I went to this place on a wed and wathced a live band had drinks and food. Fun vibe good food and strong drinks. What more do you need, Pleanty of space too.

Worst

I've been here twice on Saturday nights and all I have to say is that the bar is awful. Everytime I've ordered Jack Daniels, they pour me Jim Beam...in a Jack bottle. Now I know ...

But the food is good. Everything is good. But as a hip surfer type dude, I can't get too into the corporate scene... But it still works. Bottom line: You'll dig it. more

Phenomenal atmosphere, food and wine list 8/16/2010

I was so surprised to find the quality of food and their wine list to be so extensive. My friends swear by this place and their amazing weekends of football. I went for the first time and will be back for dinner. more

Great Food! 11/19/2009

Went with some friends on Thursday, and really enjoyed myself. The food was really startlingly good. I had the pulled pork sandwhich, it was awesome. The drinks were reasonably priced and full of alcohol, which i like. So, all in all? Great place to get a drink and some really good food. The sliders are really good too. The cover band was pretty talented and livened up the mood nicely. I would recommend this to anyone living in Long beach as nice place to party or just get some grindage. Pros: Really good food, especially for a bar Cons: A little dark, but not that big of a deal more

GREAT FOOD! GREAT SERVICE! GREAT MUSIC! GREAT PRICES!? 11/19/2009

My friends and I went on a Thursday night to check out the food and the live performance of The Thugs - we were thoroughly impressed. The music was awesome, the atmosphere was casual, the drinks were STIFF, the food was great (got the sliders + fries - thumbs up!), and the prices were right. The crowd was varied, from early 20s to a few old timers. All of them seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also, take some of the earlier negative reviews with a grain of salt. The Gaslamp is under new ownership/management as of November, 2009, which may explain why my friends and I didn't observe any of the negative experiences as described by earlier reviews. We honestly had a great time from start to finish. Give this place a try if you are looking for a night of great food/drinks, great service, great value, and great live music with your friends. It's too bad... 8/29/2009

The fact that this place has never been raided is an indication of how paid off everyone might be. The menu and kitchen are a sincere effort, but the questionable 'services' this place promotes are alarming and underworldly . The arrogance of the security staff makes me consider that organized crime is NOT on the decline! Oh well, that's life in the USA i guess... I would NOT recommend this place to any respectable or law abiding citizen or family! Pros: decent food! Cons: too many underworld dealings. more

food was all right. and prices were kind of high for me... might be affordable to others though. servers weren't too friendly, unless it was just the one we got. i still do recommend gaslamp... but just like other restaurants, there are pros and cons... Scam 1/25/2009

I've been here twice on Saturday nights and all I have to say is that the bar is awful. Everytime I've ordered Jack Daniels, they pour me Jim Beam...in a Jack bottle. Now I know that the times are hard right now but that is just unacceptable. You can't fill a different liquor into another bottle and expect me to be happy with that. more

Always have a good time 11/4/2008

I live not too far from the Gaslamp (about 10 minutes north) and I've been in a few times now and always have a good experience. I've had a few different dinners. My present favorite is the blackened swordfish. I've been on a seafood kick lately and also love King's. This is comparable to their dishes I think. It came with rice and veggies and it was all really well prepared. I also enjoy the margaritas there (my drink of choice). And I was in for a happy hour recently and it was only $2.75! That's pretty hard to beat. I've also been to a couple of the wine tastings on Thursdays (trying to graduate from the margaritas for dinner). The hostess is super friendly and informative. And either the pours are pretty generous, or she was flirting with me. Either way, it was cool. I'm in my late 30s, dine out regularly, and feel totally comfortable highly recommending the Gaslamp. Everybody I've encountered has been totally welcoming and friendly and the food and drinks have been really good. Not to be too gay or anything, but there's a really nice vibe in the place. Worst Food, Service I've Ever Had 10/19/2008

