First off, I have a great mechanic who takes good care of my car at reasonable rates and is honest and fair (Bud's Auto on Rainier), so I wouldn't have expectations of things any further than tires and maybe shocks and alignment at a place that specializes in, well, tires.\r
\r
And in this case, my expectations were exceeded. I did some internet research on the tire that I wanted on my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer 2 WD to deal with the upcoming wet winter Seattle roads and concluded the 245/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo or Revo 2 was what I wanted. \r
\r
After some calls, I almost bought two rear tires at Discount Tire for full price for two. I then saw the Firestone add while surfing a tad more research and proceeded to call around the different stores for two Revo's first generation as Firestone's sale on that tire was buy one, get second at half price. However, it was for the Revo only and for limited stock on hand. A couple of places checked the entire state's inventory and came back with a none in stock answer. \r
\r
Sandy at Firestone Westlake called me back to say there were none left but she could get the Revo 2s and would give me the same sale price. Chris called me today to let me know the cross store transfer had arrived and I could bring my SUV in to have the tires mounted, \r
\r
They said it would take approx 45 minutes; I walked down the street to Uptown coffee, had a mocha, nice conversation with the seriously pretty barrista where we shared our Halloween costumes and hers was to be a dead can-can girl, hmmm, I think she'll pull it off just fine,,oh, but I digress. \r
\r
So, it was 45 minutes, and the tires made a vast improvement in smoothness, quiet, and I'm just daring the rain to come. Thanks folks, see you in January for the two front tires.
Pros: Said what they'd do and did it, honored an expired sale
Cons: None, it was a positive experience
