We recently had a room in our basement finished with Owens Corning Basement Finishing System, by Great Lakes Window and Siding. We saw the product at the Midwest Home Show, thought it might be a solution for our cold basement. Gary came to our home, measured & quoted a price and explained the project. We decided it was worth the investment. The construction process was quick, and the workers were all pleasant and efficient. We had several “punch list” items to clean up after the major installation was complete, and that took longer than it should have. We have since carpeted the room and finished some window trim, and the room looks great. One of our goals to warm up the space, literally, as our basement is so cold. Even though the walls are now insulated, and heating vents moved to better cover the room, we still have a cold room, but at least it looks good. more

My wife and I used the Owens Corning Basement Finishing system in our 105 year old house, and the results were incredible! We got an additional 700 square feet in the house, which we turned into the perfect home theater. The Basement Finishing walls make for the perfect audio experience, and the drop ceiling and removable wall panels make hiding wires super easy. The installation was very fast. In about a week and a half the entire project was completed. Everyone on the crew was professional and respected our concerns, especially about keeping doors shut so our cats couldn't escape. For older homes, I definitely recommend using the Basement Finishing system. It's quick, affordable, and really flexible for cramped basements or crazy floor plans. more

My wife and I checked out their booth at the State Fair as we were in the market for some new windows. The woman we spoke with was very pleasant and friendly so we decided to schedule a free consultation.\r \r The sales person did a thorough job of explaining windows, but was a little misleading in that he didn't communicate the range of window offerings he had until the very end (I guess this is considered top-down selling). He spent nearly 3 hours at our house and was rather pushy. We decided to ""try them out"" by purchasing one window and to save ourselves from having to listen to another person's sales pitch.\r \r So, it has been nearly two months since the window was originally installed, and I'm sorry to say it is still not working correctly. I'm on my second set of screens that are too big and they are sending out a 7th person (that's right I've had 7 different people at the house) to try to fix it. Oh, and by the way the contractors damaged our dining room table in the process.\r \r Although they did offer to give us a discount for the damaged table, I have not heard one apology from their company for their carelessness. Overall, I'm not happy with the quality of the craftsmanship or their service. I would not recommend and will not be purchasing any additional windows from them. more
