I purchased a pre-paid visa card from cvs that is called greendot. I bought this to pay my bills online, well when i went to activate the card, i put in all my information, then they sent me to a customer service representative and she told me that they denied me and she couldnt tell me why, that they would send me my money back in the mail within 7-10 business days, well this really makes me mad for one because on the package the card came in, it says NO CREDIT CHECKS, so if there is no credit checks, then how the heck can they deny me?? I work at a job that is $7.00 an hour and i have a 3 year old little girl, i dont have the time or money to waste while people are out taking advantage of everyone. Thats ok because i contacted the bbb and they will get charged with fraud. Sick and tired of people over seas taking advantage of everyone. Cons: con artists more

Using a Green Dot pre-paid card has helped me only spend what I earn rather than get into credit card debt. And the direct deposit has made it so I dont need to use a traditional bank (US Bank) which alway ripped me off in fees. I dont quite understand all the negative complaints against Green Dot cause Ive never had any issues. Pros: No credit card debt Cons: Can't write checks more

DO NOT BUY ANY CARD FROM GREEN DOT.\r \r I got my money stolen from my preload moneypak without my knowledge. When I called Green Dot to report stolen and request for investigation. All they responsed is to files a police report and when subpoena is served, they will look into it.\r \r Such a bogus company. I should check out their review before buying their card. First time and also the last time. more

After having read all of these reviews....I simply want to let everyone know that this 'bogus' company has hundreds of complaints lodged against them through a variety of different avenues. The Dept. of Consumer Affairs..The BBB...etc.\r So what I did..and I suggest that everyone else do..was to file a complaint with California State Attorney Generals Office. What a piece of garbage. Green Dot is totally taking advantage of people. Their customer service is pure she-ite. They need to be investigated and the clowns that are in charge should be made an example of. OK... you try and get a hold of their so called customer service after spending way toooo much time with the prompts. If you have a problem with them, too bad for you. My advice is to try and find an honest company that you can deal with. Oh, my bad... they don't exsist any more do they. It looks like we are screwed just like our economy. Their product is not as advertised. If you load or spend any significant amount they will suddenly ""block"" your card from use and ask for explanation. A bad situation if your dining at a cafe or staying at a hotel when they ""block"" it. Their customer service is located in some third-world dung-heap like India where if you can even reach them you'll never understand what they're saying. Avoid at all costs. more

AVOID buying greendot prepaid cards! Greendot cards are a rip off. There customer service is awful and slow!! They take money off your card for fees that you have never heard of, customer service operators are rude and barely speak english! They put a hold on my card because I recieved a rather large amount of money in a direct deposit and I had to prove to them that the money was actually owed to me!!! I sent 8 faxes and then that still wasnt good enough. Finally I had to call the corporated office who was no help at all...they transferred me back to customer service. Finally, I had to get a lawyer to have the card closed and a check mailed to me. I would not recommend this card to my worst enemy!!!!!! Pros: buying online or over the phone is possible Cons: it's a rip off....they steal your money more

Hi, my name is Dominique Carson-Jones and I have bought a card from this company and I have been experiencing some technical difficulties. I purchased the card on Aug. 23, 07 at 3:43 pm and was told that I had to wait about 60 minutes for everything to go through which I ended up waiting til the next day. I was not told anything about any age requirement. At about 2:45 pm I called and started the process. After giving the rep my activation code my name and birthday,he told me that my birthday would the way that they would identify me. I was told to call back with a parent or guardian because I was under age so I said ""Ok, fine."" Before I could ask for any type of identification he had hung up the phone. I have tried and tried to call back and talk to a rep, but every time I call they ask for a activation number, a card number, or my social security number and the rep did not take or give me any of that information.
