We boarded our German Shepherd here a few times, and will NOT be going back. Upon boarding our dog, I asked about the daily routine for the dogs. I was extremely disappointed to learn that dogs are left in their kennels for 16 HOURS (from 3:30pm until 7:30am). This is for the dogs that have ""daycare"" during the day, which you pay extra for. They are fed at 3:30pm in their kennel, and not let out again to until 7:30am. I asked if other customers had issues with this schedule and they said that no one has ever asked, expressed concern, or questioned this routine. (I have a hard time believing this is true). I also called our Vet who confirmed that 16 hours was far too long for a dog to go without eliminating, especially after feeding them. There are two separate areas that dogs are boarded. The dogs that have ?daycare? during the day are kenneled in an area that does not have outside access for those 16 hours, while the dogs that are boarded without ?daycare? are in a kennel with a small pavement area to eliminate. I had to specially request my dog (with daycare) stays where the boarded dogs without daycare stay in order to make sure he would have an area to eliminate in. I also had to wait 1.5 hours upon arrival just to see the space he would be spending his 16 hours in. The owner?s justification of why it?s ok to leave a dog for 16 hours without eliminating was that ?they play so hard therefore they sleep so hard? and ?are fine without being let out?. Again, our vet did not agree with this theory. Also, thank goodness for their two-gate entry into the dog play area, because I watched my dog open the first gate up, and was on his way to opening the second gate, but coincidently, the owner caught him before breaking loose. (The boarding facility sits only about 1,000 ft. from the VERY busy Hwy 212). While picking my dog up, he was able to push the gate (inside the building) open enough to get his head stuck in it and couldn?t get out. Their flimsy gates are not meant to hold in large dogs whatsoever. The staff and owner seem to be in this business for one reason, and it?s not for the love of dogs. If you want quality care for your dog(s) while you are away, do NOT board them at Green Acres K-9 Resort.
