I wouldn't recommend G&G for auto repair. They told me that I needed hundreds of dollars of work on my car, when I questioned them they got angry and defensive. I took my car somewhere else and the mechanic laughed when I told him G&G's estimate. I ended up only spending $90 instead of the $500+ that G&G said was needed.\r \r For those of you who have had bad experiences--submit them to AAA Mid-Atlantic. They keep track of all complaints and will take them into account when they review G&G for renewal of their AAA seal of approval. more

Awaiting the Owner's Opinion for How to Proceed... I'd like to speak with the owner before I write my review. I think the owner doesn't know the story from my point of view and I'd prefer to speak with him/her before I submit my experience. I believe that nobody should be treated the way I was treated. Please make contact with the owner for me to speak with and if they don't correct the injustice, I will write the review. If they refund the money, I will let it go. How do I find out how to reach the owner? I don't want to speak to the managers as they are in agreement to not be understanding with my point of view. If after thirty days I haven't heard from the owners, I will proceed to write my review. S. W. more

G&G is above average 6/15/2009

I've been going to these guys for two years now, for inspections, oil changes, and repairs, and have never been let down. Their fees range from very low to somewhat above average, and the service has been consistently good. They give slight discounts to AAA members. The negative reviews on this site are surprising to me, since I've only had good experiences here. more

Good Service 11/23/2008

AAA recommended this shop to me. I have lived all over the world and have come to trust AAA and their facilities. I had not made an appointment, but they helped me right away. This is a rear repair shop. I was back on my way in 2-3 hrs and very fairly treated.If they are racist as some other person stated, it was not evident to me(a minority) or their regular and quite brisk flow of "regular customers" of whom the majority were minority. more

Rip off 10/18/2008

I moved to Maryland from the other state and want to have my car inspected. They overcharge 50% on the inspection fee and I was told to pass the inspection, I need another $1000 repair. In fact, my car just pass the other state inspection one month ago. Never go this crap place!!!\r I don't know why AAA will choose this shop as partner. more

SCAM! Beware this shop! 8/17/2008

My car died one morning, just about a mile from the Georgia Ave. exit. Miraculously, a tow truck was driving by and offered to tow me to the closest shop (where he obviously has a deal with the management). After about four hours, I receive a call from G&G saying that I needed the ignition module replaced, along with a new distributor cap, wires, etc. which would cost $1,100.00! Knowing that the module is located inside the distributor, and that a new distributor costs no more than $300.00 and takes about 15 minutes to replace, I had the car towed to my house. A new distributor, new wires, and new plugs cost me only $350.00 and took no more than 20 minutes total to install!\r In order to get my car from G&G, I had to pay $203.75! The only thing they did was an engine diagnostic and took the cap off of the distributor (which was still off when I went to get the car). DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! G&G Service Center 6/3/2008

I have been coming to this service center for 7 years, starting with a Jeep Grd Cherookee I got in 2001. They found something the dealer failed to disclose. I returned the Jeep to Heritage Jeep in Alexandria to get it fixed since it was new. Then when I later purchased a a used Passat, they did an incredible good work replacing the timing belt and water pump, the tie rod, the brakes and electrical system, etc. One day, I took the Passat to a VW dealer at Darcar College Pk to get a second opinion of the quality of the repairs and they told me that the car was in excellent shape. I even took my wife's Lexus RX 300 and they fixed it for a repair what would have been at least $2,000 more at Darcar Silver Spring Lexus dealership. One more thing I like at G&G SVC Center, their work is guaranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles! more

RAVE 6/15/2007

G & G Service Center has been working on my cars since January 1973. I "found" them through AAA.Their work is consistently "World Class." They make sure I understand what they're doing and why. Their fees are reasonable (and sometimes even better than just "reasonable"). When they need to refer me to another resource (like a body shop), the work at that location is usually of the same high calibre. I will never, easily, take my car anywhere else for service. Should I need to, I come back to them for assessment. more
