Worst

I think they have very inconsistent service. I got a part-time stylist who trimmed much too much hair off and gave me a non-style, even though I showed here exactly what I wanted...

Prices are really fair and I never feel "ripped off" 3/2/2011

Sandy has been my stylist for nearly 5 years and she is fantastic. Not only is she really nice, her skills are excellent. I always love my color and she does an amazing scalp massage when she shampoos my hair. BTW - your prices are really fair and I never feel "ripped off". more

Maya Did A Really Nice Job 2/8/2011

i book appointments to see maya. she does really nice layers. i'm currently trying to grow out my short hair that was originally cut in an a-line. she texturizes it perfectly everywhere, and puts short layers at the top so it gives my hair more volume. more

"Don't touch the length" = CUT IT ALL OFF! 2/2/2011

Had MARYAM - Gave her two SPECIFIC instructions:\r 1. I want long layers. \r 2. DON'T TOUCH THE LENGTH!\r \r She said, "Oh no, I'll just take off about half an inch or so to make the ends look healthy."\r \r What did she do? She cut off 5-6 inches of my hair! I went from having hair at the middle of my back, all the way up to my shoulders! \r \r WHAT WAS SHE THINKING???\r \r I am so furious. To make matters worse, the short hair I now have isn't even attractive. It's a bizarre 80's style and absolutely hideous. I've never been so disappointed in a haircut in my life.\r \r You get what you pay for, ladies, and I would never, ever recommend this salon. I don't understand how she could have done this... more

Friendly 1/28/2011

A friend recommended Alma, and I was able to get an appointment with her the same day. She was friendly without being intrusive, was willing to give thoughtful recommendations when asked (as opposed to just saying "whatever you want"), and gave me a good basic cut. more

  • Hair International celebrates it's 22nd year at Stanford Shopping Center in Jan 2012. We have been voted best overall salon and best men's salon in the Palo Alto Weekly "Best of Palo Alto Readers Choice" award contest for five years in a row-2007,2008,2009,2010 and 2011.

    We take a real interest in our community and send stylists to the Woodside Priory and the Menlo School for all their senior fashion shows. we take part in "Locks of Love" helping girls donate their hair to be made into wigs for cancer patients. We are involved in an at-risk teen program "Spark", wherein we provide a mentorship spot for 2 students every semester. Our most important contribution has been visiting sick patients at Stanford hospital and servicing their needs at a very minimal price. We have done this for 22 years, and it remains the most meaningful of all we do.
