like restaurants used to be??? none that I return to 8/30/2010

I would have preferred to leave a comment on the restaurant's website but there was no way to do that....unusual that feedback is not solicited and contained therein...though the food was not bad it was not exceptional. the most off-putting thing was being charged $2.00 (yes, $2.00) for blue cheese dressing. it was not indicated as an up-charge on the menu and our server never mentioned it at the time I ordered. We had ordered 2 full entrees and a bottle of wine so we weren't there to save $$$. I just like to know when I'm being charged for something before the event. this was very, very bad form and as a result we will not return...regrettable. more

Not Even Close!! 2/26/2010

After reading reviews we decided to give this restaurant a try.... bad mistake!! The food was uninspiring, the bread was ""italian style"" wonder bread at best. The stuffed artichoke was dry and tasteless, and didn't even look like it started out as an artichoke!! The ""fresh"" pasta was rubbery and the sauce flavorless and watery.... the quality of the food certainly didn't justify the prices... there are a lot of Italian restaurants in the Chicagoland area, if this restaurant is going to be compared to Taylor Street it needs Gordon Ramsay ASAP!!! Pros: Nice Staff | Nice Atmosphere Cons: The Food more

Great Food / Poor Service 1/10/2010

Sat down at 6 pm. Service started out great, then went downhill quickly. After dinner, waited and waited for server to order dessert. Finally, got to our table & ordered. Dessert did come out quickly. After dessert, waited and waited for wait person to give us our check (3 other tables were waiting for their checks also). Got up from table and asked hostess to get us our check, which she did. Again, the food was excellent, but service is part of the dining experience and we were so disappointed. I am sure there are other restaurants in the area they have excellent food and great service. Will never return, not worth it. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: Sub-Standard Service more

Best Chicagoland Food in the Area 1/3/2010

Our family is a yearly subscriber to the Chicagoland Entertainment book and we decided to take advantage of the coupon within, for Giacomo's Ristorante Italiano. To put it simply we were more than satisfied. From the Service to the food it cannot be beat. We conceivably pass at least 10 well known Italian restaurants to get there. Mr. and Mrs. Zito are unbelievable at what they do ,which is making the customer feel at home and receiving a great meal. Although we have only been back ounce since, the holidays are over and we will be back more frequently. Although you would think it was not a child friendly establishment, you would be WRONG. Anna Maria greeted our 1 year old with such love and even Giacomo himself came out of the kitchen to make sure he said ""HI"" to him both times. To sum it up , make your way to Giacomo's for an authentic genuine experience and best of all , THE FOOD!!! The Newman's Deerfield, IL. Pros: Servuice - Atmosphere - Food - more

Chicagoland's best Italian restaurant no doubt 6/17/2009

Sensational cuisine. Expertly prepared. The 10 years that the Zitos have owned this place, really shows in the presentation, preparation and quality. The homemade pasta dishes and the unique freshness of their seafood and poultry dishes is unmatched anywhere else in Chicagoland, Maybe even in North America. Whether or not they are Zagat rated is irrevelant, as a experienced restaurant consumer, I know they ought to be high on the list.\r Prices are more than reasonable. You'd expect to pay much more downtown. The dining room is warm, cozy and the aroma of the freshly prepared Italian delights caress your senses and stimulate your appetite.\r I highly recommend their daily specials and appetizer varieties. Save room for dessert. The Tiramisu is to fight for. (I would say die for, but then you wouldn't get to eat it).\r Pros: affordably fantastic Cons: undiscoverable more

THE BEST restaurant anywhere hands down! 3/25/2007

Giacomos is my favorite restaurant to go at anytime. The service is fabulous, the prices are reasonable, and the food is INCREDIBLE! I first started going here about 4 years ago and I keep coming back for more. I have had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Even though it is an Italian restaurant, the steak that he serves is one of the best I have ever had. I love the parmesan cheese they have on the table to mix with olive oil and dip bread into. The homemade pasta is terrific (try the picky-packy sauce). All of the entrees make my mouth water. Try to save room for dessert. The tartuffo is not to be missed. I feel like part of the family every time I come here. The wait staff is very courteous and they always recommend an excellent wine. Anna is so friendly, and Chef Giacomo comes out of the kitchen (when he is not too busy) to greet everyone and see how they are doing. I live 35 miles away, and must pass about 100 Italian restaurants to come here, but I don?t mind the drive because I know I?m going to be getting the best! I even had Giacomos cater my wedding and everyone was raving over how delicious everything was. I can?t say enough about this place other than if you don?t try it, you are truly missing out. Pros: The parking, the staff and especially the food Cons: Absolutely none more

