Best

We first came August of 2007 -recommended by one of my co-workers. My husband and I loved it! The food, especially the seafood, is fresh and mouth watering. We came to Plymouth...

Worst

Went on a date here, not the best place to go for a date but thats ok. It smelled amazing inside but the food didn't match the smell. The calamari was chewy=overcooked. My ceasar ...

Good value for authentic Italian food 3/5/2010

I went here a few years ago, and remember being underwhelmed in comparison to how long I had to wait to get inside. The food was definitely good - not specifically memorable, although the gnocchi was fantastic. And for no more than $15 an entree, it's a good value for a nice, hearty Italian meal. However, the ambience failed to impress me - the tables were packed in too tight, and they weren't dressed up or anything. Pros: Large portions, good food, not too expensive Cons: Ambience, wait service more

ALL BLOW AND NO SHOW!!!! 1/11/2010

I have heard alot of hype about this place since moving here. In the summer, there are always lines out the door so I waited until the winter to check it out. This place is all blow and no show!!! The ""fresh pasta"" is not so freash. I can make better at home! There are many other hidden places in the North End that are far superior that Giacomo's. I will not be going back. Dont waste your time!!! Leave it for the tourists! Pros: fast food Cons: the food more

Scrumptious 8/19/2009

We first came August of 2007 -recommended by one of my co-workers. My husband and I loved it! The food, especially the seafood, is fresh and mouth watering. We came to Plymouth this past weekend (8/14/09) and had to drive here for dinner. We could not pass it up! As usual the Zuppa di pesce for two with the wine was out of this world! We'll be back! Pros: Best Seafood ever Cons: Waiting on line - but worth it more

Fast Service Sloppy Preperation 8/14/2009

Went on a date here, not the best place to go for a date but thats ok. It smelled amazing inside but the food didn't match the smell. The calamari was chewy=overcooked. My ceasar salad was douced in dressing and my main course had a strange B.O like flavor it was a special and I thought it was going to be way better. I asked if the sauce was light or heavy and the waitress said it was light but it wasnt . Wasnt a fan. Some good things about the restaurant were that it was quick and the waitresses were not about BS and savoring the moment. Pros: Quick, Well Priced Cons: Sloppy, over seasoned more

Yummy Italian 3/19/2009

I have only been to the location in the Southend and from what I hear it is the better of the two in regards to crowds. Excellent food, cheap prices. Wait Staff is extremely busy and would rather not chat during peak hours. I would highly reccomend. Pros: Great Quality Food; Cheap meal, large portions Cons: Crowded, No Credit Cards, No frills wait staff more

This Place is Fun and and icon of Boston! 2/17/2009

How much fun was this? We waited in line for 1/2 hour, then all those ahead of us were taken in., We were then, the next in line for the second service. We waited 45 min. more making friends of others standing in line all anticipating what this Restaurant has to offer. This was the second trip to Boston my husband had made and when I came This was the only place he said we MUST go. We looked at menu outside and knew what we wanted as soon as our buns got the seat.....mouth watering the whole time.\r When we finally ushered in our table was actually the end cap of the Bar. We had a ring side seat to the kitchen.. This place moves very quickly, our food was up and ready in a flash... it was also the biggest platter of pasta and Seafood with lobster I have ever seen. We were Not rushed to eat.. service was just as expected, food was quality and wonderful, at the best prices in Boston. Go have fun! its worth it. Pros: Delicious, a true experience, high paced Cons: Fast, not a slow romantic dinner unless you love to eat delicious food more

Fight the hype... 2/14/2009

Way too much hype over this little spot. First, the entire experience is rushed. You can hardly sit down before they're asking for your order. Good menu selection (they push their seafood). Food is fair; ceaser salad is pretty good. No dessert but shouldn't be a problem with Mike's Pastries down the street. Reasonably priced, but they only accept cash. Overall fight the hype. more

BEST ITALIAN FOOD 2/6/2009

The best Italian restaurant in the US! not just Boston.... the only place my family and I go when we make a trip to Boston. Well worth the wait. more

delicious 2/3/2009

the menu is on a chalkboard and it's really cozy. After waiting in the long line we we sat at a table and had great waitstaff that really treated us well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant just be prepared for a long line on Hanover Street. Pros: the food is fantatstic and the servings are huge Cons: it's a small place and the line can be long more

Good food, a little too much hype 1/14/2009

Great food, but overall I was underwhelmed. Better italian can be had in the North End, for sure... more

OUTSTANDING!!! 1/6/2009

My wife and I absolutely LOVE the food! The waitstaff is friendly and always running around doing whatever they can...It is so much better than the places with the big names, and VERY reasonably priced. The portions are huge, and the sauces are second to none. Avoid the big facny places with their small portions, Giacomo's is the place to go!!! more

Stay Away 12/18/2008

Just came from here. This place is not as great as everyone has said. I got the wrong order and they still charged me for the meal with now replacement. Stay Away! There are better places than this hole in the wall. LL Cons: Everything more

Pumpkin Tortellin - Awesome - Great Service (Donna was the terrific!) 6/2/2008

Had a mozzarella appetizer. It was really great. 3 slabs of crispy fried cheese - YUM! Then the pumpkin tortellini. Normally, not a fan of pumpkin, but this dish was so light with a subtle sweet pumpkin flavor. Waited in line for 30 minutes on a Monday night, but the weather was great and there was nice people to talk to in line. The server was super too! Highly recommend this place! Pros: Service - Really fast and friendly Cons: Can't think of one more

BUTTERNUT SQUASH RAVIOLI...NUF SAID! 11/28/2007

But i'll go on about how great this place is. Given the fact that there is a line all year (even for the locals) it is well worth it. If you go, without a doubt, try the butternut squash ravioli. They are incredible. Get them as an appetizer and share with the table. You cannot go wrong here. The Caprese is fresh and the Bufalo Mozzerella is great. I usually get the chicken Marsala because it is the best Marsala sauce i have ever had. There is no doubt you'll have to wait in line, but the quality and authenticity of the food, matched with the inexpensive prices, makes this the best Italian restaurant in Boston. Hands down! Pros: Everything but the wait, but even that isn't bad. Cons: The wait. more

Best Italian 8/21/2007

My wife and I go here for Italian all the time. I recommend their fra diavola sauce... so tasty. Also, I always get the seafood combo pasta dish for only $19. Service can be slow, but thats because it is very busy. They take reservations! I highly recommend this place. Pros: Fresh seafood Cons: service can be slow more

Amazing food! 8/15/2007

I visited Boston for the first time last weekend and a friend recommend Giacomo's in the North End. It is very small but rather lively. We went late, around 9:30 on a Friday night so we didn't have to wait. The service was great but the food...We ordered the calamari, which was fantastic. I had the lobster ravioli and I must say it is in the top 3 best dinners that I have ever had! Dinner for 2 with appetizers and wine was $45 so it was very reasonably priced, although I would have gladly paid $200 for this meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of great Italian. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Very small more
