Love this concept for meat lovers in Houston!!!!!! Took the brother here for his 40th birthday and he fell in love!!!!! Great salad bar too. But the reason you come here is for ...

When this restaurant first opened it was wonderful. Very elegant; people dressed up to go there and the food was fantastic. That was then. Now this place is filled with people who...

Fantastic! 10/22/2006

There are so many great things about Fogo! I didn't have the salad bar, because I didn't come for veggies--I came for the meat! All of the meat that I tried was great. Remember to turn your card to red if you want to eat! Everything is highly recommended. You can't go wrong! For dessert, try the Mango dessert. I would go back just for that--best dessert I've ever had. I'm ready to go back! more

Fun Time and Great Food 9/6/2006

I went last night with 6 other people from work. I would recommend getting there before 7pm AND make reservations. Parking is pretty good if you get there early. Valet if you get there later.\r \r The service was fantastic! In fact, my friend accidentally dropped her fork and with 2 seconds a waiter plopped another fork right next to her. Now that's quick! What I like most is that you don't have one waiter. Any of the waiters can wait on you and serve you.\r \r As for the food, the salad bar is AMAZING, but don't fill up there! The meats were all very tender, usually cooked medium well to well. They boast 16 cuts of meat, but it only seemed like they had about 5 or 6. It seemed like they kept bringing around the same meats! The desserts are excellent! I would recommend the Creme Brulee or the Strawberry Cheesecake. They also have a wonderful array of dessert drinks, including Brandy Alexander!\r \r My only complaints are that it does get noisy once the restaurant is full - and it is very pricey, but you get A LOT of food for your money! I would also recommend this place only if you have a large group (4 or more). Pros: Salad Bar, Variety of Meats, Excellent Service Cons: Noisy, Crowded more

Meat Connoiseurs Delight 8/10/2006

I've been going to Fogo since the time it opened in Houston. Still have the steak knives they gave out to customers when they first opened. My friends and I love this place, we used to go 3 or 4 times a month for the first few months then slowed down.\r \r If you go to Fogo, go to enjoy the quality meats that rivals high class steak houses but, served with the flavor of Brazil. You really taste the beef, not some meat covered in a heavy sauce or covered in butter (except though the garlic beef - you better love garlic), the lamb and pork are just as good. Except for the garlic beef and the parmesan porkl (eew), everything they do to prepare the meats it to bring out the flavor of the meats.\r \r The price - it definitely is worth it. You'd pay more at a steak house for similar quality meat and then you are just limited to one. This place really lets you enjoy meat \r \r The caiprahinha is the best I have had anywhere and the Papaya creme dessert, to fill in the gaps after dinner, is delcious.\r \r For some reason or another had not been to fogo for over a year. I went for lunch today and the quality is still there. The service is still impecable. Couple of the waiters still not only recognized me but, still knew my favorite meats and made sure they arrived promptly.\r \r For service, I'll relate a short story. During one of our first visits, a friend must have dropped a little something on him, no one was around us, a minute later he had a fresh napkin and a glass of soda water next to him out of nowhere without being asked. That is how observant the staff is.\r \r I love this place, it can be if you just look at the final number but for quality of meat, service and casual atmosphere it is certainly worth it once in a while Pros: Just a darn fine restaurant if you like meat. Cons: You wish you had a second stomach more

Not a Taco Cabana 5/13/2006

In answer to a couple of previous reviews; first of all, Fogo De Chao is not a Taco Bell, nor a Taco Cabana. If you want a taco, a beer, and a $5 tab per person, this is not the place. Fogo De Chao is synonymous with excellent service, top-quality steaks and meats, a true Brazilian dining experience, complete with a huge assortment of South American salads, wines, and desserts. This is a true dining experience, and you had better come hungry. My first date with my fiancee was here at Fogo De Chao. I also proposed to her here; the waiters were so overwhelmed, that they brought my fiancee an ""on the house"" chocolate dessert, with the words ""Congratulations"" swirled in strawberry\raspberry glaze around the plate. The ""espeto de corrido"" style of service, with an endless parade of waiters offering you an ecclectic variety of foods around your table, is overwhelming and remarkable. I have lived in Houston most of my life, and have never experienced such outstanding service. \r But yes, the price reflects the quality, service, and experience. My fiancee is from South America herself and quickly identifies the true Brazilian style of FDC; we both love the experience and food here. But if you're packing only $20 in your wallet, KFC, McDonalds, and Taco Bell are down the street. Pros: Huge Variety, Romantic, Extraordinary Service more

