great looking...great service...alright food...Awesome for the valley! But, they claim that its more of a restaurant then a bar, but they should open it up and allow people to come by and have a few drinks and eat a bit...not charge 25 per person if you sit! they need more appetizers and deserts. that way you dont need to have the salty burgers or the sparcely seasoned scampi. Its a good scene, especially for the valley...you might enjoy yourself...after a few drinks!! last note, I have to say it again, the inside LOOKS GREAT! and the staff is nice,except for the bouncers, who think they are over the hill...remember guys ITS THE VALLEY, dont give me hassel for going in and having a DRINK! had to pull a ""do you know who i work for?""... and i got in more

Firefly Shines 5/30/2003

I frequent Firefly and as far as i'm concerned, this place is great. The food is good and the prices are reasonable, the wine list is getting better. The waitresses need a bit of help in the attitude department but overall they are tolerable. The drinks and bartenders are exceptionally GREAT!!! The door guys are'nt all that bad and the manager Tiffany is a sweetheart! I think the people who have problems here are the people who are out looking for problems. Firefly gets an A from me! Trying to hard t be cool... 5/28/2003

I live locally and do not find the arrogance of the doorman/ the owner / hostess worth frequenting on a regular basis. I call often to make reservations, they will tell me they are booked solid and I will then walk over and be sat immediately. Does that make sense? The bartenders are great though... Disappointing! 5/14/2003

Other than the place looking OK, the staff is attractive....but boy is the food & service LESS than medicore! Even worse, the service was sub-par. And the management need to learn what man and customer service mean!! When you live in a city like LA, with restaurant popping up all the time, you have to strive to stay on top. I would be surprised if Firefly can outlast the accomplished restaurants in the city. I would be embarrassed if I worked at, managed, or owned this place... Terrible 5/14/2003

This was truly an unenjoyable dining experience. From the terrible service, to the poor food, to the rude attitude of the restaurant staff when we brought all this to their attention, this restaurant not only shouldn't but can't last long in this competetive market. The apps and the meal came in piecemeal fashion even after complaining about it. The manager then lied to us twice telling us a)the restaurant didn't have certain items which half of us had already eaten during our appetizers and b)the restaurant made an exception for an 8 person party (the tables are clearly intended to seat large parties). The waitress neglectfully included an undelivered appetizer on the bill. The manager had the audacity to add the automatic 20% gratuity which we had never been informed of. Not Worth the hassle to be in the Valley 4/14/2003

If I have to deal with these morons in the Valley for this type of service and prices I can just go over the hill and do it at the really HOT places. Wouldn't bother coming back here again. I was with another couple so 2 girls and 2 guys. The guy at the front door would not even let us go in to have a drink. But when his 2 buddies show up a high five is all it takes to go in. more

Fantastic!!! 3/30/2003

A friend of mine recommended this place and she was right on. I told her that I wanted a romantic place with good food and service. Well I got all of that and more. My date loved the place as much as I did and we walked out with a big smile on our faces. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!! We will be back!!!!!!!! Pretty cool 3/29/2003

My friends and I had no problem with the door staff, and walked right in on a Saturday night. This place feels like an old school cigar lounge on the imside, and the ambience on the patio is great. Even the unisex bathrooms that seemed really strange at first, would up to be kind of a neat social experiment. The drinks kept flowing, and the music was not so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation. We'll definitely go back. more

Great atmosphere. We were seated right next to the (unfortunately gas driven) fireplace. The waiter was very obliging, helpful and competent. The quality of the food itself was appropriate, while the quantity was definitely not sufficient. more

I've been around the block and never been treated worse by any door anywhere. The coolest places in hollywood don't have the attitude of this place. You're in the valley, get rid of the attitude. The door told me that without a reservation the wait would be between a minute and an hour! He told a group of very attractive women that if they were thirsty, to go to the 7-11 for a six-pack. Firefly rocks. The music, the drinks, the food, the whole place. I love it here. I have been a customer since the very beginnning. I enjoy it as much today as ever. IT has evolved somewhat but the changes have been for the better. Firefly is constantly improving itself. At times it is one step back to take two steps forward, but it is still moving forward any way you cut it. Where else can you get such a cool scene at such a good value. NOWHERE IN LA. I have been to most every bar and restaurant on the ""best of"" list for 2002, firefly is on of the true winners. Everything from the food to the service to the people is tops. The design is excellent. Every room or area of Firefly is a new and exciting suprise. The beauty is you can choose inside, outside, patio, or library areas to hang in. Firefly encompasses an entire evening and prevents one from having to travel to many different places an one evening. Keep up the good work. Pros: excellent value, great drinks, good scene more

door policy has ruined this place 12/9/2002

...which is a shame because it really is a nice space (and the unisex bathroom can make for some interesting meeting possibilities!). Drinks are pretty good when you do get in, food is mediocre with small portions (and expensive for what you get -- don't eat dinner here). But now that the management has decided to try to turn this into a guest-list-only joint, I've no patience for it. I wish they'd get over themselves...it's in the Valley for cryin' out loud! RUDE STAFF 12/7/2002

I went to Firefly one night I was disrespected from the second I came to the door to the second I left. It was the rudest staff, management, and security I have ever witnessed in the Los Angeles Area. The security made people stand outside in the cold for 10 minutes when it wasn't very busy inside to give the place a busy, hype feel and made my date and I cold in the night air. I came here a couple of nights ago with friends, we made reservations; arrived on time, but they made us wait for over 25 minutes for our reserved table. Impossible to go with a group of friends and have a good time. The front door people are rude and way to stuck up. They need to remind themselves that they aren't guarding Fort Knox. FIRE HOSTESS! 11/14/2002

I will NEVER go back again! The hostess is way too full of herself. I have been to many of LA's top restaurants and NEVER have I seen anyone so rude. A hostess sets the tone for a restaurant and this one should have been fired long ago. They will cancel your reservations or when you show up it will not be there. Also, the fake line outside to make it seem happening is so sad. This place is in no way up to par with any restaurant in the valley or the westside. The food barely makes it, the service is horrible and the attitude is so five minutes ago! No way in hell will any of my friends will step into this pathetic excuse for a restaurant. more
