Love the store, selections and environment....not too sure about the integrity of the some of the staff when it comes to sales and specifics of the products. I can understand as a buyer being naive about certain things, however I would hope that even in aspects of getting a sale the person selling can be upfront about whats being sold. \r \r Example; we purchased a sealed MtG deckbox that included the matching sleeves for less than $20 that was apparently some promotional bundle that had a sealed insert to ""Enter for a chance to win MtG: RARE Power 9 Gaming Cards!"". Cool eh? Well the store clerk really worked the sale and idea by insisting to buy the full bundle based on the included contest incentive vs a couple of sleeve packs and a separate deckbox and the price of the bundle vs separate sleeves and deckbox is about the same but regardless, we bought the bundle based on the hype the store clerk pushed so we bought the bundle got home and opened it (no didnt open it in store, didnt think was a need to at the time based on why it was bought) and to our demise, the contest was apparently one that UltraPro launched from 2008 and was long since expired???? \r \r Now you would think that the store rep(s) who seem extremely knowledgable in the cards and all would have already known this (maybe they knew or maybe they didnt) but regardless is it our fault for not knowing this contest was already over? Was the store rep just trying to clear out older inventory and took advantage of the fact of that 1% of our not knowing? We sure didnt go in there with the ""buyer beware"" attitude as we have shopped there before and used their store for items, playing cards etc and felt comfortable in being able to utitlize their business and rely on them for honesty vs reproach in their sales and advice. \r \r Folks, this is a comics/cards/collectibles store and we are not shopping at a used car lot so I would hope in the collective mindset of ""nerds"" (yes I am one) and such we all try to help one another, so again...love the store, selections and environment, not so sure can trust some of the staff anymore when it comes to sales/product advice. Anyhow, my $0.02. more

Why bother, some products they sell here they will sell to you at a certain price only if you shop there regularly, take for example from the vault realms they will sell the set to you for 40 if you shop there or play FNM there, but i you don't it's 100 that's like charging more just because someone is black. more

If you see this review in other search sites, it's because I am too lazy to write the same thing with small changes several times. I am a regular customer, with a pull list at Generation X. I also use them for all my gaming purchases which includes Warhammer 40K, Pathfinder RPG, and so many more that it will make me seem like an even bigger arch-nerd than I want to admit. I have a great opinion about this store because they provide me excellent, if sharp witted service. Being a fan of dry humor will help you. If have a pretty good idea what I want, and describe it to the staff, they can help me find. It is easy to find gifts, if you describe your friend/relatives interest, they can locate something for you. They occasionally make fun of me for a selection, but it has always been taken and intended as humor. These are entertainment products, so I it is hard to take oneself to seriously if you are asking for back issues of ""Nancy In Hell"" because you forgot to put it on your pull list. If you have developed a relationship with them as a customer, they will incoming items or special order items and hold them for you at no additional cost. If you think the purpose of a comic and game store is to be a public comic and game library, this may not be the place for you. The things you read front to back are merchandise and how these guys pay their bills. The same for buying comics, they know the market, know the values, but will still have to buy these things at a price that will make them money. If you brag about buying all of your things on-line, you will be instantly hated, because you are the type of consumer that is killing that kind of business. I have seen other customers upset here, but it is typically because they aren't thinking outside of themselves at all. The rest of us are very loyal, and over time anyone would be. Is the place perfect? No, They have removed walls and expanding the gaming area, but with weekend crowds it can still be hard to get a space. The staff is often pulled in many directions at once and large pull customers with 10-100 books can be reviewing each title at the cash register, meaning a bit of line can form , which can be a pain if you are in a hurry. They have had issues with shoplifting, which means they have to send people roaming to watch instead of being able to direct you to what you need or ask about dates/availability/orders. So, for the long term nerd hobbyist, comics, games or just the never ending array of junk acts as a cry for help in our sad lifestyle, this place is invaluable. Over the years, these guys have not only been the pushers for my geek jones, but they have become friends, and they earn our support by the great job they do. more

GEN X 1/13/2012

This is a great store with a wonderful selection of Roleplaying games, comics and other items. The staff that i have encountered here have always been very helpful. Ive lived all over the US and ive been to alot of diffrent game shops and this one ranks right up there. Definatlly the best game shop in this area. more

Gen X is a fantastic store 4/30/2011

I've heard some negative comments on this forum. But I'm here to tell you, they simply don't hold water for me. I'm in this shop weekly. My movie collection has expanded exponentially since I discovered they sell DVDs for $3. I took a friend's kids in one day, and the 11 year-old girl immediately went to the anime section, pulled a book, sat on the floor and started to read. I was in the process of explaining to her that this wasn't a library, and she wasn't supposed to do that, when the man on duty cheerfully corrected me. ""That's perfectly alright, my friend."", he stated. He had absolutely no problem with the girl reading merchandise she clearly couldn't buy. They're usually willing to make deals on collectibles, and are very knowledgeable on their subject matter. more

Terrible. 3/9/2011

Everytime I have been there with the owner there it has been a terrible experience he rushes you out the store and freaks out if you drop a plastic figurine not a metal one less than a foot. The other man is quite nice and funny. Still this man makes me not wanna shop there. more

Great Store! 9/5/2010

After reading some of the negative comments, I wanted to say that I've been shopping at this store on and off for years, and have never experienced the negative customer service experience that some reviewers are describing. The staff (the two regulars that work there) have always been personable, knowledgeable, and ready to assist me with anything I've needed. I've purchased comics, games, and gaming supplies there and have never been disappointed. Also played RPGA D&D there spanning several months and never had a bad experience. The short of it is... Great store with a great selection! You won't find a store like this anywhere close to this area. Go there! more

Wow ... what a jerk 7/7/2010

Certainly people are allowed to have their own personalities but when I go into a store I expect someone that wants me to buy merchandise from them to have at the very least a civil attitude. This person (who I assume is the owner of the establishment) can only be described charitably as rude and ""abrasive"" . He is in my opinion a angry person that wants to share his misery . I would in the strongest terms recommend against dealing with this store , There are many other outlets that want to earn a customer's business and loyalty and not chase folks out the door Pros: good selection Cons: RUDE and abrasive shopkeeper more

I shop there due to convenience. 5/25/2010

To be fair, I have only shopped here a handful of times, and each lasted less than twenty minutes, but the service here is somewhat surprising. The selection of the store is rather impressive. I'm not an avid comic reader, but from what I saw, and from other reviews, their selection is good, if not great. What I shop for there is Flames of War. This is the closest store that I've found carrying it which makes it the most convenient place to shop. Of this non-mainstream tabletop game, they have a large selection of miniatures. The problem is the only person I've ever seen work there. The first time I came to his store he was aloof and uninterested in the only customer at the time. Understandable, but still somewhat poor customer service. The second was much the same, but the third time I brought a friend who was interested in starting an army. This guy was unbelievably condescending, suggesting that not only was the army I used crap, but the whole game was crap. He made it clear he hated the game and never played it. To stock so much product for a game that you hate and try to talk customers out of buying seems like an odd choice to me. If I had anywhere closer to get what I need, I would shop there instead in a heartbeat. All in all, great selection, reprehensible customer service. Pros: Excellent selection. Cons: Poor service more