$306, Are you Kidding? 4/15/2006

It was $306 for two adults, two teenagers and a ten year old to eat. This is just crazy. The food was below average at best. Fine Dining.....NO. Worth the money....NO. Will I go back.....NO NO NO. Save your money and have friends over for steaks on the grill. I guarantee it will be 100% better. Pros: dessert (but $$$) Cons: EXPENSIVE, CROWDED, NOISY / STRESSFUL more

Not worth it but you can Try 4/9/2006

For the money of almost $60 bucks per person? Not worth it. But you can have a try if you have never been there before. But definitely I won't go back again. The meat is not at the top quality. The service is excellent. The salad bar is nice. Too nosiy for a fine dining place like this. Pros: service, salad bar Cons: value more

Experience outstanding steaks 4/9/2006

a restaurant that you have to visit and experience the dining concept. Pros: good parking, good food, service Cons: crowded, expensive more

A must-try for anyone who loves great food 9/12/2005

I am not a beef-eater normally, but this is the only place I have ever been to that I actually savor my beef-filled meal. The filet mignon wrapped in bacon is to die for, and the rump steak is so flavorful. The chicken comes out dry, but the beef is tender and juicy. Don't fill up on bread and salad at this restaurant... you will want to keep eating all night. I didn't get a chance to have dessert there, but the fried bananas are delicious. The services is so organized and extremely friendly, they made me feel like royalty. The staff works as a team, and seem to work very well together. For lunch, it's less noisy and cheaper, more of a businessmen-type crowd, so the servers will give you more attention. I have been there twice, and I will definitely be back. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Crowded at dinner more

Outstanding Service 7/14/2005

Very impressed with the service! Waiters are very polite attentive. The salad bar is beautiful and the meats just keep coming! The meats are wonderful cuts, but it seems they are not marinated or seasoned in any manner; so you get a great piece of meat without any flavor. One really has to pile the chimichurri on to make it taste like something! Salad bar is very nicely laid out; the bread at the salad bar had the consistency of paper (dry). Overall, the restaurant is nice-looking; we sat near the wine cellar, which could make it romantic if you're not there during a very busy night. The price is a bit too high. You'd have to be a football player to eat a quantity of meat that'd justify paying so much money! As an experience it was fun, but don't think I can justify spending that kind of money. Pros: beautiful salad bar, great service, great service! Cons: small bathrooms, flavorless meats, expensive more

YUCK 6/15/2005

Food was not what I had expected. Some of the meats tasted bloody and had no flavor. The service was awesome, and they even gave us a complimentary dessert since it was my fiance's birthday. If you are a MEAT LOVER, you might like the buffet style selections, but I will never go back to this restuarant. Pros: Dessert, Some Salad Items Cons: TASTE, EXPENSIVE more

Meat and Masculinity 6/14/2005

I have to say that this place was designed by men for men. The decor was pure male. My best girlfriend and I went last night. The salad bar, bread and veggies were so nice. The fried polenta was excellent. However, being two smallish women, we felt that the price ($44.50 pp) was a bit steep as we couldn't possibly eaten that much worth of food! The meat was wonderful, especially the lamb chops. The service was hit and miss for a Tuesday evening (long time for refill on wine and, sometimes, meat). It is a great place for male carnivores, or for special occasions although I can think of better places for those. Pros: Lamb chops, Salad Bar Cons: Expensive, Crowded more

