In November, we were rear ended at a stoplight by a car going about 20mph. The other person's insurance agent showed up and told us we just needed about 195.00 worth of paint and labor to make the scratch on the bumper look pretty again. Not being a total N00b, I told them not until i had it inspected. I took it to Elie again and he put it up on the hoist and showed me what had happened during the accident with the crush pads and the fact that the bumper welds had been snapped clean off-only could have happened in an accident. The cost was four times higher than the first adjustor quoted (but mechanics-wise the price was low and included labor, the dealership would have cost a LOT more) and he told me to send the appraiser to him and he would explain the repairs needed for a supplemental report. The insurance company finally sent a competent adjustor out to see the car today and the adjustor called me to tell me that Elie personally took him to see the underside of the car and that he had no problems with any of the repairs or cost needed and that everything was approved with zero issues. The car has already been fixed and the whole process was smooth. more

Elie is definitely the person to speak with as I find that some of the other guys might be a bit nervous speaking to customers or have language barrier, but Elie has no problem getting on the phone to explain things to his customers or take calls. He's very friendly and if you tell him your budget, I agree with the other reviewer, he will prioritze what needs to be done and what should be done within "x" number of weeks/months, etc to help stay within that budget. more

I am from the midwest and to date (having lived in cambridge now for 3 years) this is the ONLY business I have encountered that has the Midwest style of customer service and genuine kind treatment. It was refreshing to find that there are actually people in the Cambridge area that do care about their customers and work hard to assist in keeping the bills low on those unexpected (accidents, etc) costs. I had my first experience with Eli over several years ago. At that time I had a STS Cadillac. My rear bearings was going. I had AAA towed and the guy who was towing was from his shop. He ask me were I was towing it to. I was prepared to have it towed to the Cadillac dealership. He explained to me that they would probalbly charge more than what was necessary. He was correct. I was a heavy duty mechanic in the Navy Seabees. I know enough about vehicles. I said I will give him a shot. He fixed my car the same day. I have since had two other Cadillacs since then. I don't bring them anywhere else. Eli had always been fair with me on the prices of fixing my cars. I have never felt that I was being ripped off. As a matter of fact. My car just got a brake line leak and I am going to send it to him now. more

I've been close with a number of mechanics in the past, mostly due to cars that I've owned and their need for specialized care. I really stumbled across FPM randomly - they happen to also be close to my house - and have had multiple good servicings from Eli and the crew. They work fast, cheaply, and are accurate. Yes, Eli will point out whatever you do or may need done, and if you tell him your budget, he'll even prioritize what needs immediate attention, and give you a timeframe for the rest. His prices have always been lower than other local places. more

I took my car here for inspection when I first moved to town. The place was close to my apartment and the guys seemed nice enough. Hell, the mechanic took me (a woman) under the car to show me something- I was impressed. more

I first experienced Elie and Fresh Pond the day a speed bump at Angell Animal Medical Center ripped a piece off the bottom of our car. Thank goodness our 155lb dog was not in the car at the time because the piece was dragging along the underside like a bulldozer scoop and then with a very loud grinding noise flipped over and got crammed up under the car. We had to pull over (was a VERY hot day in July). My cell phone service called them for a tow. They got there 15 minutes before they had stated they would arrive (it was even on a Sunday evening after 5pm) and the driver was VERY friendly and carted both me and my husband to the shop where the owner (Elie) was actually there to meet me. He told me he would take care of getting the tow cost handled and he immediately looked at the car, told me it would cost next to nothing to repair (the other shop had quoted about 200.00) and the final bill for us (tow not included-he did handle that on his own) was about 45.00. more

I simply do not get the negative reviews. I have been taking my Saab here for the last 6 years and had nothing but positive experiences. Eli and his crew are honest, respectful and cost me about half of what I would spend at the Saab dealership. Further, they explain everything to me and show me exactly why a repair in necessary. They even give me a lift home if they need to keep the car for several hours! What's up with you negative people? This place is great and I would not go anywhere else! more

I had my inspections done here- never been to this place before, and my insurance company had listed FPM as one of the approved inspectors. Inspection went fine - all I needed were two headlights. (my car has two on each side). Eli mentioned I may need a new belt, and showed me the small cracks.. but didnt say it was pressing and didnt try to push me to get it done there. I asked for a quote on how much it might be, and he said around $70 total, which certainly didnt seem like a rip off. He was very personable/had a good sense of humor. I was not ripped off, not treated poorly, and I was in and out in a jiffy. Works for me. more

I've been going to Fresh Pond Mobil for over 10 years from when I was driving an old VW Rabbit to the New Nissan Maxima that I drive now. I've come to know Eli (the owner) and the mechanics as being fast, reliable and reasonably priced. One huge advantage is that you can just bring your car in and they will bend over backwards to get you back on the road as quickly as possible. In short, I don't take my car anywhere else and recommend them highly to anyone in need of car repair or maintenance. more

I have never taken my car to get repaired here however, my car died and it was so old that it was not worth fixing it. So it died on a major road and I called them and they said they are a car junk removal service. They came right away and took the car off my hands. There was no charge and the tow truck driver was very nice! more

This service station is run very well efficient, and i was shocked by their service. Quick, Organized, very Freindly people, and reasonable prices. I thoguht the service i needed on my car would take a day or two at least, not here, When i broguht it in on christmas eve it was takin care of in a matter of hours. I just took a walk around the Fresh Pond Reservoir, and had a cup of coffee at dunkin donuts. i'd have to say Two thumbs up. more
