Good food, great atmosphere and service 4/26/2011

We had just arrived in St Augustine and walked 3 blocks from our B & B - there was a romantic courtyard with attached restuarant called Harry's The server was great- Thank you Matt! The portions were large, fried oysters were crisp and tender...and red beans and rice were great! Good music! Even though my wife's meal was not well cooked the manager immediate can out took care of the issue...I recommended to other folks at the B ^& B and they also liked it. Worth the walk! and the experience ! more

Its like taking a trip to New Orleans. 3/22/2009

I love harrys. I've been going to this particular Harry's since I was very young and it has continued to be a family favorite. Some of the food I've tried in the past has been quite unimpressive but their are some jems on this menu that i ADORE. The Eggplant and Crab meat napolean with hollandaise sauce is beyond incredible. (best dish on the menue) The Courtyard is beautiful, inside is high-paced, and the upstairs is very dainty and sweet. I recommend this place to anyone visiting St. Augustine, Exspecially ones with big parties. Pros: foooood!!!! staff, atomosphere Cons: I usually have to wait at least 30 mins to get a table. more

wonderful atmosphere 9/2/2008

We went to St Augustine on our honeymoon and asked a local the best place to eat first thing he said was it had to be Harry's and the food was wonderful we both tried dishes we had not heard of but they were worth the risk! There was live music, the service was fabulous and it was a relaxing dinner all around. If you go to St Augustine you have to visit Harry's! Pros: wonderful service, they give you bread with homemade garlic butter more

Great experience 7/26/2008

I visited Harry's with my whole family. There were 13 of us. They were very accommodating. The service was excellent, our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, very helpful for first timers. The food was also excellent. Everyone ordered something different and all loved what they ate. Would recommend to anyone. And the prices were very reasonable also for the amount of food you received. more

Great Atmosphere! 7/23/2008

This is a fun place to dine. We love the court yard and the bay front location. My father-in-law loves the Po-Boy sandwich. Black and Blue Salad is a nice choice too! more

Good food...eat in courtyard 12/2/2007

My husband and I unfortunately elected to sit inside because I forgot to bring my mosquito repellent. As we passed the courtyard dining, I immediately regretted our decision since much of what the restaurant had to offer was the ambience of the courtyard. The waiter was friendly but the food was average. I ordered the jambalaya and my husband ordered the Bourbon jumbo shrimp. We both enjoyed our food but thought that the New Orleans styled dishes were unmemorable. My jambalaya's rice was slightly undercooked and a bit crunchy at a few places but the spices were great. They did serve large portions for the jambalaya which was great for a late night snack that evening. Pros: courtyard ambience, portion, family friendly Cons: food quality, interior dining more

Beautiful ambience, awful food 10/15/2007

we've been to st. augustine a number of times and this restuarant is always packed so we decided to check it out. the restaurant itself is beautiful and charming, our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the outside courtyard is gorgeous, but the food is just awful. the crab soup was sickeningly sweet, the jumbalaya was bland, and the fried eggplant and crabmeat had no flavor. our bread plates also had gum stuck to them when they arrived at the table--gross!!! all in all, i'd say this is a great spot to take a break from walking and have a few drinks in the courtyard, but anything other than that will leave you disappointed. Pros: ambience, location Cons: awful food!!! lack of attention to detail more

Best jambalya I've ever had 4/12/2007

We eat at Harry's every year when we return to FL in the spring. We have never had a bad experience. The atmosphere, service and quality of food has been fantastic. My husband usually orders something different every time and I ALWAYS order the Jambalya and we split them so we can still try out something new. I can't wait to go again...unfortunately, it won't be until next year. We have a new baby on the way, so I won't be flying anywhere this year :) Pros: dine indoors or out, live music outside Cons: there's not a location in Michigan more

Avoid this place like the plague! 9/10/2006

This place is awful. It's very pretty, but that's where it stops unfortunately. My mom lives in St. Augustine and recommended Harry's but I'm sorry to say we'll never go back. My sister, brother-in-law and I had dinner there last Sunday and were VERY disappointed. I had the shrimp and scallops orleans, only to get one scallop about the size of a dime and 6 or 7 overcooked and chewy little shrimp, and a sauce that had no flavor but a LOT of spicy heat...and for $17? Blah. My sister's $22 filet that she requested be ""medium"" was VERY well done and tough, and only about an inch in thickness. My brother-in-law is allergic to seafood and could only eat a garden salad due to the fact that the waitress was unwilling to check and see if they grilled the seafood on the same grill as the burgers, we were told it was just ""too busy"" to check and see. We did complain, and were told that my sister's steak was ""cajun style"" and done the way it was supposed to be. Since when does Cajun = overcooked and tough? All of our food was sent back uneaten, and we waited 30 minutes for a manager who never came, and were told by the waitress that they could only give us 10% off of our $60 bill even though we didn't more than a few bites (I personally only had 4 bites) and sent the rest back. The waitress even admitted that the food didn't look good when she brought it out, and still we got nothing for it. I repeatedly called the next few days hoping to speak to a manager then, but was told that they were just too busy and someone would call me back. No one ever did. I'm so disappointed, and I honestly think they blew us off thinking that we were tourists and that we didn't matter anyways, as long as we paid our bill. What an awful way to do business. I'm telling everyone I know in St. Augustine about this, and posting reviews everywhere I can find to post one. I don't think I've ever had such a pathetic dining experience. Pros: Very pretty location Cons: Bad food, Bad service, Bad EVERYthing more

The courtyard rocks 8/13/2002

I usually dine at the Harry's in Jax Beach, but for a romantic evening I suggest the St. Augustine location. Their courtyard is beautiful with tons of trees to dine under. Wonderful food (never had anything less) and perfect ambiance. Be wary of going to the Ladie's room alone if the upstairs dining room is closed... it's reported to be haunted and I will say, it IS creepy. They have a wonderful staff and generous portions. It's a great little getaway. Pros: Beautiful courtyard, Friendly service, It's in St. Augustine Cons: There are none more
