a painful experience 8/6/2014

I have been at this clinic several times over the past four years. It has been a very painful experience. Four years ago, my female cat died while boarding at Five Points Animal Clinic. I did not know what to think of it at the time because I had never experienced the death of a pet and I was unfamiliar with cat diseases. I was told it was an incurable case of feline aids. However, my cat was bought in a pet store from a shelter that guaranteed that the cat did not have feline aids. But it died anyway, while boarding at Five Points Animal Clinic. Then, earlier this week my current, male cat had stayed at the clinic for a urinary problem. The catheter procedure set me back $900. That was not enough, because I was also informed that my cat was scared and had bitten a dog. Of course, my cat was scared in view of the procedure, but how on earth could it have been kept anywhere near another animal while staying at this clinic after a medical procedure? Shouldn't the clinic keep animals away more

Shouldn't the clinic keep animals away from each other? Now, because of the biting, HDEC will visit me in my house to check that my (indoor) cat (who never gets outside) is kept quarantined in my house, although the biting took place while the cat was at Five Points Animal Clinic and there obviously not properly cared for. The vet told me of the biting with a smile on her face as if it was all a joke. Having officials from HDEC visit me in my home, because of the clinic's incompetence, is not funny to me. The vet also sought to make light of the situation by joking that she gets bit all the time. Apparently, the multitude of this vet's inadequacies amuses her! I have drawn the only right and proper conclusion from this sad state of affairs. I will avoid Five Points Animal Clinic, never ever go there again, and inform anybody I know with pets of the clinic's horrendous practices. more

Great Animal People!!!! 5/14/2012

I was looking for a vet for my puppy and Five-Points Animal Clinic happened to be who we went with. Everyone was extremely freindly and very knowledgable. Dr. Harbauch answered many of my questions and expressed her concerns to me, which I greatly appreciated. Another great thing about their clinic, is that is responsonably priced. Great caring service and you do have to pay an arm and leg!!!! Thanks more

Best Vet 5/13/2012

Not sure who kick403 dealt with, but that does NOT sound like the place I go to. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience with wherever you were and I know I would be devistated. more

The Most Caring Animal Clinic I have ever been to 5/11/2012

kick403, I don't know what vet you are talking about, but I KNOW YOU ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE FIVE POINTS ANIMAL CLINIC! No way would Dr. Gallery, Dr. Harbauch, or any of the staff treat anybody the way you describe! I have been taking my babies there for 20 years and each and everyone I have encountered has been kind, caring, and professional. One of the Doctors there even gave me his home phone number and called to check on me and my dog, as she was dying of old age. I call them constantly and ask questions about my dogs and they try as best they can to help me by phone, and are always patient and concerned for my canine family members. Trust me - I am FANATIC about my babies, and wouldn't trust anyone else but the folks at FIVE POINTS ANIMAL CLINIC! PS: Dr. Gallery would probably pay for your animal to be treated if he had to. That's how much he cares about his patients. more

Great with our pets! 11/15/2011

We've taken both our dogs and our cat to them, and we love it. Both the vets are knowledgeable and great with our animals. We've been in for routine check-ups as well as to get stitches for our dogs (two separate incidents), and we have been more than satisfied both times. In fact, when my father was in the hospital and my mother was too stressed out to deal with her pets, Brian, the male, younger doctor, dropped off the meds she needed for her pets on his way home from work. more

Great place. 10/1/2011

This place is great. I'm a new cat owner, so I was a bit nervous about going to the vet since my kitty is nervous around new people. I called at 8:30am on a Saturday, got an appointment at 10:15am right away, I was out in 20 minutes! The vet was incredibly knowledgable and she was very professional and great with my shy cat. Definitely will be going back there. Plus great location (although admittedly a bit hard to park). more