The Pollo Di Anna is awesome. 8/28/2006

I went on a Tuesday night, later in the evening (8:30 p.m.). No wait, but I think I caught the last of the food. Salad was wilted and dressing was watered down. Meat stuffed mushrooms seemed to need a little more cooking time to be done.\r \r But the main course was awesome. The Pollo Di Anna was an interesting twist on the old standard Chicken Parmesan. Highly suggest this dish...\r \r ...but you may want to go on a night where it is a little more crowded to avoid sub-par starters. Pros: Main Courses Cons: Appetizer, Salad more

WOW the best italian! 2/5/2006

I went for the first time a few days ago and found out that this is by far MY FAVORITE italian restuarant. There was NO wait and the staff was extremely friendly and curtious. The waiter suggested a wine that i found myself craving for days afterwards and went extremely well with our five course dinner. Walked out with so much food to take home and a very very reasonable bill. Their food is fresh and has an authentic home made italian quality came out to the table PIPING hottt!!! Everything that was brought to our table was more delicious than the next....i highly recommend this place. The sign outside of the restaurant is very true, it IS ""the way restaurants use to be"".!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!! Dont wait and just GOOO!!!! YOU MUST TRY THE LASAGNA! LIKE NOTHING YOUVE EVER HAD! EVER!!!!! more

All the way from Orland Park- no problem! 1/23/2006

I discovered Giacomo's a little over a year ago and was happy to see the owners greeting us and cooking our meal. I could not believe the value! Value is hard to find at restaurants anymore. I get fresh food and prompt, polite service everytime. The restaurant is smaller than most, which results in an attentive waitstaff. The servers are very knowledgable about the ingredients and the preparation of what they serve. It is similar to going to someones home for dinner. Pros: ValueValueValue, Consistency, Fresh Food more

Easy to talk 2/9/2005

Great little restaurant with an amazing cook. I've been here several times and I always feel like family since this resturant is small and cozy. You get top quality service and food with this establishment. When you are finished eating you can even stop in and say, ""HI"" to Giacomo himself who does the cooking. So, if you are looking for a loud resturant with TV's in your face and a wait to get in the door (even if you have reservations) this may not be the place for you. Perfect place for an intimate evening with that someone special in your life. Thanks again Giacomos for making another perfect evening without feeling like I got robbed at the end. John Rogers (Bloomingdale) Pros: Service, Food, Price more

Perfect!!! 1/3/2005

This ""ristorante"" is my new favorite place for Italian. A friend recomended it, and now I thank him every time I see him. (I think he's getting tired of it) I think I've tried everything on the menu by now. Pros: Amazing Food, Courteous Staff, Great Specials Cons: , Too Friendly more

Didn't believe the hype... 8/12/2003

I read about this restaurant in the ""best of"" section of this site. Thought, ""never heard of it, I'll try it"". We went a few weeks ago on a Friday night, and there was a little wait, but it was well worth it. They always say, ""a sign of a good restaurant is how busy they are"". Well, the food explains the wait. I'll make reservations next time, simple as that. Pros: Lasagne, Wine, Service Cons: Need reservations more

Our Favorite Place 7/26/2003

This is our favorite resturant. My son loves it and this is the only ""adult"" type resturant he begs to go to. The Owner Anna always gives us personalized attnention. You can have a romantic dinner here or bring the family and have a good time. The Gnocci is excellent and so is the Veal. The chocolate cake is like heaven, it is very rich and moist. You have to eat here to really understand how great it is. Pros: Great Food, Authentic, EXCELLENT SERVICE more
