My children are in College, and I have shopped here for Both of Mt children...I has always asked about return policies, and always happy to keep you informed, ....Today consumer has a Bad Experience, and they have to Blame the shops, Because they didn't get a receipt, which all shop owners will give, and Posted sign about returns, are there for a reason....Those of us that Appreciate small Merchants, are happy to support....Keep shopping Amazon, if you want China Cheap..... more

Amazon is CHEAPER! Frankel's customer service is the WORST. If you wait in line with a costume and it says ""Accessories at the register"" that you'd like to see before buying since there are no returns allowed, you have to wait for them to get the accessories then RE-WAIT in line again if you want to buy. The old lady manager will not let you check out even though you waited in line originally. So we found the EXACT same costume on Amazon for HALF the price.\r \r Save your money. Go to Frankel's to try on costumes, find the one you want, then buy it online. That's all they're good for considering their POOR customer service. more

I bought a costume and returned it 6 days later but they said that 3 days is the limit. Since they didn't give me a receipt, I couldn't even verify whether any Return Policy is printed on the receipt. I will next report them to the Better Business Bureau. There is NO sign or notice at the cashier about the fact that they do not take returns. I read the other reviews below and their story seems to vary by customer. Sometimes they say 2 days, other times 3 days. It seems like they just tell any kind of story so you can't return an item. I will next tell 100 guests at our upcoming costume party. more

I was very excited to find that this store was located in Houston after browsing the online selection. I went to the store and purchased and outfit for me and my wife. That night my wife tried the outfit on and it was too big, so I went back to the store the next day and tried to return her costume. They said they do not return items purchased in the store, but do take online returns. At no time during the checkout did the lady tell me there were no in-store returns, and that my wife shoud be here to try it on before you purchase it. I had the exact same issue someone who buys a costume on line would have, but I was punished for buying it in the store. She said she would exchange it, but since my wife is not there to try on the new cosutme I would be in the same situation. I even asked for store credit, but was denied. What a terrible double standard of a return policy. My total purchase was for $167.73, and all I was trying to return was $60.00 not even the entire purchase. I will never shop here again and neither will my family or anyone I know. I have lived in Houston my entire life, except through college, and this is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I hope the owners will learn from this review, but it doesn' t look promising considering the other reveiws posted here. more

I honestly think that this place has one of the best magic selections available in all of Texas. You also can find anything you could want for your next costume party year round. They keep it all available all year long. I was a little disappointed to see that they pretty much put away ALL the magic stuff during Halloween. It is likely because the need the room for everything Halloween related. The place is huge and I wish that they were able to accommodate both. I always by myself a cool magic trick as a gift to myself for my Birthday which is October 5th and the magic selection is not really available during their busy season of October. So I buy my magic from Frankel's Costume about the second week in November. This company was able to help every one of my guest that attended my annual Birthday ""Halloween Party."" Man I love October, and I love Frankel's Costume Company. more

I have to say, I have never seen a costume store quite like Frankel's Costume Co. Walk in the doors and just try and hold your mouth to keep your jaw from dropping! It's amazing! There are so many costumes and accessories to choose from. The place is so well organized and they staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! They really know their stuff! I can not get enough of this store! Been back several times and even took out of town friends to ""tour"" the store. I have to hand it to them, they know how to take care of people! I can not wait until I need to go back again. I think any one on here that posted a bad review, needs their head examined, or at least up their happy pill dosage. How can you not have a blast in Frankel's! more

Crowded aisles and very limited amount of children's costumes with even fewer variety of sizes. Parking is horrible during peak season. more

This place only gets one star because I have to give it at least that to poast this review. This place is truly terrible. That Manager woman was such a witch that she should just dress up in one of her costumes and run people off at the door. Heck - holding the door open may help air the place out. Of course, it smells like old clothes but it is so hot in there that you break a sweat just shopping around. We left before trying anything on. We couldn't stand the heat. no wonder everyone is in such an angry mood in there!!!! Erotic Cabaret has a nice selection. So does Party Boy and Arne's. more

