Rip-Off 4/2/2020

Wow!!! looking and reading all of the comments, makes me ill as hell with this company Greystone, so my husband and i move from Fulton County had Georgia Power never missed a payment on time Good Credit, so we purchase a home in Austell in February and found out that Greystone who i never heard of would be the carrier, so i call up for new service i e-mail the documents that was requested called back a few days later and was told that my husband and i needed to be on a (3) way call to verify our information which i disagreed with because we were both at work and didn't have time for that foolishness... so moving on i told her to go ahead and put the utilities in my name well she then said that she would have to pull a soft credit i said o.k. no problem in my mind i have a 7 + score so she comes back and says oh ma'am there will be a $390.00 deposit i said for what???? oh well you should receive a letter from the credit bureau and it will have the explanation on there which is BULL!!!! on top of that she charged me another $22.95 processing fee, so iask what the hell what she processing...NO EXPLANATION!!! on top of that she charged me another $10 for becoming a member what da hell!!!!. listen everyone i'm sure there is something that can be done about this, and another thing reading some of the comments ya'll mean to tell me that some of ya'll power has been cut because you have a balance of $2, $100 or even an elderly person that your service was cut?????? that's crazy another thing is as much money as they are stealing and taking from us customers that should be able to purchase some new head sets or update their phone system because it sucks, wow this is soooo sad due to what the nation is going through and these folks don't care again there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! 0000000000!!!!! unprofessional as heck and how do yhis staff lie down at night and sleep?? what if it was your family that needed help GREYSTONE WORKERS??? think about it maybe things will change when they go out of business!!! more

You are nobody 10/29/2019

Bank of America changed my credit card without notice so Greystone didn't get paid. They cut off my power with zero notice even though I am a senior with asthma and filled out a letter from my doctor saying so. I still keep trying to give Greystone the new credit card number but can't break into my own account log in. Unfriendly wooded site. No one will answer the phone at Greystone. I'm going to get the power cut off again and charged an enormous amount for the fee because I can't get them to communicate with me. Horrible company! more

OUTRAGEOUS RECONNECTION FEES 7/25/2018

We have never missed paying our power bill until this month. Due to me having two surgeries and my husband working 12+ hour days, he forgot to mail it in. Yesterday we came home to our power being turned off. The only notice we received was the one placed on the door when they came to turn it off. The reconnect fee was $290.00 plus the bill with the late fee! We lost all of our groceries also! IS THIS THE WAY THEY TREAT ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS?? The bad thing is we have a transformer or power line across the street that seems to draw the lightening and our power goes out every time it sprinkles or every time the wind blows and it stays off several hours. MAYBE WE SHOULD BILL THEM $290.00! EVERYTIME THIS HAPPENS!! more

How do they get away with this 5/14/2018

I have 2 accounts with them and just realized they charge 25.00 service fee on both which are on the same property. How outrageous!! A service fee for what??? What can we do to fight this!!! more

Mixed review 10/2/2014

I have had both bad and good feedback with them. First, I love their customer service for the most part and 9/10 times they go out of their way to help you. The other side of that is that I have a disabled father in law who couldn't pay his bill until one day after the cut off, he paid it and then they charged a reconnect fee, I understand this fee but it really doesn't make sense to charge someone who couldn't afford to pay their bill, that only puts them farther behind. I on the otherhand am on prepaid and absolultely love the service. more

Great Company w/ Fair Prices - the Best!! 6/3/2013

GreyStone is a great company, very good prices, and nice people to work with. We have been a customer now for almost 12 years - and we've never had a problem with them. Now, the last house that we rented, did not have good seals on the windows and the basement was unfinished so needless to say - our electric bill was very high - but that was not the fault of GreyStone. We have since moved to a new house 1900 sq ft ranch w/ newer windows and our power bill has decreased by 50%. I love it cool - so we keep our a/c on about 69 degrees - so we like it cold. brrrr! Now, we have lost power a few times - not many - but they are always very quick about getting the power back on. For people with high electric bills (especially if you know you're not using that much) - I would really recommend that you try to have your windows and basements checked for small leaks - that will impact your bill greatly. It did ours. We really like GreyStone Power!! more

