The Best Pizza..PERIOD!!! 1/20/2010

I have been going to Gaby's Pizza all of my life. I can honestly say after eating Gaby's you will not want to eat Pizza Hut, Dominos or any of those other commercial pizza spots. The pizza that is prepared there is as fresh as can be. The sausage taste like sausage and it doesnt have that processed taste. For the 20 plus years I have been eating there I can honestly say that I have not once gotten sick. \r People who have come to visit me and my family from out of state have loved Gaby's Pizza. They always get upset that Gaby's is not where they live. Even if you look on Gaby's Facebook page, you will see people who use to live in the neighborhood and now live out of state saying how much they miss Gaby's. I brought my sister-in-law who lives in Tucson, Arizona to Gaby's, she loved it so much I have to have a pie shipped to her overnight.\r I look around this page and it really upsets me with how I see people are finding excuses of what's wrong with Gaby's food, the location, the staff or whatever they can find. If you have an issue with how the crust is made, just tell the staff how you like your crust and they will be glad enough to make it to your liking. That is part of the responsibility that goes along with being the Best Pizza in NY, making sure the customer is satisfied. \r I can go on for hours about Gaby's, in a nutshell don't listen to all of the negative remarks that have been posted, listen to someone who has been going to Gaby's since day one and who knows what GREAT PIZZA is all about! Pros: Great service, natural food, homeade taste Cons: I'm still trying to look for one! more

Gaby's Pizzeria the Best in the United States 12/7/2009

Gaby's Pizza is the best with numerous trophys displayed. I have flown all the way from Alaska to enjoy the pizza and today (Monday I am ordering two large pizza's (whole wheat) FROM NEW YORK TO ALASKA. They will ship and freeze the pizza for you. It will arrive on Wednesday. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the pizza. Alaska's pizza taste like half cooked 'sour dough' and gummy bread with fake cheese, (Alaska is not known for good food). I will never order any pizza from anywhere else in the world, except from Gaby's. I'm a vegetarian and Gaby's pizza is good for us vegans. GREAT JOB GABY, YOU HAVE A PERMANENT AND SATISFIED CUSTOMER. Pros: Good Service, Fast and Clean establishment Cons: Always crowded, always a line for service more

Vegans Not Welcome Here 8/27/2009

I bought garlic bread today at Gabiy's and took it home. The bread was good, so I ate it. By the time I almost finished it, i realized there was muzzarela cheese inside the bread.\r \r As a vegan, I have had to buy garlic bread at pizza and ilalian restaurants. I've had garlic bread in dozens of places around queens. But never before at Gaby's. No other place I've been to puts cheese in their garlic bread.\r \r I complained about this to Louis, the manager. He said everyone likes cheese in garlic bread. I said why not posta sign warning vegans? He hung up on me.\r \r if you're a vegan, stay away. Pros: free parking Cons: They put cheese in EVERYTHING! more

There is no pizza like Gaby's Pizzeria 3/7/2009

I have been living in southwest Florida for 12 years and all these places down here that say ""New York style pizza"" have nothing to what Gaby's have. Even though I prefer a fresh hot pizza but if Gaby's was to ever ship their pizza out of state...I will pay whatever the cost. They have best quality in food and loyalty to their customers. When I crave for pizza, it's a struggle to find which pizzeria can please that craving. Gaby's if you ever read these reviews...KEEP DOING A GREAT JOB AND I HOPE ONE DAY YOU CAN SHIP PIZZA OUT OF STATE! Pros: Everything. Cons: Parking. more

Simply The Best.. Better then all the Rest 1/12/2009

I've been coming to Gaby's for years and i cannot find one complaint from there. The service is outstanding and the Food is always fresh and consistent. Other Pizzaria's cannot even come close to the taste that Gabys has. Gabys truly is number ONE and that why i recommend it to everyone!!! Pros: Always Fresh more

Best In NY 1/3/2009

Gaby's Pizzeria is the best in New York. I live a good distance from the restaurant and I still find myself passing all these other pizza stores just to get to theirs. If you haven't tried Gaby's...what are you waiting for get over there.....VERY DELICIOUS Pros: DELICIOUS Cons: Usually packed in there so minor wait. more

Taste is nothing without service. 12/21/2008

The food is fine. BUT The service can be rude and snotty. All the male owners are wonderful and very friendly. However, there is a poor excuse for a lady who answers the phone on the weekends and she is very nasty. She has no patience and seems anything but happy for your business. So if you order on Sunday.. go in and pick it up. She's not worth your phone minutes. No matter how great the food is, if the help is hostile..its not a good experience. Pros: Taste Cons: Service, No where to sit. Nasty help. Looks Run Down. more