Largest selection in Houston. I think that in my honest opinion that many of the negative reviews on city search and Google are unfounded! I think that many are probably from competitors in Houston that are downright jealous of the Frankel's ! I am not an employee, just a shopper and customer for 27 years. Wow! maybe its because they only make $$ once a year, but this place is run like a ZOO! Kathy (been there 30+ yrs) needs to retire. I think she almost blew a gasket while i was there. The so called general manager refused to give me his name and information when asked. Then told me to leave the property! With no A/C no wonder they are so rude! This place is filled with great costumes to rent and buy. I have been shopping here for years and am NEVER disappointed. I have found halloween costumes, theme party outfits, accessories and soo much more. My school also hosts a holiday breakfast every year and we rent the half-pint Frosty costume. The kids love it! Even though the store is literally on the other side of town from our school it is worth the drive for the costume. The staff is always very helpful on the phone and makes it very easy for me to arrange everything so I just need to stop in and pick up the costume. They also really know their inventory which is really helpful when you are in a hurry.\r \r Whenever I need a costume or someone asks where to go, I go staight to Frankels! more

The staff was SO Helpful at my recent visit to Frankel's! I recently needed a wig for a theme party and had the hardest time deciding what to get. I ran over to Frankel's because I knew they had a wide selection. Talk about variety!! The staff was so helpful in assisting me with the wigs and updating me on the new styles & this year's trends! EVEN BETTER... you can try them on! That helps with deciding even more. The staff member who was helping me was a GEM. She was attentive, spirited and assisted me with my various questions. I purchased my wig and was completely satisfied with the style and PRICE!\r \r GREAT SHOP! ATTENTIVE WARM STAFF, WIDE VARIETY & GREAT SELECTION OF ITEMS! My 10 year old daughter bought a Lester doll from the website. When it arrived she was very disappointed it didn't have the features in the online ad. I called the store and they apologized and said it was a web error that some information was left off. I said she'd like to return it. They said fine, but no shipping refund and a 10% restocking fee. Even though they admitted it was an error on their part, they claimed store policy was store policy. So now a 10 year old girl is out close to $20 for THEIR admitted mistake. Thanks for ripping off a 10 year old girl Aaron Frankel, you clearly don't care about customers and I hope people realize this and shop somewhere else! \r We rented two costumes for a wedding. In talking to the to the clerk I was told we could pick up the costumes on Fri. because of the schedule as father of the bride made it difficult to be ready for a Sat afternoon wedding picking up on Sat.\r When we arrived Fri. we were told that it was an additional 20% charge to pick up a day early. Having invested 1 1/2 hrs and 50 mile round trip already I felt I had no choice but to pay. I was offered the obligatory ""sorry for the misunderstanding"" but that will be another $46.00.\r We will never use this store again. more

This company may have a great store in Houston, but their online order fulfillment is AWFUL. \r When you wait forever for an 'in-stock' item to even ship out, call them for status, all they said was ""uhh....the person who's in charge of this order is looking for it right now, but he's at lunch so I don't know"". Frankel's is the place for Halloween! Their huge store has everything you could want for Halloween, including lots of plus size costumes! Their staff is friendly and very helpful and the most knowledgeable of their own products of any costume store you'll find in Houston! Love the expansion, easy to find products and a sales person always seems to appear just when I need to find something unique or ask a question. Makeup section is my personal favorite and the staff are always more than helpful as I dig through trays of colors before making my final decision. The staff will also offer ideas if you have an idea but aren't quite sure where you want to run with it. The Halloween season is especially crazy (this is a costume shop after all) but knowing this and having a bit of an idea what you're looking for and not being shy about hunting down a sales person is key. Pros: Variety, easy in and out, helpful staff Cons: The store is now in an unairconditioned warehouse so it's HOT more

Today I heard my friend get yelled at by a woman who claimed to be the owner. It was awful!! All she wanted was a slightly longer dress and the woman basically said that the dress (which looked incredibly short on my tall friend) was supposed to look that way and asked her if she knew anything about costume history.