Budgeted energy usage 6/27/2011

I am outraged at how you and your corporation are raping the Douglasville community with these budget energy usage numbers. When I opened my electric bill I could not believe how your company is overbilling me. I left home May 16, turned off everything but two lights on timers in the house and two outside lights. Please keep in mind no air conditioning and unplugged everything not necessary to be plugged. I returned home on May 27, but did not turn on the air conditioning until Sunday May 29. I used the air conditioning unit for one whole day because I left home again on Tuesday, May 31 and did not return until Tuesday June 7. My house is a ranch approximately 1,700 square feet only one floor is using the air conditioner unit. Why did my utility bill almost double from April to May? Please explain that to me; I am tired of utility companies and big companies ripping off the general public. To make matters worse I can’t change electric companies is definitely a slap in the face. I spoke with one of your customer representatives and he told me in order to get my meter checked to see if it was working properly I needed to pay $50.00 for a service charge. What an additional outrage. I will begin talking to my neighbors, my association and anyone who will listen about this outrage injustice. There is no sense in how you are overbilling families, who are just surviving because of companies like yours who take advantage of the very people, who keep you in business. The utility commission needs to be aware of how you are budgeting what to charge families based on your financial needs. more

Greystone Sucks @ Customer Service 6/13/2011

I have a better chance of winning the Lottery than to have someone actually answer a phone there at Greystone. I have tried for two weeks to discontinue service. They won't shut it off nor answer their phones & if I do get through it's a phone maze designed to discourage the caller. Amazing!! If there were no stars they could have one of those. Greystone Sucks at Customer Service. Heck I'll move ... and I did to get away from them. more

Questionable business pratice 12/15/2010

Good: Ms. Linda in the front office. Bad: the 160 increase added to by bill with notice or consideration to my finanical situation. Improvements: rates for affordable. more

Greystone is a Good Power Company 8/24/2010

As long as you don't break you're arrangement they are fine. They do go out of their way to work with you. I've been with them for 3+ yrs and I have not had any problems with them and yes I had to pay that $500 deposit but that's the nature of the beast when you're credit challenged. I think their rates are good as well. This past month has been extremely hot. I have 2000+ sq ft 2-story home. I keep my thermostat at 75degrees and my bill was only $117! Whew!! ~45944101~ more

no conscience 5/19/2010

20 yr customer and they shut my power off in january while my wife was dying from cancer. they were asked to call me so i could take them the payment. they refused. also charged me $500 "deposit" on top of the bill. i don't see how these people sleep at night. more

Greystone is NOT for Families 11/17/2009

Any Company that will shut your power off after a flood and economy crash is NOT for anyone or any American. If you miss one arranged payment you have cut your own throat with this company no matter what the issue is unless of course you have died. We need utility regulatory boards because there is no regulating entity that can assist the public with this type of company. If I win the lottery remind me to start a new more cost efficient power company. Fair competition would be an emense help in this area. more

Also pissed off 12/17/2008

I completely agree! We have also have had six years of perfect payments and they are unwilling to take a credit letter! I would rather have higher rates than to have to drop $400+ all at once! On a somewhat positive note, a supervisor lowered our deposit from $435 to $360. Not great, but better. Ridiculous company! more

NOWAY 11/27/2007

Greystone states that the company belongs to you.. it is funded by the community. HOW IN THE HELL WITH THIS MANY PEOPLE DOES IT COST 350 FOR A DEPOSIT?!?! I HAVE HAD LIGHTS IN MY NAME FOR 15 YRS WITH NO MISSED PAYMENTS....BUT THEY STILL ARE MAKING ME PAY THAT DEPOSIT. TO HELL WITH THEM! more

Cheap Security Service 7/2/2005

Greystone power not only supply you with electricity but they also offer Residential Security systems and monitoring. I was locked into ADT for 3 years paying $30 a month only to find out Greystone charges $18.95 a month without a contract. Customer service is also very helpful. Although it would be nice not to have to pay a service fee for the option of paying by phone and online. more
