Best

great place for a rainy day for all ages

Worst

it's quite hectic in there, especially on rainy days

User review from LilaGuide.com 12/1/2003

This is a great rainy day activity place. My daughter can play for hours and it's not expensive. more

Great rainy-day entertainment. If you live close, get a membership and you can use it like a park. more

A wonderful place to let the children explore in a safe environment. So much to do! more

Perfect place for a rainy day--only watch out for sick kids. We've come home with some doozies after playing there. more

User review from LilaGuide.com 10/22/2003

If you have more than one child be sure to buy the yearly membership which will pay itself off in 2 visits. A must see! more

I did not enjoy my experience here at all. Parking is bad, no elevator and I had a double stroller, and they are expensive! more

great size and activities for toddlers, water play area is terrific, everything is easily accesible and inviting for busy toddlers. expensive, $5 for child, $6 for adult or $70 for a membership more

good place - my kids adore it sometimes too many people and too little space more

Fun for children of a wide age range. There is a special room for the very young, which stays quieter than the other areas--and safer from running, older kids. The water room is always a big hit with my daughter, as is the art room. The handouts for parents are very informative, and although I've never had a chance to take one of the classes they offer, they sound good--such as a class on how young children make art, and how to nurture the creative process in your child. My main dislike about Habitot is that it's in downtown Berkeley, and parking is difficult and/or expensive. If you drive, and park at the nearby convenient parking garage, one parent with one child can easily spend $20 for the outing if you give in to the temptation of buying some of the lovely toys--which are displayed prominently just as you enter the place! Or a snack or two. more

The staff is so nice. They even gave me a homemade playdough recipe. Very fun for kids. The entrance is not very stroller friendly. more

good for slightly older babies (but there is a garden area for nusing mothers and pre-walkers), lots of fun! sometimes crowded on weekend more

User review from LilaGuide.com 4/28/2003

staff can let large group of kids get out of hand - not safe for toddlers at those times more

Great art room Very small, exhibits do not change more

One of the only places where babies have their own section. Has a great space shuttle zone with lots of buttons. The crawling baby zone is only separated by a velcro fence and my son almost got hit in the head by the door being flung open by an older kid. There's not enough supervisional staff (some mothers let their kids get too rough around the smaller children). more

Many different activities for preschoolers. Can get really crowded at times. Could be intimidating for the shy child. more

fantastic facility for the kids and not too big so it is easy to keep track of them. Nice secluded couches to breastfeed on. Hoursof fun not good when there are too many kids more

This is a nice place to take children for a day out. The infant area is very nice, with a few toys and puzzles and lots of textures. It is easily accessible by BART, which means you don't have to battle with parking. It was hard to find the entrance the first time. more

This is a wonderful place for toddlers. My son loved exploring their pretend store. more

Once you buy the membership, it's quite affordable. The art room activities change daily. Easy, laid-back fun for kids from 1 to 7. Safe, fun, and great for learning for the kids and parents! Offer great programs and parties. It can get pricey if you don't buy a membership. more

User review from LilaGuide.com 3/1/2003

Different activities areas were nice and the arts and crafts part is well done. I thought it was very overpriced for what it was. There wasn't any staff around to keep children in line, as many parents were leaving their kids alone to play. It is definitely geared for older toddlers and children. It is very small area and if you go on a weekend, it will be too crowded to enjoy anything. more
