We have driven by Green Acres K9 resort for a few years and it looked like the perfect place for a pet to play! After having our energetic lab/ greyhound mix for a year, we went on a three day trip and left our Oscar... What a treat for him! While visiting for the first time, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I called several times and they always promptly returned my call. We left and I still called, as this was the first time we were away from him. Oscar is a gentle soul with kids and dogs, but is very eager and spirited. The staff members knew him by name and were complimentary about his nature. They also said that they were working on his patience, as we are at home. It was the perfect combination! They assured me on the phone that he was adjusting fine and we were convinced when we picked him up. He was so healthy looking and clean, considering they get hours of free time outside on a five acre field with a creek - dog heaven! He was happy to see us, but had content written all over him. The amount of fresh air and healthy exercise left him tired for a few days. The staff at drop off and pick up were informational, patient, and very gracious to us and Oscar. All of his bedding was returned to us clean and Oscar smelled so good too! I was impressed that they knew him well, helped him with reminders- "" stay/ wait ""and appreciated his energetic little soul! We will definitely be back, as a treat for Oscar! He absolutely loved Green Acres and so did we! more

We love Green Acres even more now than ever. Our dogs have been coming here for years and it has just gotten better and better. They are constantly working on improving the spaces that they have. We love that this place acknowledges what dogs are. Our dogs, even our little one, get to run freely, playing, digging and chasing birds. They are also very conscientious about getting the dogs clean and dry for the night even after playing outside in the water and dirt and grass. For a 'Green' city like Portland, this is the most 'Green' facility I know of. The dogs get a lot of exposure to fresh air, grass, dirt and water. They constantly strive to meet the holistic needs of the dogs without trying to turn the dogs into something they are not. They are meticulous in their sanitation of the buildings - they hardly ever smell bad. In addition, they pay close attention to our dogs getting too much exercise which can be a problem for our little guy. They are not cageless as the dogs have their own kennels when the workers are not around. But they are also not a prison with the dogs being cooped up in tiny boxes or kennels that are impenetrable. We definitely recommend this facility for anyone who enjoys a dog for what they are and would love to give their dog a vacation of their own while they are away. more

Daisy loves this place as do I. The staff are great and the dogs are cared for and loved. If you are looking for a indoor (less dog friendly) please you should look else where. They focus their services on what a dog loves. Attention and play time. They are priced below market rate and the service has gotten better and better every year I have used them. Keep it up! We love your place! more

This is absolutely the worst, most poorly run business I have ever had the displeasure of coming into contact with and no one could pay me enough money to leave my dog at this place.\r \r This ""family owned and operated"" business is far from respectable. The owner and her family do not even live in Oregon, so the website and all of their information is extremely misleading.\r \r Make sure to read the fine print on the paperwork you sign, because you are releasing Green Acres from any responsibility whatsoever when an incident happens and TRUST ME, incidents happen frequently here. Dog fights, illnesses, escapes are a regular thing here. You are also agreeing to foot the bill on any medical expenses incurred and to pay the final boarding bill NO MATTER WHAT or your dog will be held at the kennel, incurring more boarding charges until you pay. There is no getting around it. Don't expect to be able to talk to the owner about any issues because she will avoid you like the plague while instructing the staff to get your money no matter what.\r \r Your dog might be boarded in an area where it won't have access to a place to eliminate overnight (from 4pm when they are put up for the night until 7:30 am when they are let out.) When they give you the tour, they tell you that your dog will be boarded in the kennel building with access to an outdoor, concrete area to eliminate in, but on busy weekends and holidays, they just cram the dogs into makeshift chain link ""kennels"" in the office building with nothing but rusty wires and fencing separating them from other aggressive dogs. (They have no behavioral assessment, so allow any dogs in regardless of their temperament... one of the many reasons why dog fights happen frequently.) \r \r They have no cap of the amount of dogs they allow to attend and only have a few staff members to supervise the dogs. So expect your dog to be milling around with 30-40 (sometimes far more) unpredictable dogs with little to no supervision. When they are supervised, the go-to method of behavioral corrections include yelling, spraying in the face with water hoses and spray bottles and extended ""time-outs.""\r \r Oh yeah, and that ""5 acre field with spring fed ponds"" is also the dumping ground for all the feces that is removed from the property. So you can count on that spring fed pond being a petri dish full of diseases from the run off.\r \r Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for dog boarding. This place looks nice at first glance because of the misleading information and pictures on the website and because of the lies you are told when you take a tour, but honestly this place needs to be shut down. Most of the good reviews you read here are from regular customers who got a free day of daycare because they brought in a printed copy of their positive yelp or google review. What a joke. more

Horrible experience...\r Came to pick up my dog on a Monday and found they did not have his bed. Apparently it went home with another customer. I wasn't offered an apology, nor, in my opinion, treated with any care or concern at all and I have managed businesses and work in a professional realm. Still, being more than reasonable, I gave them a chance to resolve it quickly. After me calling twice the following day, I was finally told someone else had taken it and could return it Friday. I asked that they just refund me $45, the cost of the bed, so my dog could have something to sleep in and because I wasn't comfortable knowing it had been who know's where for the remainder of the week. Seemed like a fair resolve to me, but apparently is against Green Acres ""policy"". I felt this to be so silly as it's only $45! My wife and I can afford to board our dog, so affording a new bed really isn't a problem, but the principal of the situation is. It's always been my policy when managing a business to keep my clients happy within reason. If I had lost, misplaced or allowed their property to vacate my care to their inconvenience I would have no problem rectifying the situation, especially when it's as nominal as $45. In addition, the level of professionalism and customer service I received with each phone call from start to finish is in my opinion as poor as it comes. Comparing Green Acres to other kennels I've done business with, I would feel secure in rating them with a thumbs down and would tell my friends to never take their dogs there. more