First, the service was terrible. The waitress was rude and did nothing to make our night pleasant. She was short with us, slow, inaccurate with the orders and somehow seemed unapologetic about it all. The food was downright terrible, almost inedible. My friend returned her "pesto" pasta dish because it was basically plain noodles. I sat right next to her and couldn't even see any pesto at all. I had the steak, bad call. First the waitress came and asked who got the salad like she didn't know who ordered what. I said I did. She looked at it and said "you had Ranch?", I said "No Blue Cheese" and she handed me the salad anyway. Nice. The steak was rubbery, the plain white rice was crunchy like it was scrapped from the side of the pan and the veggies were soggy and cold. Never got my last drink that I ordered either. Now, I've heard from some reviewers say don't go to a bar for a dinner. But when the place advertises itself as a restaurant what should I expect? The whole scene sucked and I'll never go back. BTW-It's unfortunate that a good, fun band like Knight Rider played at this dump. They really need a new gig. Pros: None. Cons: Food is awful, terrible service and the place has that "filthy" feel to it. more

LOVING FRIDAY NIGHTS AT THE GASLAMP! 2/15/2007

Friday nights are totally awesome at the gaslamp with great 80s cover band Knyght Ryder, they rock! I love the atmosphere and the people are layed back and REAL you won't find any possers here just real people looking to have a good time! The only negative about this place is if you have dinner be prepared to wait over an hour for it! it wasn't even good and part of my meal was cold and it's quite expensive. Awesome restaurant and great food. 9/7/2006

I don't get it. The last reviewer must have no taste. That is the only way to account for him liking Yankee Doodle's over the Gaslamp. Sad!! My husband and I found The Gaslamp through our miles program. I had actually driven by a few times and had never been in. This place has come a long way since the old "LB" times. It has a great casual ambiance and the staff were all really friendly. My husband had the NY steak and would not share it - he liked it so much. I had the Gaslamp Burger which is a great guilty pleasure. I did order vegetables instead of fries and they were perfectly cooked. I ordered the molten chocolate cake for dessert and my husband had the cream brulee. Our server told me they make all of the desserts from scratch and I can tell you that they were awesome. The chocolate cake was definitely worth the wait. They have cool flyers on the table advertising all of their food specials and entertainment. They had a wine tasting going on while we were there and we will be back to check that out next Thursday. Pros: Food, ambiance, romantic booths more

I was really dissapointed with this place. They advertise gourmet food, it wasn't and took forever to get. Atmosphere was a little strange - kinda seems like they're trying to transition to a night club - the crowd is starting to look a little scary, not like when they first opened. I can see it now - Live Bait all over again! Save your money and go to Yankee Doodles or 2nd street if you don't mind walking. Pros: good parking Cons: Bizzare atmosphere, scary crowd more

A Fabulous Evening 5/14/2006

We stopped in for happy hour and had drinks and apps on the patio. The food, drinks and atmosphere were all excellent. We ended up staying for dinner, and were not disappointed. We tried the burgers, and they were even better than we had expected. We were still there when the band came in and they were awesome. This is a great place to take a date, or to spend an evening with friends. We will definitely go back often. Pros: Excellent service, Plenty of parking, Great music more

Why did this restaurant get such good reviews? 5/8/2006

The food here was only OK. I would have much rathered a pizza from CPK or a burger from Claim Jumper's; both are right down the street, the same price and much higher quality. My meal was around Denny's/Carrows quality. Nothing to get excited about. It seems like the previous posters didn't even try the food, they just Gawked over the waitress. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for eating... more

Great Date Venue. Especially on Fridays 4/10/2006

The staff at the Gaslamp is the friendliest I have encountered. The food is tasty. I've had the Balsamic Chicken several times and it's great every time. On Fridays they have a great 80s band called Knyght Ryder that plays. Great sound system and lights. Like a mini-concert for free. It ends up being packed with what appears to be tons of extras from the O.C. tv show. Let's just say the crowd and staff are easy on the eyes. Perfection 4/9/2006

The food and enviroment is excellent making the experience wonderful. The staff (lovely waitresses and delightful/EXPERIENCED bartenders) make u feel very welcome. Outstanding food 4/6/2006

The menu has changed since my visit last year. The food now is excellent, and reasonably priced. The entertainment is really good. Everyone there seems to have a great time.
