The food at this place is very good to say the least. However, it's pretty embarassing for an authentic Italian restaurant to not have a clue on how to make a cappuccino =( My mother and I both had their capps at the end of our meal and the espresso was not good, and there was barely any foam!!! A cappuccino is half milk and half foam poured into a cup!! I worked for a famous coffee house for 2 years and def know my cappuccinos!! The service wasn't good either...the server Jessica had a very sarcastic/ snotty attitude which did not deserve a restaurant a good rating. Overall, the food is delicious...but the service and the espresso drinks definetly need to be improved. more

This is our go to restaurant for eveything. We go here for special occasions, when family comes to town or just to get a bite to eat. The staff is amazing! Each and every one of them treats you like they know you personally. The food has always been great. They offer a different drink special every month which have always been very tasty. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dijon crusted halibut, calimari appetizer, cesar salad and lemon cake. They make an amazing dirty martini. Friday and Saturday music is a nice touch. This is the best place I've been to. The staff was friendly but not overbearing--like they really wanted you to have a good experience and wanted to reflect positively on the place. We were seated at the bar while our table was being set up and had some pretty good wine from a decent list along with a quick appetizer. I wouldn't mind going there just for drinks. The atmosphere was smooth and calming and the piano player was fantastic--nothing cheesy about it! Speaking of cheesy, the food was so good I didn't want to stop eating it. I really enjoyed the bread and olive oil set out on the table, and the ravioli I ordered is something I still dream about. Quite a gem this place is! more

I love going to this restaurant! The food is very authentic italian. My personal favorites are the veal picatta and the lasagna, although I know oftentimes my companions get the chicken parmigiana. There is also a full bar and lots of different wines to taste. During the week they have great deals like family dinner nights and sometimes even a wine tasting night where you get a different glass of wine with each meal. Besides the food the service is the best part about the restuarant. Everyone is so friendly and the owners spend the time to make everyone in the restaurant feel like they are personal friends. I've been to Geatanos many times and I'll go many many more. Pros: Great location if you want to go dinner and a movie. more

I've been to some good italian restaurants in my day, but this one ranks near the top! The first thing that I noticed about the restaurant was that it had a warm, friendly feeling, not intimidating or trendy like some of the Hollywood or Downtown LA italian places. This had a very down-to-earth, yet upbeat vibe to it. The place was relatively crowded for a Wednesday night, but the hostess was very friendly and my date and I were seated immediately. The menu had a nice variety of authentic italian dishes, and the drink and wine lists were not too shabby either! I had the chicken marsala and my date had the penne asparagi. Wow, was I impressed with both the meal and the portion size for a very reasonable price. The chardonnay was excellent as well! Our waitress was very courteous and responsive, which I feel is very important in good food service. We both were incredibly pleased with our overall dining experience. If you're ever in the South Bay area, I would highly recommend Gaetano's. Pros: Great Overall! more

It's been a while since I've found such an intriquing Italian joint as Gaetanoes. Finally, I found a place with great service and quality food! I've now visited the restaurant multiple times and highly recommend the chicken parigiana, lasanga, and pizza. I also love the fact that it doesn't have the corporate/phony feeling such as an Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. Those places are equivalent to McDonalds with Italian food. My friends and family feel the same about Gaetanoes. Try it out. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: Only 1 location. more

The authentic Italian dishes here are awesome! I've tried several staple Italian dishes on the menu and every time, Gaetanos knocks it out of the park! From the home made raviolis to great steaks, and creative fish dishes, you can't miss here. My favorite is the dijon crusted halibut and their gorgonzola gnocchi. Amazing! This is NOT chain restaurant food. It's obvious that they take care in their preparation and are passionate about serving up authentic Italian recipes. Lunch sandwiches and salads are great to, big portions, and that home made feel. Prices are very reasonable especially for such great portions. This restaurant exudes a communal feeling. Friends meeting for dinner, families out together - all of whom the staff seems to know. Everyone is very nice at the restaurant, the ambience is very nice and the piano player fills the air with romance. However, sadly, I didn't find the pesto, the gnocchi, or the spaghetti bolognese to be very good. The veal parmigiania is alright, the spaghetti stefano that came with it is very good. The bread and wine is definitely good! All this said, I am getting ready to go back out there tonight. It is good food, just not the best - at least from what I've tried thus far. Seriously everyone, darn good Italian food and I'm a real Italian! This small but clean and cozy restaurant has a great ambiance and feel to it.