Lilly loves this place. She is a lab and enjoys the daycare part of boarding. Second time she went she ran out of the car and straight into the building. We will continue to choose this place.Staff has always been friendly and professional. more

Our two dogs, Ayla and Bailey, have 4/12/2012

Our two dogs, Ayla and Bailey, have been going to Green Acres K9 Resort for almost two years now and they love it! They both are excited to go every time and come home very tired. Usually they sleep for a few days after arriving home due to the amount of fun they had while at Green Acres. Great place! Great dog lovers! more

Our lab was injured at Green Acres 12/21/2011

Our lab was injured at Green Acres resulting in nearly $400 in vet fees and a couple weeks recovery. They refused to take responsibility or pay the bills. They didn't even call after it happened, but made a comment after we went to pick him up that he had caught his ear on a fence. But, they could not find the fence where it happened, and the vet said it it was a puncture wound and tear likely caused by a bite. We are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and meeting with our lawyer regarding legal action. Do NOT take your pet there. more

K-9 Boarding All Stars! 9/1/2011

We had been looking for a boarding place for awhile when we heard about Green Acres. On our first visit, a very nice woman showed us around, giving us a ""behind the scene"" tour and answering every question we fired at her. Before our Husky passed away, he loved going for a visit and getting to play with the other pups. Our other two dogs enjoyed going and loved the warm kennel areas. Our new puppy is going next week, and I know he will love it. If you are looking for a great place, with open spaces, nice kennels ""for down-time"" and a nice staff, Check out Green Acres! more

WE LOVE GREEN ACRES!!! 8/26/2011

We have used Green Acres for Daycare and Boarding and have been very pleased every time! Our dog always comes home happy and ready for a good rest from playing so much. We were pleased to find out that when we requested them to feed our dog and wait 1 hour before letting her play to avoid bloat, they informed us they do that standard to all dogs:)! We never worry when she is there and love seeing her play and run with the other dogs:) Gave 4 stars only because I had called in to let them know that Emma and my husband were on their way and gave them all the feeding and care instructions. But when my husband showed up they had nothing written as if I hadn't called. I think it was just a communication error and no big deal, he just couldn't leave right away. Love Green Acres!!! more

If you truly care about your dog, do NOT board them here... 8/15/2011

We boarded our German Shepherd here a few times, and will NOT be going back. Upon boarding our dog, I asked about the daily routine for the dogs. I was extremely disappointed to learn that dogs are left in their kennels for 16 HOURS (from 3:30pm until 7:30am). This is for the dogs that have ""daycare"" during the day, which you pay extra for. They are fed at 3:30pm in their kennel, and not let out again to until 7:30am. I asked if other customers had issues with this schedule and they said that no one has ever asked, expressed concern, or questioned this routine. (I have a hard time believing this is true). I also called our Vet who confirmed that 16 hours was far too long for a dog to go without eliminating, especially after feeding them. There are two separate areas that dogs are boarded. The dogs that have ?daycare? during the day are kenneled in an area that does not have outside access for those 16 hours, while the dogs that are boarded without ?daycare? are in a kennel with a small pavement area to eliminate. I had to specially request my dog (with daycare) stays where the boarded dogs without daycare stay in order to make sure he would have an area to eliminate in. I also had to wait 1.5 hours upon arrival just to see the space he would be spending his 16 hours in. The owner?s justification of why it?s ok to leave a dog for 16 hours without eliminating was that ?they play so hard therefore they sleep so hard? and ?are fine without being let out?. Again, our vet did not agree with this theory. Also, thank goodness for their two-gate entry into the dog play area, because I watched my dog open the first gate up, and was on his way to opening the second gate, but coincidently, the owner caught him before breaking loose. (The boarding facility sits only about 1,000 ft. from the VERY busy Hwy 212). While picking my dog up, he was able to push the gate (inside the building) open enough to get his head stuck in it and couldn?t get out. Their flimsy gates are not meant to hold in large dogs whatsoever. The staff and owner seem to be in this business for one reason, and it?s not for the love of dogs. If you want quality care for your dog(s) while you are away, do NOT board them at Green Acres K-9 Resort. more

My Dog Molly 6/21/2011

I found that not only did Green Acres have good prices but they had a great place. My dog was able to run in the pond and huge field which is something he can't do at home ever since we moved to an apartment. (They rinsed him off every day so he didn't come home smelling like he'd been outside all week)The staff are friendly there, they know us by name! I would definitely recommend Green Acres to others. more

DO NOT GO HERE! THEY ALMOST KILLED MY DOG! 12/6/2010

They almost killed my dog. After picking our dog up from Green Acres we had to take him immediately to the ER. He spent 5 days in an oxygen chamber from a heat stroke. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING YOUR DOG HERE! Upon talking with them, they admitted our dog had been throwing up for days. I was never contacted nor was I told he had gotten sick upon picking him up. They refused to even refund his stay. I can not believe they are still in business. Please think twice before picking this place!!!! more

We love Green Acres 10/30/2010

Green Acres is our dogs' home away from home...we have a boxer named Jack that loves it there so much he is always depressed for the next few days following his stay there.....the staff is so friendly.....we are grateful we can leave our beloved Jack with people that love him too. more

Good with dogs, but not humans 4/3/2010

We were told about Green Acres by friends and were very excited to take our dog there. However, we were highly disappointed. The customer service was terrible. The female owner was inflexible and stern. When we arrived with our dog we were met by an unfriendly male, who seemed put out by the drop off. I'm sure the owners are great with dogs, but their interactions with humans could really use some work. Pros: Large spaces to run Cons: Customer service more
