My wife and I used the Owens Corning Basement Finishing system in our 105 year old house, and the results were incredible! We got an additional 700 square feet in the house, which we turned into the perfect home theater. The Basement Finishing walls make for the perfect audio experience, and the drop ceiling and removable wall panels make hiding wires super easy. The installation was very fast. In about a week and a half the entire project was completed. Everyone on the crew was professional and respected our concerns, especially about keeping doors shut so our cats couldn't escape. For older homes, I definitely recommend using the Basement Finishing system. It's quick, affordable, and really flexible for cramped basements or crazy floor plans.
