I HAVE A VERY GOOD EXPERIANCE BY DEALING WITH THIS SHOP. I CAME DIRECTELY FROM MBI MOTORS INC, TO ASK IF THEY CAN COMPLETE A JOB. THEY GLADLY LISTENED TO MY STORY WHAT HAPPENED AT...

I'll preface this by saying they had done good work for me once before. That said, I will never take my car there again. They did some electrical work on my 240D and were ve...

Repair price are way over prized 4/8/2010

I took my BMW to this shop and was quoted repair prices for each of the items that needs to be taken care of it. When I finally wanted to pick up the car the bill was almost $1000 higher. You draw your own conclusion. Update: German Formula refused to accept payment via credit card and demanded cash instead. Cons: Too expensive more

Trusted for almost 2 decades 12/30/2009

What can I say about German Formula except AWESOME! I have been taking my BMWs to them for almost 2 decades. First a 5 Series, then a 7 Series and now a 3 Series. They are always fair, honest, professional and get it done right the first time. Over the years, they have actually SAVED me money by catching things that were close to needing repair as well as...and more importantly...NOT repairing things that were fine just because they could. Ralf runs a great shop and the remodel he is going through right now is top notch. The interior will really match the beautiful exterior when he's done. Brooke at the front is fantastic, the guys in the shop are awesome and Luke in the body shop is a master. Luke recently completed work on my Jeep Grand Cherokee that was spot on perfect. He works great with your insurance company to get you what you need and put your ride back to BETTER than before. As long as I own a BMW, they will be the only shop in town to get my business. And now that Roman is back from his sojourn working on Ferraris, Lambos, Spykers, Astin Martins and other exotics, Ralf has the A-Team. Don't be a fool...trust your ride to German Formula. Pros: Only place to have your German car serviced more

honesty and common sense 8/17/2009

My C230 was clunking when I stopped - another garage in town actually asked me how much gas I had in my tank when it made the noise, as if it was gasoline sloshing... they couldn't even find the problem. Ralf's team at GF diagnosed the problem in about 30 minutes - my transmission is worn out. Not only were they efficient, but they told me about an option that would save me money and buy time until I am ready to have it rebuilt (drive in the winter setting). Very cool. When I finally do have to have it rebuilt, you can bet I'm letting these guys do the work. Pros: cost, knowledge, quality more

Great service, great work. 6/12/2009

I've had a bunch of work done with both Bart and Luke, and every time its been exceptional. I recently had to replace the hood on my '97 Volvo, and Luke was great about looking for the best and cheapest parts, going out out his way to get me good prices, and doing a fantastic job of putting everything back together. The car looks like new, and most importantly, I've had no further problems with it. Having dealt with larger shops and dealerships in the past, I'm certain that German Formula is my shop in Portland. These guys are honest, they know what they're doing, and they are definitely who I trust to be working on my car. Highly recommended. Pros: professional service, great team Cons: no Snapple machine more

Is pefection possible for a shop? 5/16/2009

This shop is consistently so good for the past three years, I feel personally obligated to give them a good word. What are my major fears when getting Volkswagen repaired by the DEALER? 1. They'll be rude and not listen to requests (i.e. they take my business for granted) 2. They do poor quality work. 3. They charge a FORTUNE! 4. The lube boys steal my car off the lot and go for a joy ride. How is German Formula different? 1. They are always nice and listen to your needs carefully. 2. They are qualified. They even show you exactly what they did with your own eyes. 3. Their prices are fantastic. I saved over 50% compared to what the dealer just quoted me (I called afterwards just to compare). 4. They give you a better selection of parts. If they don't have exactly the brand you want, they will order it and have it there the next day. 5. They respect your property. I have never thought twice about leaving my car with them. The people there are mature and respectful. The girl at the front desk is so nice! Pros: Quality work, professional staff & good prices. Cons: Parking? more

Done when they said it would be, decent work 3/10/2009

Just replaced front air springs (dyi) on my '03 Audi allroad and needed to have the allignment done. Found German Formula on city search and decided to give them a try based on the reviews. After my visit I would say that the reviews here seem to be mostly accurate. The office person, Brook, is very nice; they seem to do good work; they serviced my car the same day I called to inquire; and they were done when they said they would be. Pros: no wait for an appointment, friendly, I would recomend them Cons: just a few small things more

After my visit I would say that the reviews here seem to be mostly accurate. The office person, Brook, is very nice; they seem to do good work; they serviced my car the same day I called to inquire; and they were done when they said they would be. \r \r I do have a couple of objections though. 1. They sent my car to be serviced be an outside alignment shop without telling me upfront. (I am very uncomfortable with people working on my car unless I know/trust them and can watch. I know this personality trait is not conducive to having a shop do work.but it gets even worse when I can't even see the facility doing the job.) 2. They underestimated their cost of the outsourced work and asked to pass that extra cost on to me. The 4 wheel alignmet was quoted at $80 and they asked me to pay $95 after it was done. However, they were willing to honor the quoted price without any mess or fuss, so I got my car back for the $80 agreed on. 3. The steering wheel is not quite centered when driving a straight line. It is only off by a degree or two; I didn't even notice it until I was halfway home, and it is minor enough that I am not even sure if i will be taking it back to be re-done. I'll give it a couple of days to see if it actually bothers me.\r \r Overall, I think that I will be returning to German Formula for future work that is beyond my dyi skill level. Though I will ask if they will be doing the work or outsourcing it. Like all auto-shops they are a business and there to make a proffit (so trust them as far as you are willing to) but German Formula does not seem like one of ""THOSE"" shops that needs to avoided at all costs. I would recomend them to a friend. Pros: no wait for an appointment, friendly, I would recomend them Cons: just a few small things more

Highly Recommended!! 12/14/2008

I just moved to Portland and had some damage to my car from towing it across country. I called German Formula and asked about an appointment. They had me drop my car off that day and had it ready the next. Everyone was very nice and professional. Their costs were very reasonable and much less than the dealership. I will not take my car anywhere else! Pros: very friendly, low prices more