In reference to the last review 9/1/2011

I think our vet over there is the one you are referring to because he does look very young - he has never been anything but gentle with us, works us in well, etc- if he told you that you should have come by earlier it was probably the fault of whoever was supposed to pass your message along, since he obviously didn't know. I also can't even imagine him barking at someone or being so rude, but we encountered a slightly rude person at the emergency vet when our oldest dog was a puppy and it left a really horrible taste in my mouth as well - sensitivity is definitely important in a situation like that. I'm also pretty familiar with all the vets there after having taken multiple dogs there for years and have never had a problem with anyone. Our vet often calls and checks up on our dog a few days after a visit without even being asked, etc. I could understand how after such a stressful experience someone might lose faith in the clinic, but I think the stress the previous poster was under might have skewed her perception of the situation slightly. In after a number of hours you were still bleeding from being attacked by a dog, and very upset, and I had never been given a message that you had come by earlier, I would be confused, myself, as to why you didn't go to an emergency vet. Typically most dire cases are supposed to go to the emergency clinics because they are better equipped to handle emergency situations since the nature of the business is to take walkins as opposed to regularly scheduled appointments. Anyway, I highly recommend this vet; best one in terms of service and price that I've ever been to, and I've had pets all my life. more

We love you Dr. Harbach 1/8/2011

Dr. Harbach is a very caring vet. We love her. We also love her staff especially Nikki. She has been our vet for a long time and I wouldnt have anyone else. Had been to several other vets in Columbia before landing here. more

Horrible 7/6/2010

There is a special place in hell for these people. I do not feel safe taking my animals here. I have four pets and had been with this clinic for years. One of my pets was brutally attacked, bitten and shaken by a dog on a recent morning. I didn?t know what to do. As soon as the clinic opened, I rushed there ? shaking and bleeding from a dog bite myself -- to see if the clinic might have time to take a quick look at my cat or at the very least answer a few questions. They said they were very busy, but that the doctor would at least call me. He NEVER called. Some hours later, at closing time, I went back...still traumatized, still shaking and still bleeding...with my pet. This very young guy (I thought he was a kid, but he?s the veterinarian, apparently?!) came into the room. He appeared to be very agitated at me. He barked at me about how he was not going to make his staff stay over to help me and that he was just not going to turn his x-ray machine back on, although he said that an x-ray was a necessary procedure. He kept going after me about how I should have come earlier (I DID come MUCH earlier and was TURNED AWAY.) He also kept going on about how I should go to an emergency vet clinic, although I have no job and did not have the means to pay the hundreds and hundreds of dollars to an emergency clinic nearly 30 minutes away that day. This is the same vet that WOULDN?T EVEN CALL me just to answer some of my questions. After he spent some minutes GRIPING at me, despite the trauma that both my pet and I faced, he finally did what he called a ?physical exam.? But it was not the level of care that my pet needed. I have four pets and have gone to this clinic for some years. And THIS is what they do the FIRST time I have an EMERGENCY?!!! The vet spends crucial time GRIPING at the PATIENT when he needs to be EXAMINING a hurt animal?! That?s shoddy medical care. They have lost a lot of business from me. I will NEVER go back. Cons: It's all horrible. more

Five points animal clinic 4/16/2010

The staff at the clinic is always available to answer questions. They have also been assisting me with giving my pup Odis his monthly heartworm pill. I love the fact that they are pro active about offering services or products that might make me and my pups life easier. I love the place. Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff more

Wonderful Vet Clinic! 8/11/2008

We love 5 points Vet! The very friendly staff and doctors make pets and owners comfortable. Both doctors listen to what is said and really help to fix any problem. We have had small issues in the past, and they have been quickly solved with a phone call. This vet is very reasonably priced. We won't be switching any time soon! Pros: Location, Cost, Friendly Service Cons: Parking...on occasion, could be a bit cleaner more

Kind and Gentle. 2/23/2008

All of the staff at Five Points Animal Clinic are friendly and caring. The rates are affordable. I would highly recommend Dr. Beckham. more