Great service 6/13/2005

I enjoyed my evening at Fogo. I easily made reservations that morning and was seated promptly upon arrival. I've been to a Fogo de Chao (called Samba Grill) in Mexico and Venezuela. This was my first time seeing costumed waiters. It was a nice touch. Naturally, it's a bit expensive, but I'd recommend this restaurant for a large group. And they make a great peach martini. Pros: great food, great service Cons: expensive more

had so much fun! 5/27/2005

my boyfriend and i have been there twice now and the food there was great. lots of meat i must say. but, we're meat eaters so it was worth it. plenty variety of meats to choose from so you can't go wrong. some meats are still pink, so ask if you like your meat well done, which i do...or you'll get a bloody plate. make sure you make reservations because they get very crowded on the weekends. overall i'll go there again for special occasions because they are pricey! Pros: the meats, service more

Delicious, Delicious, Delicious 5/20/2005

If you like food, you will like fogo de chao!! Fogo de Chao is for people who eat!! Never ending meat and a grand salad buffet make this restaurant a must try. Pros: buffet, delicious, variety of meat Cons: price more

Great food 3/2/2005

My boyfriend and I went to Fogo de Chao for our one year anniversary. Not a good spot for conversation. We went on a Saturday night and had no idea how busy they would be, however, we were seated very promptly. Although it took us a little while to understand what the cards on the table were supposed to be used for, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I can still taste the filet mignon. The only clencher came at the end of the night when we got our check. We still talk about how much fun we had there. Pros: excellent food, kind servers, atmosphere Cons: hard to converserate more

They charge you for water! 1/27/2005

Yes, its true. And eating there is like trying to play a game of chess on the floor of the NYSE. The food is good, especially the really complex salad bar, but bring a dry erase board to communicate with your date. Waits can be long, because they are busy friday nights. Thats not their fault. But dont fill up on the cheese puffs they hand out for free to fill you up before you even eat. I've had meals worth 60 dollars, and that wasnt one of them more

The Best! 9/26/2004

I went to an upscale Churrascaria in Brazil a few years ago. Once I returned, I had to find one here. I had high expectations and didn't know if Fogo's would be less of an authentic experience. I was completely impressed. Fogo's was definitely up-to-par with the Churrascaria in Brazil and better in some respects. I received excellent service and their food quality was unbeatable. They constantly ask you have any special request (meats cooked more well done, fried yucca, caipirinhas, etc.). Their service and food get my highest rating. If I had to provide some criticism, it is a bit expensive at night/week-ends. Also, some of the other Churrascarias that I have been to had better salad bars. I've since been back to Fogo's at least a dozen times and have tried several other Churrascarias in Brazil, but Fogo's is still number one in my book. Pros: food quality, excellent service, side dishes Cons: , salad bar, no Brazilian beer more

am i a king? 9/22/2004

I have never in my my life been to a place with better service than fogo de chao. The waiters here literally run to get what you ask for, the food is replaced constantly to keep it warm even if it is barely touched. I was so satisfied and full when i left that i dreamt about it that night. This restaurant is a little expensive but every penny is worth it, all the food is high cuality and abundant. The draw, well fogo can get a little crazy with waiters runing around with customes and people runing to the salad bar trying to quench their hunger; but again...that is the fun of fogo de chao. The salad bar is the best one i have seen so far. I felt like i was a king and i can't wait to go back....for lunch since it is a little cheaper! Pros: clean, friendly, exquisit Cons: , noisy, caotic more

Below Average 8/26/2004

After reading reviews, some of them I must say didnot sound objective, I was expecting a nice place, but the staff, the service and the food disappointed me. I had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. The server came 15 minutes after I sat. Even though the food was ok I don't think it worths the wait. I am not planning to go there again. The review from Kiwismom was very funny. She should have checked her spelling too. :) more

I will be back again for it is now my favorite restraunt. You get what you pay for and then some. One full belly. Yummy! Pros: Friendly, All you can eat, Inexpensive more
