi after being recommended by a friend, and I'm so glad I did! As a self-proclaimed sushi connoisseur, I know good fish when I see and taste it, and this place is as fresh as it gets! The chef has the fish flown in from Hawaii and Japan, and picks it up from the airport himself! For those who don't do raw, there are many great options, including the chicken and mango (the best!) and the Chilean sea bass! The spicy salmon teriyaki is another must -have! Also, try the pineapple fried rice... hands down the best you will ever have, it will make you wonder what those other Asian restaurants are serving! If G-town isn't near you, I hear they are opening another location in Cedar Park!! Finally, some quality dining north of the Arboretum! Pros: Friendly staff, innovative cuisine, good portions Cons: Atmosphere could be more original, like the food! more

Excellent for even non-sushi people! 5/9/2008

I'm pregnant but still love sushi. Coming into Hayashi I told the chef of my problem - pregnant women can't eat raw fish! He said, ""Not a problem!"" then proceeded to give me a list of what he could make me. The choices weren't raw and they were very good. My husband doesn't like fish so he ordered the Teriaki Chicken. He said it was the BEST chicken he had ever eaten and would love to come back! I can't wait to be able to eat raw fish, Hayashi's will be the first on my list!! Pros: Great service and Wonderful food! Cons: Like any sushi, it's expensive! more

Hayashi = One Way Street For Your Credit Card 5/6/2008

We are pleased to see Georgetown attracting more upscale restaurants and Hayashi offers a delicious menu with a trendy atmosphere. That being said, if you plan to pay with your credit card and they make a mistake on your bill, requiring an adjustment or credit, be prepared to find your jaw drop. more

Can't Believe It's Georgetown 11/28/2007

Hayashi serves some of the best sushi I have ever put in my mouth. I cannot believe its in G'Town. I've had sushi across the U.S. including Philly, Boston, NY, Miami, Seattle and San Francisco. Besides its freshness, the menu features many fusion items including rolls with mango and papaya and a ceviche made with rice vinegar. For the meat and potatoes people, there is steak, chicken and they also do a 'surf and turf"" habachi or teriyaki style. For the die hard sushi eaters. Hayashi's also offers Omakase, offering a five, seven or nine course meal of the chef's choosing. Don't forget desert, tempura ice cream is my fave. Pros: Daily specials from the sushi bar and kitchen Cons: I don't have a stomach large enough, but that's just me. more

Best Sushi in austin!! 11/28/2007

I was very impressed with this restraunt from the moment I walked in. The mood and atmosphere are so comfortable and relaxing you notice it as soon as you walk through the door. I had the dragon roll and the spider roll along with the Hibachi salmon. The sushi was so fresh and made to perfection. The salmon literally just melted in my mouth it was so tender and the flavor was amazing. Even if you don't like sushi there is something for everyone at this restraunt. Also there is a full bar and happy hour sunday- thursday 4-7. They have amazing signature drinks such as the berry mojito my mom loved it!!!! I would so recommened this restraunt to everyone!!!! more

Most fresh fish and original dishes anywhere a must try!!! 10/8/2007

I love the signature dishes, they are great. I especially love how fresh the fish is, and the idea that the menu changes constantly, so that there is alot of variety in the menu and flavors. Bravo to Hayashi for such great food and flavor. I highly recommend this Japanese restaraunt. Pros: the food is original, fresh and delicious Cons: no cons more