No comparison... 5/30/2008

To the person that compares Gaby's to Domino's Pizza - ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?! To compare Gaby's to Domino's is crazy! I live in Manhattan, but my husband used to live in Hollis. From the first time that I tasted Gaby's, I was truly hooked. There was only one other pizza place in Manhattan that tasted just as good and unfortunately they are no longer there. They were ""Pizza Town"" on Broadway and 114th street. Gaby's is by far great. I have never had a rude experience. The sauce on the pizza is sweet; the crust crispy (if you want it that way) or just right. Everytime we go visit my mother-in-law, we look at each other and ask 'Gaby's'? Hands down, they are fabulous. Pros: Delicious pizza, good service Cons: can't think of any... more

Reviewing the reviews.... 3/30/2008

i noticed a couple of bad reviews about Gaby's and im thinking... ""are you smoking something illegal?"" Gabys IS the best pizza anywhere. YES i grew up nearby and YES im biased but guess what? when people come and visit me from Cali, from Chicago and from Miami, not to mention my freinds from the 4 boroughs (i dont know any1 in staten isl.) and long island, they all agree its the best they've ever had. Most queens village/hollis residents will tell you there freinds from abroad visit them and the first thing they ask is ""can you take me to that pizzeria you took me to last time?"" NO, the slices are not mini, they are normal napolitan pizza size, like MOSt everywhere else. Some places in brooklyn make extra large slices (pies cut in 6 not 8) with flimsy crust and scarcely sprinkled cheese. (no disrespeect to brooklyn) but this is not the norm and not to be compared with truly tasty pizza. Yes, the sauce is sweeter than most and i think thats a good thing, but that really is a matter of personal preference. Anyone reading this review, i recomend ordering a sicilian slice (some of you know them as ""squares"") . i personally never liked sicilian slices except for Gaby's and there i cant get enough. Pros: great food, service, delivery, discount coupons Cons: theres only one location!!! more

Best Pizza I Have Ever Had 2/29/2008

This is the place my family used to get pizza at when I was little living in Jamacia, NY. Now that I live 4 hours away in upstate NY, when ever we come into the area we try to stop for the best pizza we have ever had. I have been living in upstate NY for over 20 years, and never have been able to find pizza nowhere near as good. Cons: Parking more

This is not AUTHENTIC ITALY! 12/30/2007

Look, I will be really honest. I grew up eating Gabys Pizza. been eating it for the last 20 years. I love everyone in the place, but however, It is not authentic Italian food. I thought it was good because I never eally had any other italian food before. I ordered chicken francese and it looked like marsala. The only good thing is the pizza. if even, the sauce is too sweet and any one that has eaten ""REAL"" italian food will tell you that this isnt it! Get out, eat more italian food an you will see! more

Gaby's Pizza is the best pizza in NYC!!!!!! 11/5/2007

I have been eating Gaby's pizza since I was a little girl. Thank goodness that I live in the neighborhood so I can enjoy this pizza everyday. Great service, great owners, great staff, great tasting pizza!!!!!!!!! I have never tasted pizza like this before anywhere else. The store is very spacious, many tables to sit at, very cozy. And they have the best dishes, like baked ziti, stuffed shells, chicken parm etc. I cant wait to finish work so I can have a slice today!!! Pros: I live across the street Cons: They dont have Italian Ices all year round more

Small neighborhood pizzeria hits the big times on the Rachel Ray show 10/11/2007

Small neighborhood pizzeria hits the big times on the Rachel Ray show. After seeing the great pizza cook off on the Rachel Ray show where consumers choice Gaby?s Pizza New York faced off with the best Chicago had to offer my curiosity was peaked. I live in Long Island and I love a great slice of pizza, who doesn?t. When I heard there?s a great pizza place within 30 minutes from me, I packed the kids to visit the Hollis Queens pizzeria. I ordered a large pie to stay and let me tell you as Judge Joe Brown said on the Rachel Ray show ??this pizza is outstanding?? and I agree the crust is thin and light, the cheese is the real thing and the sauce is absolutely delicious. The place is busy, the service quick and friendly. Down side, you just can?t eat one slice. You want great pastrami go to Kats, you want great pizza go to Gaby?s. more

