Service and food were awesome.

If you're here on your beach vacation, skip Gaido's and head to Benno's down the street. It has better food, it's half the price and very casual. Drive by Gaido's for a gander at ...

Even employees love food at Gaidos!!! 11/24/2002

I have lived in Galveston my whole life and have always loved Gaido's food. After having the chance to work there, I've found that Gaidos does serve their food fresh everyday. The cooks even go so far as to cut the ""fishy taste"" (fat) off the fish before they cook them for you, a luxury provided by only a select few restaurants. Gaidos has great food and great service. They stay busy almost year round. Even off season, there is sometimes a wait. You can look at having to wait as a bad thing but I take it to mean that the food must be good and the people can't stay away. But don't knock it til you try it. Gaidos is great and I don't know of any employees who would say that about the place that they work in food service. Pros: Great service, Good food & selection, Classy or Casual Cons: tad bit pricy, sometimes a wait more

Seafood Delight 10/26/2002

Gaido's Red Snapper stuffed with lump crabmeat au gratin is the best seafood entree I have ever had in the USA an dthe Pelican Club has some of the best service I have ever ejnoyed. Congratulations to the Gaido family from a former neighbor on Q 1/2 Street in Galveston, Victor E. Braud, III. Pros: Location, Attitude, Consistency more

Stay Away 9/28/2002

Stay Away!!! The fried shrimp are better at Long John Silvers!!! The fried shrimp at Gaiddo's were obviously frozen from a bag and tasteless. The blackened shrimp were soggy. The shrimp bisque was bland. AuGratin Potatoes were just thrown on the plate and mine had too much paprika sprinkled on them. Besides being disappointed with the food, we were also annoyed with the loud children running around. If you want a quiet, wonderful dinner, avoid Gaido's. Cons: Bad Food more

Sadly Disappointed 8/26/2002

For YEARS, I have heard such good things about this place and have been looking forward to trying it out. I finally got the opportunity for a Sunday lunch and was sadly disappointed. The food was average (and this is me being generous in my description). If you have been dying to try the place, stop in and give it a shot. But I think once you mark it off your list, you will not go back. Just don't go for a special occasion. Sadly, I believe this place, unless there are some drastic changes, is past its prime. more

REALLY? 8/13/2002

IVE NEVER HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT GAIDOS. PLACE IS ALWAYS SO BUSY THAT WAITERS CANT KEEP UP. WAITERS ARE SO BUSY THAT THEY HAVE USED FOWL LANGUAGE AROUND CUSTOMERS TWO TIMES IVE BEEN THERE. FOOD TAKES AT LEAST 45MIN TO 1 HOUR. AND IS OVERPRICED. 10.00 DOLLARS FOR CRAB TOPPING? OVER THE 25 DOLLARS FOR A FILET OF RED SNAPPER THATS DRY IN THE FIRST PLACE? SORRY BUT PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON THE ISLAND AVOID more

Fresh 8/13/2002

The food is fresh, the restaurant is family owned and the Gaido's pay special attention to Galvestonians, which is what we want. We don't have to wait in long lines to get a seat as we support Gaido's year-round, while tourists are only here during the summer. The personal service that the Gaido family gives the locals is what makes Gaido's the BEST restaurant in Galveston, Texas more

Simply The Best 8/8/2002

Gaido's is amazing. I have been to Gaido's twice. The first time, I enjoyed it so much that the next time I took my husband, our son (who was 7) and another friend. We got there early, and were seated. No Wait at all. The service was amazing. Our waiter spent 3 1/2 hours with us and took great care of his other tables. Eating was like being in heaven. We all had something different and were sharing and tasting. None of us finished our meals. When you first look at the menu the prices are a bit high, but it is seafood in a tourist town. Then you get the food, and you understand. The plates are huge and the food barely fits on them. The oceanview was like a scene from a postcard, waves washing up on the shore, the changing clolors of the sky. Just Beautiful! Pros: excellent food, wait staff amazing, view breathtaking Cons: there are no cons more

Five Star 7/26/2002

I put myself through college as a waiter here in the early 90s. Every time I return to TX, I try my best to make it down for some iced crab claws (my wife's favorite) and snapper sapporito with lump crab meat topping. Incredible! The bread is baked daily (try pepperjack) and the house salad dressing (oil and vinegar blue cheese) is excellent. It's expensive for the area but darn good. Pros: tasty, fresh Cons: spendy more

Excellent seafood dining 7/3/2002

It's amazing how the chef can keep up with the demand , most really good seafood restaurants that are this busy exchange quality for fast food to keep the green rolling . Everything has that just prepared taste with nicely dressed wait staff attending to your every whim . Cons: Parking, crowded more