horrible customer service and small portions 7/20/2007

after reading the wonderful reviews on citysearch and noticing the rachel ray approved sign posted outside of gaby's i decided that i would stop by. i ventured out of my brooklyn neighborhood to head out to gaby's and was extremely excited. i ordered 2 slices and an order of pasta. i ordered the pasta to go. the slices were small (think mini slices), and the crust was on the soggy side. if i were a local, this would be ok, but to treck from from brooklyn was really a waste of my time. there are numerous local pizza joints that are terrific without the treck and hassle. back to my order of pasta...i was told to come back for my pasta after my party finished their slices. after my party finished our slices and sodas i returned to the counter to pick up the order of pasta. i was given no reciept to claim it and as a result i was left standing there trying to get anyone of the staff members' (6 people behind the counter) attention to pick up my pasta. the original person who took my order simply ignored me. i thought that my pasta was not ready. when i finally got someone's attention it was on the counter all along (this left me extremely frustrated- i was standing there for 10 minutes) perhaps if you are a frequent customer you'll recieve great service, but if it's your first visit, you can forget about it. the poor service and the bursts of small crowds would have been worth it if the food was fantastic but sadly it wasn't. stick to you local pizza joints. Pros: if you just want pizza and are a local to jamaica it's may be worth a try Cons: if you don't live in the jamaica area, not worth a trip. horrible customer service, pizza slice was small and pricey more

Winner of the New York vs Chicago Pizza challenge on the Rachel Ray Show 4/26/2007

I live in Hollis and been going to Gabys for years. Even when i was in the military and came home I always took some lasagna or pizza back with me. Winning a competition out of all the pizzerias in NY and Chicago says it all. You have to try a slice. Pros: taste Cons: crowded especially after school more

Sub Par at Best???? 10/6/2006

User named 'washao'? you're review was far from the truth. And crowded parking lot? How much less crowded is Brooklyn on any weekend? \r \r Listen, If you find yourself in the Jamaica/Hollis area in Queens New York; more specifically if you find yourself on Hillside Avenue west of Francis Lewis Blvd, stop by Gaby's Pizzeria. I live in a small town on Long Island (not far from the Queens border), I find myself taking trips just for a plain slice. Sweet Sauce, Fresh Cheese, Thick Crust. \r \r Pros: Good tasting pizza..old school Italiano Cons: Heavily congested parking lot more

After 40 years..still outstanding 9/8/2005

I've been eating Gaby's pizza since 1964 or 65...we always disagree to the opening year. Many years ago they were in a long, narrow store next to the fish store, then relocatewd to an abandoned Arthur Treacher's. The neighborhood has seen more changes than a $20 stripper, but Gaby's endures. The sauce still sweetly teasing, the crust a perfect cross between crisp and chewy. These guys know from making a great slice. OK, so it used to be 15cents a slice--$1.10 a pie--but what hasn't changed? Well, you know what hasn't changed? The quality of the pizza! Whenever I can I return for Gaby's amazing pizza...and now my kids have been hooked as well, as, probably, will be their children, too. The best slice in Queens, case closed. more

Sub par at best. 9/1/2005

If you're a true New York pizza lover, this place will be a disappointment. If you're a tourist who only has Domino's as a local pizza parlor, this place could seem like a slice of heaven. Fortunately, I have had truly standout pizza from places like L&B in Brooklyn and Gaby's just pales in comparison. Cons: Crowded parking more

Best Pizza in NYC!! 8/20/2005

Gaby's is so good you'll eat eat there even if you aren't hungy. This place has the best pizza in NYC. The crust is perfect, the sauce is perfect, and the cheese is perfect. They also have great sausage, meatballs, baked ziti, and a dish of penna alla vodka that can actually make you cry tears of joy. If you are ever in Queens and hungering for a slice you must try Gaby's!!! Pros: Food, Service, Value more

A PERFECT SLICE 7/13/2005

ake your next slice A Perfect Slice, try Gaby's and you will be coming back for more. I have been going to Gaby's for over 20 years, there pizza and food is perfect. I've catered from Gabys for home and office parties and my guest and colleagues are always satisfied. My 11-year-old daughter Andrea loves their pizza and bake ziti. All the guys are great, as the saying goes ""service with a smile"" they got it. Special thanks to Andre and Steve as they go above and beyond to take care of me. I highly recommend Gaby's to all pizza eaters. You have not eaten pizza until you eat at Gaby's. Pros: Great Serv. & Prices, Perfect Pizza, Delicious Food more
